If you look at the local MMA gyms, they cover pretty much everything you listed—Karate, Taekwondo, Krav Maga. The one thing they won't really drill into you, though, is the actual throwing mechanics...😉 Maybe try mixing things up? Take one of those striking arts and pair it with some Judo or wrestling on the other side?

Check out www.profightstore.com for a directory of clubs
When it comes to Aikido, a lot of people will disagree with me, but I’m certainly not one of them...😬

seriously, what "again" are you even talking about? I already told you everything.

Are we feeling more like a classic American steakhouse vibe, or maybe something with that spicy Mexican kick?

Can I ask about Capoeira in San Diego... has anyone heard if they have classes on Main Street twice a week, like just for the weekend? Also, does anyone happen to know what the monthly membership fee is?
😛And is it actually true that Aikido is a good way to break bones?

Does anyone know of a solid boxing or perhaps a kickboxing club in the Chicago area, specifically around Lincoln Park or Wicker Park and the surrounding neighborhoods?
Thanks.
Thanks.

There's a Kung Fu Wu Shu club called Kobra - Zet over in Idalje at 105 Ozaljska. They're there on Mondays and Wednesdays starting at 7:00 PM. You can definitely swing by then to ask around and get the lowdown on everything.
It’s a solid club.
Highly recommend it!

Greetings... I’m reaching out from the outskirts of Cleveland, and I’ve developed a sudden, rather intense interest in picking up Hapkido. While scouring the web the other day, I happened upon some mention of a club calling itself "Drava," but the digital trail goes cold almost immediately. There is absolutely nothing listed regarding their training schedule, their physical location, or even a basic telephone number to reach them. It’s one of those frustrating modern mysteries where the information exists in theory but remains entirely elusive in practice. If anyone happens to possess any insight or perhaps a stray scrap of information regarding this particular club, I would be immensely grateful if you could share it. Much appreciated.

Here’s what I’m specifically looking into:

What exactly is this called—and is there anything like it near Cleveland or right in the city itself?

Is it gymnastics?
Or perhaps acrobatics?

Not sure, that's why I'm asking. Would something like this be available to "learn" anywhere near the Cleveland area?
EDIT: yeah, specifically acrobatics and gymnastics 😁

I mean those acrobatics and stuff—what’s the actual term for that? Is there a specific name, or did Team Ryouku just "invent" it themselves? Like, is it strictly their signature style... and I'm not talking about the movie here... 🙂
Could you find anything similar in a place like Cleveland? If so, where exactly?

I know the crew usually gets together on Friday nights to hold their competitions. It’s mostly gymnastics, breakdancing, Capoeira, and stuff like that. Just search for "Friday Night" if you want to find them.

Hey, seeing a lot of experts here, so I figured I'd ask.
I'm 20 and haven't done any combat sports before. Haven't been active lately either, so my cardio is basically non-existent.
I'm looking to get into something like MMA, but with a focus on stand-up rather than ground work. Though I guess it should be both. Just something effective enough if I ever need to defend myself on the street.🙂
I'm living over in the East Side, though that’s not a requirement—just a bonus. I saw some posts about a local gym nearby, but that seems more focused on grappling, right?
Not interested in competing. Head strikes are fine, provided there's decent protection. I don't want to show up to class or head home with a broken nose or a busted face from training.😛
Sorry if this is a bit disorganized. Hope it makes sense.
Anyway, help me out. Any recommendations?
If you aren't allowed to promote specific clubs here, just shoot me a DM. Not sure how the rules work on this place.
