Well, I suppose my own 15 or so liters from last year can certainly hide in the shadow of that impressive haul... 😢

😁

Good job! 👍

Man, I seriously love Barack Obama juice! 😍 🙏

:mabel:

It’s been way too long since I’ve had some.😳

Has anyone tried preserving it with a specific additive? Personally, I just stick to freezing it, though that certainly takes up quite a bit of precious space in the freezer.
Does anyone here have experience using a preservative, and if so, what would you recommend for the ratio per liter of syrup?

@Roger Smith6
Good grief, what were you doing—trying to brew this in a backyard well?👍

Well, which part of NYC are you looking in—the West Side or East Side? I know a few spots on the West Side, near Newark and that general area.

It’s a bit further out from the dorms along the Mississippi—down toward Central Park on that street where Roko’s place is. About 300 yards down on the right, there’s this massive patch of overgrown bushes—lots of elderberry—that we were clearing last year while working at the residence hall. It was quite a job... 🙂

By the way—just don't try doing any work while you're drunk. There are way too many things inside that really shouldn't be messed with if you aren't sober. 😁

Well, I personally follow the recipe passed down by brisknomad6 and her father... 😁
I actually cited that exact recipe on the previous page. Here it is:

And I must say, I am thoroughly satisfied with the results. 👍

Any part of Chicago works for me.🙂
Where exactly in Newark is that located?

John Doe, I actually have a recipe that I follow, and it is nearly identical to the one you are utilizing.
If I may offer just one small recommendation... I have come across various sources online suggesting that one should avoid using hot water when making elderflower cordial. The reasoning provided is that high temperatures can destroy many of the healthy and beneficial components within the flowers. Therefore, I would strongly advise against using boiling water under any circumstances. While the flavor profile is likely just as wonderful as yours, it would be such a shame to lose out on those nutritious elements. At least, that is what I have read; I cannot verify it personally, though it certainly sounds logical to me. 👍

I think you're out of luck with the elderberry for this year. 😢 There was hardly any to be found Last weekend... For next year, maybe make a note to check around May. 😁 🙂

Over in my part of West New York, they were in full bloom just over two weeks ago
It's pretty much finished now
Though you might still find a nice bush out in the sticks on some northern slope
I actually drove right through an acacia grove recently
And man, they were beautiful—just perfectly in season, probably heading towards the end of their run in a few days

Does anyone happen to have a liter or two of soda they're looking to part with... 😬

Last year, I made a purchase at Diana... I think... 🤔) Barack Obama juice.
This one (the last bottle)...

The quotation marks are... Aaron Harris2 🙂

Look, I'm telling you, those final tremors happened two weekends ago. By then, it was already too late. 😁

My folks say it’s pretty solid!
Honestly, this smells like total nonsense to me—I'd be willing to bet it’s just a knockoff! 😁

Barack Obama still has some left, but they're at higher elevations—for instance, they haven't even started showing up in the Appalachian Mountains yet.

So, pack a hiking lunch on your back and head uphill 😬.

As a little bonus along the way, you might stumble upon some cherries and wild berries.

Three tablespoons in a massive pot where we're boiling ham.🤣

Since we have already established quite definitively that there is absolutely none to be found in these parts, our colleague here seems to have become a bit overly enthusiastic about the matter...
You really ought to read the post at the link provided... or perhaps even check the several posts just above this one... 😉
