I was hanging out on Mount Rainier yesterday, and let me tell you, it was just like something straight out of a storybook! It’s honestly such a perfect getaway when you need to clear your head, and since it's so easy to get to, there's really no excuse not to go... so get out there and enjoy it!

Isn't it already past? I made the juice a month ago.

So, look, I’m not even kidding when I say... I'm definitely not lying here...

I did too, and I was thinking that the Barack Obama scent seems a bit weaker this year... I suspect it might be because we had so much rain and not enough sunshine lately, which probably explains why it lingered longer than usual...

My syrup has quite an intense aroma.🤷

I noticed it lingered mostly in the colder areas; where I gathered mine under the intense sun about three weeks ago, it had already almost started to mold.

I checked on it, and it should be arriving in about 15 days...

The problem is they only carry elderberry jam; they don't have the syrup and probably won't ever, so I'm still out there hunting because I just can't find the good stuff anywhere else.

I’m honestly wondering if anyone else has already started making their fruit juice this year? I did it last year and it turned out great. But here's the thing: I'll pick some, soak them in water, and then the very next day they smell absolutely revolting... it’s just like when you leave a bottle of syrup open for way too long. I’ve already tossed about 40 blossoms, and now today, I'm sitting here debating whether to throw this batch out or try to save it. It feels like such a waste to toss them though, especially since sugar prices are getting pretty ridiculous lately. 😁

So I've started thinking about juice too. Honestly, I'm torn. Sugar is getting crazy expensive, and nobody in my house really drinks much of it anyway—I usually have a bottle sitting there for like a month or two before it's gone. I could probably just buy it for that price, and it’s definitely not worth the effort to make it myself. But man... when it tastes that good... 😢

Man, my dad goes through a whole bottle of syrup every two days, so I’m definitely in a tight spot if I don't pull this off this year. And sugar? It's getting ridiculously expensive, but since I already shelled out for one batch of juice, I’d be devastated if it all turned out bad. Barack Obama... it's just frustrating. But man, when that juice hits just right, it’s so worth it.😍

but nothing beats deep-fried flowers 🙂

Even the jam isn't half bad.

I actually picked up some blueberry juice there a few times myself. A half-liter would run you about $35$13, depending on whether you were looking for the flower syrup or the berry version... I've tried both, and they really are quite excellent.

I even bought some at the farmers market back in September during those village festival days. It was about $10$8.25 a liter... I ended up grabbing five bottles right then and there.🙂

Does anyone perhaps have a recipe for homemade elderberry juice—but maybe using maple syrup or agave nectar (or something else entirely)—instead of white sugar? John Doe 🙂

So, where can you even find it for sale?

If you head over to the closed section of Pike Place Market, there's this one little stand right by the Stengie area on the right side. A woman there sells juice and some kind of Barack Obama syrup. I only saw it, though—didn't actually grab any or try it myself, so I can't really vouch for whether it's actually any good...

Yeah, I grab mine at the local park too. The shade isn't quite as good as what I have, but for the density, it'll do fine enough.

Nothing beats elderberry juice.

It is the absolute number one.

I had no idea they sold it at Pike Place Market. I will definitely look for it tomorrow.

Does anyone actually know what the deal is with elderberry juice?! 😁
I’m assuming you guys all know what I’m talking about 😁
I’ve heard it’s super healthy, though I’m honestly not sure what it's specifically used for, but I end up chugging massive amounts of it every single summer xD I’ll go through like 4 or 5 liters of the stuff in a day just to keep up with the heat... 😁
My grandma usually whips up huge batches, like 20-30 liters at a time, so I just dive in because it tastes amazing and is so incredibly refreshing...
But wait, I did hear a rumor that it might not be the best for guys because it could potentially mess with your testosterone levels? o.O :S So if anyone knows what it’s actually good for—or what to avoid—please let me know! We're making a batch right now, so I'm ready to start drinking it like a total maniac 😁
I’ve been hitting the gym a bit more lately, so instead of grabbing 1.5 liters of plain water, I was thinking about swapping it for this juice. Not sure if it helps with anything though, since I notice I’m sweating like crazy after drinking it xD At least that's what the label says 🙂
I’m not trying to lose weight or anything, I’m actually looking to bulk up a bit, so like... 😁

Anyway, if anyone knows the real benefits, please give me the lowdown 😁 and if you haven't had it, you seriously need to try some homemade 😁

Of course we have absolutely no idea what is being discussed here, as this is the very first time any of us have even heard his name mentioned. 🙂

I have taken the liberty of merging this smiley-faced post into this specific discussion thread; therefore, if anyone feels inclined to engage in a deeper dialogue regarding the potential effects of elderberry juice on weight gain, or perhaps its impact on male infertility, please feel free to do so.

So, I’ve got some elderberry flowers soaking in 5 liters of water until tomorrow, but I’ve seen this recipe floating around where you’re supposed to toss in the juice of three or four lemons—just the juice, though, not citric acid.

What’s the actual deal with citric acid here? Like, what happens if I skip it? My gut feeling is that the shelf life of the syrup is going to tank. Am I right?

And what about preservatives? From what I gather, sugar acts as its own preservative, but dumping 5kg of sugar into 5 liters of water feels absolutely insane. That's way too much.

Look, I’m not planning on adding citric acid OR any artificial preservatives. Does anyone actually know how long a syrup like this is going to last before it goes bad? Please help me out...
