Great, at least you know there isn't an issue on your end. Now, get a proper Pap smear done so we can actually see what's going on. Take this report to your gynecologist.

I just can't deal with the arguing anymore, I've had enough, and I honestly don't know what to do next. She keeps insisting everything is perfectly fine and that my flora is finally recovering, so she gave me some Lactogyn vaginal suppositories and a few other pills... But I'm just sitting here crying from the sheer frustration of it all. Everything has just piled up on me at once, and I don't have the money to see a private doctor, so I really am at a loss...

I managed to calm myself down a bit, and I’m going to give what she prescribed a shot... if this doesn't work, I honestly don't know what else is left to try. It’s actually quite interesting, because I was looking things up earlier—that antibiotic she gave me preventatively during my first visit, the 🙂 one... it says it's used for pyelonephritis, cystitis, urethritis, and gonorrhea, in addition to respiratory infections. And these vaginal suppositories? They're meant for Trichomonas (which I suspected from the start, since I know vaginal treatments won't touch it without an antibiotic specifically for that), Gardnerella, Atopobium, and Candida.
It feels like a game of elimination at this point... if it isn't the first thing, it's definitely one of the others. 🤦
Anyway, along with all that, she gave me some Lactogyn capsules for oral use and the Lactogyn suppositories. My plan is to start with the suppositories for those microorganisms first, then move on to the Lactogyn... and I'll take the capsules daily. There are 15 of them, and she wrote 2x1. I'm starting the capsules now, but I'm not sure about the suppositories yet, since they aren't supposed to arrive until later today.

So, here is the situation I’m currently navigating: about three days ago, my boyfriend and I had some unprotected sex—which is quite out of the ordinary for us since we always use a condom—and now I’m dealing with this thick, yellowish-green discharge that has a pretty unpleasant odor. Interestingly enough, there isn't any itching or redness or anything like that. It seems quite obvious that this was passed to me from him. My gynecologist prescribed a ten-day course of Medicated solution vaginal suppositories for me, but for my boyfriend, he simply suggested he go get urethral swabs done rather than prescribing any actual treatment. I can't help but wonder, shouldn't he have been given something too, perhaps some Medicated solution tablets? I’m honestly feeling a bit stuck on how to convince him to actually follow through with the swabs, especially when I feel like the Medicated solution might be what he really needs. In situations like this, have your partners ever been put on a specific treatment plan? Thanks so much.

I found myself in the exact same boat. The only difference was my doctor didn't mention anything about him needing swabs. We both were prescribed Medicated solution and had to take it at the same time; I was also using the vaginal suppositories. Unfortunately, it didn't clear things up for me. Even after we stopped having sex, I went through more tablets and various other suppositories, but despite staying celibate for months now, the issue persists. My Pap smear comes back normal, and while an ultrasound occasionally shows inflammation in my left ovary, it looks fine during the next exam—it’s just a constant cycle. Honestly, even the medication seems to be working against me 🙂🙂

Oh man, I am so sorry to hear that. That sounds like such an incredibly long and exhausting ordeal to carry for so long.
I actually have some Medicated solution tablets sitting here at home; they've been there for about three years now, though the expiration date looks fine. I really want to give them to my boyfriend to see if they help, but I'm having this nagging doubt in the back of my mind—I'm just not sure if they're still effective or if they've somehow gone bad. They're in that standard little bottle with the screw-on cap, and it's been opened once before. Should I go ahead and give them to him or not? I truly feel like they might be the key to solving his problem too.

Why doesn't he just go see his own primary care doctor? Explain what the deal is—what did you get prescribed so he can actually write him a proper script for the pills? First off, I wouldn't be touching anything that's been sitting open for three years. Second, I certainly wouldn't be popping random stuff on my own initiative. 🤷
I don't get why everyone is so terrified of doctors, yet they have no problem shoving whatever random junk into themselves without any supervision. 🤷Is it out of embarrassment? Because there’s nothing to be ashamed of. Doctors have seen and heard everything under the sun.

There we go, problem solved. He’ll go see the doctor; it really isn't a big deal. These kinds of things happen in life, and there's absolutely no reason for him to feel awkward about it. 🙏

👍

I don't get why most people find it so awkward to just see a doctor. I guess they're terrified they'll get referred to a urologist or something. I know girls who actually begged their OB-GYNs for therapy meds for their boyfriends—like, if someone actually shows some mercy and writes the prescription, fine, but normally you're supposed to go to a primary care physician for stuff like that.

