There aren't really any "successes" to list, but there aren't any failures either... just because he hasn't released a movie doesn't mean he's failed...

The thing is, Cameron hasn't actually made a BAD movie yet (well, maybe if you count Piranha 2: Back to the Killing Lagoon)...

Carpenter just can't stop blowing it. His early stuff was mid at best, but I guess you gotta give him some credit for the production value. Everything else? Absolute garbage. Except for 'The Thing,' obviously. It still blows my mind that the same guy who directed total trash like Escape from New York, They Live, and Prince of Darkness actually made a masterpiece... not to mention those 90s flops.

It’s a shame Cameron didn't follow up Titanic ten years later, but hey, his choice—he wasn't hurting for cash or anything. Can't recall Killer Piranhas, but like redowl90 said, the man hasn't really made a movie that was just... mediocre. It wasn't even bad, it just wasn't good. If you had to pick his weakest link (besides Piranhas), it'd be the first Terminator. And honestly, I'm just waiting for Alita. Sounds like a decent enough replacement for that project I probably won't miss anyway—Avatar—which Cameron isn't even filming despite having the whole treatment ready.

Hold on, are you drunk or just being dense? Honestly, Terminator is lightyears better than Aliens, which is easily the most overrated entry in that whole franchise after the fourth installment, not to mention how Titanic falls short... even True Lies isn't quite hitting the mark compared to Terminator.👎

And as for Carpenter, you're totally missing the point; the man is a brilliant director, and The Thing is easily his masterpiece, but claiming the rest of his work is garbage is just foolish... though it is undeniably true he hasn't put out anything worth watching in quite some time...

I think you guys might be overreacting a bit regarding Cameron,

it’s not like Terminator is some bad movie—it’s got that tight mix of action, sci-fi, and drama—and I don't really think Aliens is worse than 3 or 4 either. I mean, maybe 3 can pass as a decent enough film, but 4 is just such a letdown compared to the rest of the series that I don't even count it as one of the Alien movies, I guess.

Who even said Terminator 1 was bad? Not me. Like I said in my first post, anything Cameron makes is at least decent... If I had to pick his weakest out of all those good ones, it’d be the first Terminator.

As for Aliens, of course some people are gonna hate it because it's one of the few sequels that actually tries something new instead of just remaking the first movie with a bigger budget. It’s got similar characters and themes, sure, but the whole vibe is different—it's a different genre entirely! Alien is pure horror, while Aliens is more like an action-drama...

The Alien series was easily one of the best trilogies ever made. Sure, the first one is untouchable, but the sequels are pretty much flawless. I avoided the fourth installment for years, finally gave in, and honestly? Big mistake. It’s a total void. I would've been better off rewatching a random episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine or something. 🙄

Steven Spielberg's War of the Worlds. I found the film deeply disappointing. It’s a mountain of special effects masking a shallow, overly sentimental family drama. I never thought I'd say this, but I'd honestly rather sit through Will Smith being irritating in Independence Day than watch another minute of this...

I’d love to see how other directors would have tackled Spider-Man, but honestly, Raimi probably gave us the best comic book adaptation we're ever going to get... though I still find myself regretting that he walked away from the horror genre...😢
