It’s the exact same thing for me—these terrifying pains. I can barely get out of bed. If it hits me while I'm at work or out somewhere, I just black out, start vomiting, and have no clue where I am or who I even am... it's horrific! I was basically in a coma for the first two days... then for the rest of the time, I still get these intense waves of pain, but honestly, compared to those first two days, it feels minor.
I was wondering if there’s anything else I could try that actually works? Not necessarily pills, though—I'm kind of done with swallowing medication all the time...
QUOTE]

I'm not sure if it'll help you since my issues were more of the "standard" type rather than what you're describing,😁 but usually, day one was brutal for me... Ever since I started taking PMS Free, nothing. I don't know if it's actually doing anything or if it's just a placebo effect, but hey, if it works, it works.👍
+ Also, try taking magnesium and drinking chamomile tea about 7-10 days before your period starts (have the tea in the evening to help you sleep).
Anyway, it won't hurt to try, even if it doesn't do much...

I see there's already a thread going about period cramps, but most of the talk over there seems to be just venting about how much they hurt and how basically nothing actually works...
So, I was mostly wondering which specific pills you guys usually grab on that first day, or maybe just whenever the pain gets so bad that you absolutely have to take something...
If possible, I'm looking for stuff that actually does the trick for you, something you're genuinely happy with, and that you can just pick up over the counter at a local pharmacy without needing a prescription?

I take Ketoral and it helps, though sometimes when the pain gets really bad, I end up needing 3 or 4 pills a day. I’m not a fan of relying on pills, but I guess you have to when it's necessary... I usually just pick them up without a prescription, although it seems like they're supposed to be prescription-only now. In my small town, you can pretty much get anything without a script, even antibiotics; I suppose it just comes down to whether you're willing to pay for it.

I take the Ketoral Forte because I need immediate relief. There is also a sustained-release version of Ketoral, which apparently works more slowly by releasing into the system gradually over time.
This Forte option can be taken every 10 or 12 hours. I haven't managed that schedule yet. During my chronic flare-ups—which will likely include tonight and tomorrow—the effects usually last about 8 hours maximum.

Alright, figured I’d jump in and share my own experience too...

My first period hit way earlier than expected, around 11 or 12, and from then on, things were just completely unpredictable...

For a while there, I was actually getting them twice a month... which meant I was basically living in pads. My mom would lose her mind, and honestly, I was terrified. Who wants to be 13 and constantly avoiding white pants, shorts, or any kind of physical activity because you feel like a walking crime scene?🙄

At first, the cramps weren't a huge deal, but after I had sex for the first time—I didn't connect the dots until reading this thread—it became a nightmare. Back then, I was on Yasmin, so it actually helped, but once I stopped taking it, my libido absolutely tanked and my misery started right along with it.

Truth is, my cycle is totally erratic; they usually show up every two to two and a half months, but when they do... sometimes the pain is so bad I seriously want to end it all. In the beginning, I’d try Neofen, then Advil, then Aleve, but last time I ended up taking some pill my ex’s mom had left over from her ovarian surgery... It finally kicked in after about an hour, but man...

Birth control helps with the pain, but I don't want to deal with the zero libido situation, so... yeah, I just sit there and suffer! What’s even worse is that lately, the last few have started causing cramps a whole week beforehand... and then I’m stuck on the toilet non-stop because I constantly feel like I have to go... and weirdly enough, it actually helps (as dumb as that sounds)!

Since I have a super sensitive stomach, I can't just hammer pills like crazy or I'll feel even worse, and at that point, I don't even know what's happening to me anymore. I should probably get mine soon, because those "daily" cramps are already starting to creep in...

And yeah... I don't know if it's just me, but I swear my immune system just tanks during this time. It hasn't happened once where I didn't end up with a sore throat or a cold right alongside it. That's exactly how it feels now, and I'm feeling so wiped out that I just can't mentally fight off the pain like people say you can... ugh.😢 😢

Good morning,
I believe some advice here would make survival easier... the disappearance hurts, but it probably won't happen...

tell me about it... I'm already stocking up on candy and chips. It's basically the only thing I can eat during those two days without feeling like it’ll come right back up before it even goes down.😢

Look, I don't know how old you are, but if I can help out with some advice, I'll be happy to. It's just a simple recipe from our grandmothers—something traditional that's worked for centuries. Just take a piece of gauze soaked in plain whiskey and apply it as a compress to your lower abdomen. Cover it up with your underwear and, well, following what most people suggest, maybe try lying down for a bit while listening to some light music. I guess it really helps. Believe me.🙂🙂🙂

My doctor recommended Navel tablets to me ages ago, and they're available at any drugstore without needing a script... I have to admit, I honestly don't know how I'd get through the month without them; nothing else even comes close to helping.