Honestly, people will run out for antibiotics for a sore throat without blinking, but the second it involves their junk, suddenly it's a whole dramatic ordeal. 🤣

(Not saying your man is like this, obviously; I'm just noticing this pattern with the guys in my circle. Most of them are exactly like this.)

I haven't had any issues in a while :kuckucodrvo: since I switched doctors... so I was wondering what the usual process is like.
I gave birth about 6 months ago. For the last few days, I've been dealing with this weird discharge—kind of chunky, no smell, and a little bit of stinging. Honestly, there aren't many other symptoms... plus we use condoms anyway.
I'm going to book an appointment, and I was thinking about insisting on getting some swabs done (I haven't actually had them done in at least 3 years)... but I have a feeling she won't want to do it. It's a whole thing—my doctor is super stingy, she charges for ultrasounds without giving a receipt, and she wouldn't even let me get an ultrasound after I gave birth...
With these kinds of symptoms, do you think I should push for the swabs, or should I just go along with whatever therapy she prescribes without them? She doesn't even bother checking for cleanliness levels... I'm honestly not even sure if she even has a microscope.

Linda Ward312, you don't really need to go out of your way to do targeted wipes, though I suppose it might be a good idea to just get a standard PAP test done. You'll most likely end up with a "mixed flora" result. It'll probably mean you either get some vaginal suppositories or a combination of those and some oral tablets.

Thanks! She only swabbed me for anaerobes (still waiting on those results) and handed me some Medicated solution suppositories.

My period is never really on schedule anyway—sometimes it hits at 29 days, sometimes 33—but this time it was 45 days late before finally showing up. I dealt with a kidney infection at the start of the month and was on antibiotics, but even after finishing them, it still stung when I peed, even though my culture came back clean. My doctor still has me taking Ninur since I had swelling and E.coli in my urine before. Then, mid-month, I started getting this mild breast pain, just passing through, and the doc said my mammary glands were a bit swollen and offered to send me for an ultrasound in early June if I wanted. That little ache pops up in my left side sometimes and the right side other times, plus I noticed some slight inflammation around the nipple on the right one, like the areolas are a bit irritated. Now I’m kicking myself for forgetting to mention it to my OBGYN when I went in for the late period checkup. Should I be worried about my breasts? I don't feel any lumps or anything; my GP checked me out and just said the glands were swollen. I'm 25. I'm heading out of the US for a two-week trip now, so this is totally stressing me out.

Hi everyone!

I was on birth control for about a year and stopped taking it roughly four months ago.
Since then, my cycle has been pretty irregular. Plus, because my boyfriend and I are long-distance, we don't really get the chance to be intimate very often.
But here is the issue:
On Wednesday, I started having this brown discharge that lasted all day (which has never happened to me before). I assumed my period was finally arriving.
However, now I am already one day late.
Has anyone else dealt with this? Should I be worried?

Quick question for all the ladies out there. Has anyone ever dealt with heavy yellow discharge without any other symptoms following it?
Basically, I’ve been dealing with this discharge for about two years now, and every single time I go in, my gynecologist insists she doesn't see any signs of inflammation, and my Pap smear hasn't turned up any bacteria that would actually require treatment.

I've had my doubts about this for a long time, but I just blindly trusted my doctor—she keeps telling me it's nothing serious as long as I don't have obvious issues like itching, pain, or burning. I figured she was right because, well, she’s the doctor and clearly knows more than I do. Fortunately, nothing actually hurts or burns, but this constant, heavy discharge is incredibly frustrating and uncomfortable. Reading up on it, though, it seems like this isn't exactly "normal" and usually points toward some kind of underlying inflammation. I know the discharge shouldn't look like this, yet my doctor won't prescribe anything, leaving me feeling totally lost on how to help myself. I expect my physician to fix the issue, but she maintains that there isn't one. I've even tried various over-the-counter vaginal treatments to balance my pH on my own, but the problem persists.

So, I'm wondering, how "normal" is this really in your experience? What do you think the issue could be if a Pap smear isn't showing any inflammation?
I can't help but suspect some kind of bacterial imbalance, but if that's the case, why wouldn't it show up on the Pap? 😕

Look, having some discharge that’s clear or whitish? That’s totally normal. But everything else? In my book, that’s definitely not.