So, before I started taking Neofen... my period cramps were absolutely brutal. Then I started having sex, and suddenly everything was painful all over again. I wasn't on any birth control, so there was nothing to help. Believe it or not, I just found this remedy yesterday. At noon, the pain hit me so hard I was literally doubling over, just dying. My husband went out to grab something, and they gave him these Spasfon suppositories. Honestly? I lost it on him when he walked through the door with those. Like, seriously? Suppositories? But then, I tried one this morning. I won't lie, for the first few minutes, it felt pretty gross down there... but girls, oh my god, I don't feel a single bit of pain now. My stomach hasn't even twitched all day. I am genuinely so happy!🙂 Plus, they aren't expensive at all—only about $3.00. Sending kisses!

Ugh, I finally got hit this morning, and now I’m just barely able to sit upright. Of course, because life is perfect, we didn't have any Advil at home, and honestly, I can't function without it. Thankfully, my grandpa brought over some 500mg Ibuprofen he gets from his doctor for who-knows-what, and within about half an hour—relief.
They’re amazing. From now on, these are my go-to. I've spent the entire day just rotting in bed with a heating pad and two pillows piled on my stomach. When I think about how many more of these cycles I have left before menopause hits, I actually feel sick.😢

No, we have to reconcile with that because we were (un)lucky enough to be handed yet another Xić right when we were coming into our own😢

As someone who lives this reality, I find my experiences to be entirely consistent with what others describe. It seems to me that these pains aren't tied to innocence or any such notions; rather, they are simply a byproduct of our diet, environmental pollutants, and the general state of the modern world. From what I’ve gathered, women in previous generations didn't rely on painkillers and didn't deal with the heavy flows we see today. Of course, there are those lucky enough to have a three-day cycle without any discomfort, whereas I feel like a wrung-out rag when the pain hits, regardless of whether it’s the first or last day. On top of that, I’m running to the bathroom every fifteen minutes, dealing with nausea, and enduring cramps in both my stomach and my ovaries. I end up changing my bedsheets every single morning because I honestly can't find a night pad substantial enough to prevent bleeding through; I feel like I should just wrap myself in one giant pad. I truly try to avoid taking pills, but sometimes they are an absolute necessity. I once read in a book that alternating between hot and cold compresses might help by slightly "shocking" the ovaries. I’ve started placing a thermos under my lower back while applying a cold compress to my abdomen, and it actually does reduce the pain. That has become my go-to method whenever the discomfort becomes unbearable.
I sincerely hope that these new pills will finally make these painful, heavy periods a bit more manageable.

Honestly, I’ve been feeling so much less pain ever since I started taking Diane.🙏 This time around, I actually managed to get through it without even needing my pills—I just relied on some herbal tea. Heh.

Hey ladies, just wanted to share my struggle with you all. I started my period at 11, and from the very beginning, it’s been painful, heavy, and regular. My cycle first went haywire when I finished 7th grade, but that was just due to stress—I was starting middle school, dance classes, and extracurricular dance all at once. Everything stayed normal until freshman year of high school, where every month was the same nightmare: I couldn't even get out of bed in the morning because of the pain. I'd spend the entire day lying down and sleeping because I was completely incapacitated. I started with Tylenol, then moved to Advil—first the standard stuff, then the extra strength—and now I've graduated to Aleve. During freshman year, I actually missed my period for an entire year, only to be diagnosed during sophomore year with a prolactinoma that was messing with my hormones. Honestly, that year was such a relief—no acne, no cramps, nothing. My period returned in junior year, about six months after starting treatment, but since then, things have just gone from bad to worse. Right now, the cramping starts ten days before my period arrives, and by the first day, no amount of pills can touch it. The acne has calmed down, but once ovulation hits, there's absolutely nothing to stop it. My doctor told me that if things don't improve, she'll put me on birth control, so I'm just waiting for my next appointment, hoping that finally puts an end to this miserable PMS.

Well, I suppose it is my turn to share my own experiences with all of you...
My very first period arrived when I was just twelve years old, and everything felt perfectly fine, quite regular actually, lasting about four days without any complications whatsoever. I even had my first sexual encounter, after which there wasn't any change to my cycle at all; everything remained entirely normal. Then, around age seventeen, I was put on birth control pills—because, according to my doctor, I apparently had cysts on my ovaries or some such nonsense. I stayed on that hormonal therapy for about four years, until they finally decided to discontinue it, and not long after that, the pre-menstrual pains began to set in. At first, they were mild, but over time, they have steadily worsened, to the point where month after month I am essentially incapacitated by pain during the first two days of my cycle, which has also become much heavier and now lasts about seven days. Initially, Advil seemed to help, but I have eventually graduated to taking Spasmex twice a day...
I sometimes think that restarting contraception might provide some relief, yet on the other hand, I simply don't have the desire to mess with hormones again just to make those two days slightly less agonizing...
Oh, I almost forgot to mention the dizzy spells, which seem to be a constant occurrence whenever my period arrives.