Regarding the Pap smear—mine came back fine (mixed flora, no signs of inflammation) back when I was actually dealing with an ovarian infection. So, take any Pap results with a massive grain of salt when you're dealing with actual inflammation. It’s designed to catch cervical changes; it doesn't necessarily flag an infection. If I were you, I’d push for swabs. My own doctor dragged me along for months, insisting my Pap was fine and telling me it was "normal" for my ovaries to ache occasionally. He just had me cycling through every prescription antifungal imaginable—I think I tried everything available at the pharmacy—until he finally realized I wasn't going to drop it. He eventually ran the swabs, and sure enough, it was an ovarian infection, and I had to go on antibiotics.

If your gut says something is wrong, don't let them brush you off.

I asked my doctor to run some swabs, but she refused since there weren't any indicators on my Pap test that would justify further testing. My only option now is to pay for them privately, though I’m honestly not sure which specific ones I actually need—and let's face it, they aren't exactly cheap, and money is a bit tight right now. Anyway, did you deal with any unusual discharge along with that inflammation?

I see our group is here, so I felt compelled to write again...😁
The exact same thing happened to me (well, it's still happening), except even the Pope wouldn't help me out. If you can, please reach out via private message. It took me quite some time to figure it out, and it turns out it was some kind of bacterium that’s incredibly stubborn—you really only treat it if it starts causing symptoms (or during pregnancy). Being the Baksuz that I am, I haven't managed to shake it off since the beginning of the year, so now I'm left trying alternative methods and maybe one more round of antibiotics... I'll have to switch over to socialized healthcare next month because I've already poured way too much money into this, and honestly, I'm starting to dread what comes next.
The sooner you get this handled, the easier it is to resolve everything, so please, fight for your rights...😉

Ever since I hit puberty, I’ve always had a bit of an increased amount of vaginal discharge—you know, that mucus that lets me basically track my gynecological status just by looking at my underwear.
It was only recently that I found out I’ve actually lived with a mild case of cytolytic vaginosis all this time. That’s just the medical term for having a specific scent and taste that’s always been sort of sour, like yogurt—except on those rare occasions after taking antibiotics for a UTI, when it would take on a hint of fresh cottage cheese because the Candida would flare up.
My long-term partner didn't really mind this little olfactory quirk,
even if, at first, he was a bit puzzled why everything smelled more like a "dairy farm" rather than fish.
Personally, it didn't bother me one bit, but things started getting annoying when I used this vaginal antiseptic—which was prescribed for a minor, benign inflammation involving a basic state of Bacillus vaginalis
—and suddenly the smell shifted into this weird hybrid of fish and expired meat.
And the absolute worst part? I can't seem to get my old scent back no matter what.
Honestly, I’ve lost faith in gynecologists; instead of leaving things exactly how they were, they went and caused actual damage.
The amount of discharge has dropped so much now that I don't see anything on my panties anymore—let alone being able to distinguish, say, Candida from ovulation. Now, I literally have to stick a finger in there to pull out the secretions, which is a mess of brown menstrual blood that probably isn't exiting fully during my period, white mucus typical of ovulation, some white stringy stuff that looks like milk skin when it boils, and occasionally some strange little fibers.
It’s all pretty baffling to me because I’m not sexually active, so there’s zero chance this change came through any kind of sexual contact.

I’m wondering: how can I get my vaginal pH back to its original level so it’s once again a happy place for the amount of Lactobacillus that satisfies me? Is there a specific supplement for this? Because, truthfully, I actually liked the state of mild cytolytic vaginosis—it never gave me issues aside from that specific smell and taste. How do I restore my discharge levels to what they’ve been my entire life, especially since everything changed so abruptly in just a month or two?

I have no interest in going to a gynecologist to have my natural, unique self altered to fit some "standard" what women are supposed to be. My scent has always worked for me, and I don't want anything else. I’m terrified that no capsule or vaginal suppository can fix this, because I’ve already tried probiotics and probiotic suppositories, and nothing has brought back my old volume, my old scent, or my old taste.

Hey there! I went through the exact same thing, plus I gave birth last year around the 11th month...

I actually just used my last dose of the Medicated solution tonight. My Pap smear came back positive for Trichomonas vaginalis, so you might have had that too... Did you experience anything else besides the discharge and stinging? Any pain?

My partner finished his treatment; he didn't show any symptoms, though men rarely do.
