Kimberly Castillo2 said:missing your period is super common during those first few months. My OB-GYN told me the same thing, so seriously, don't sweat it😉

Personally, my curves popped out by almost two sizes! 🙂

I’m just jealous, 😁 mine are only for half. Maybe I should switch over to Qlaira, I guess. 😬

So, I’m currently on birth control, but I didn't manage to get my appointment scheduled with my gynecologist quickly enough—and since I'm entering month one, I’m going to need a new prescription. It’s actually been a full year since my last check-up, so she can't just call in a refill without doing a proper exam first. Honestly, I can handle skipping the pills for a bit, but what’s really weighing on me is the fear that my cycle is going to go completely haywire once I stop taking them. I have an appointment booked for month two, and I’m terrified that my period will decide to drag on indefinitely or cause some other drama that makes it impossible to make it to that follow-up. I was wondering if there are any specific supplements or tablets meant strictly for regulating your cycle? I feel like I read somewhere on a forum that you could find something similar at a CVS or Walgreens... if anyone has any insight, I’d truly appreciate it...

Mine was two weeks late—it helped a bit with the exam stress and all the sleep deprivation, but overall, just like my doctor said... my hormone levels were kept at some controlled baseline for so long. Now that I've stopped taking it, especially after being on it for a year like me, the body is basically in shock. It's just trying to regulate everything, and it’s going to take a while for those controlled levels to swing back to where they actually belong. 🙂

Regarding the increase in 🙂, I'll report back in a month on how the change from yaz-lindynette20 affected it 😁

Help, I have no idea what to do. I started taking Novynette 11 days ago on the first day of my period. Usually, my bleeding lasts about 4 or 5 days, but here I am, still bleeding bright, fresh blood on day 11. My stomach is hurting and I don't know if I should just stop taking them because this isn't normal. I'm going to try to see a gynecologist tomorrow to ask. Has this happened to anyone else? I feel terrible and I don't think I should be bleeding like this.🤷

Dear friends,
I have a question I’d like to pose, almost like a little informal survey for the group. I truly hope many of you will feel inclined to weigh in. 🙂

What I’m wondering is whether you find birth control pills to be sufficient protection on their own. Do you supplement them with other forms of contraception, or perhaps just rely on the withdrawal method?

The reason this is weighing on my mind is that I frequently find myself spiraling into anxiety about pregnancy, even though I’ve been on the pill for months—even years, actually. This month, I had a bit of a crisis; I ended up with a stomach bug and was vomiting about two hours after taking my pill, and I wasn't quick enough to realize I needed to take another dose immediately. Fortunately, my period arrived and everything seems fine, but it has left me questioning if relying solely on the pill is a gamble I shouldn't be taking.
I am well aware that no contraceptive is a hundred percent foolproof, but I am genuinely curious how the rest of you handle things. If you use extra precautions, what are they? And more importantly, do you deal with that same gnawing dread, waiting for your cycle to arrive with your heart in your throat?

Historically, I’ve always used secondary methods alongside the pill, but as I spent time reading through your posts here, I started to wonder if I was being overly cautious. Now, looking back, I suspect my old instincts were actually the wiser ones. 🙂

Please, do share your thoughts and advice, as I am incredibly eager to hear your perspectives!

No extra protection and honestly? I’m not even worried. I trust my gynecologist—she says if I'm actually staying on top of my pill, I don't need anything else. 😉

Look, life’s just a series of bad decisions wrapped in fancy packaging. You think you're making progress, but you're really just running on a treadmill that's bolted to the floor. Everything's a hustle. Everyone's got an angle. Honestly? Just grab a coffee, accept the chaos, and try not to let the cynicism bite too hard. Or do. It’s your funeral. kaže:
Ugh, I’m feeling so incredibly bitter right now. Just totally consumed by jealousy. It's pathetic, honestly. 😁 Half a chance for me. Honestly, maybe I should just ditch Yaza and jump over to Qlaira instead. 😬

Give it a shot. 😁 Look, unfortunately, there’s no magic formula for success. It’s different for everyone. Period.
Some people got theirs from Yazmina, some from Yaz, and as for me? I got mine from Claire! 😁

Oh, give me a break! Seriously? What a joke. 😉

Honestly, I feel completely secure just on the pill—I don't see any reason to bother with extra protection. ^^
I have a few friends who were on the pill for about six months and missed a period once—it eventually showed up, of course—but they got so spooked about being pregnant that they started using backup methods. As for me, I haven't had a single issue so far; I figure the pills do exactly what they're supposed to do, and that's that. 😁 Hopefully, I'm not jinxing myself here. 😁

Novynette definitely made her point too.

Personally, I don't bother with any extra protection—not even pulling out... To me, that would defeat the whole purpose of the pill; I take them specifically so I can be carefree and actually enjoy sex without having to run a mental checklist of contraceptive risks in the moment. I know they aren't perfect, but let's face it—the only thing more reliable than the pill is abstinence. 😛 Since I stay strictly on schedule, I don't see much reason to stress. 🙂

Hey there!
How much white discharge is actually normal when you're taking pills? 🤔
It’s just... pretty heavy 🤔

👋
So here’s the deal—I had surgery this past Tuesday. Once I got home, I took my birth control pill. It made me feel pretty lousy, so I ended up throwing it up. I tried taking another one afterward, just following the instructions, but I tossed that one too (probably because of the mix of the pill and my pain meds). Since I was getting more pain injections today, Wednesday, I skipped the pills entirely. Now I’m back home with a whole pile of Augmentin. According to the label, if you're on oral contraceptives and take Augmentin, you're supposed to check in with your doctor. I haven't had a chance to call my OB-GYN yet, so is there any female 😁 out there who has dealt with something similar? 🙂

Since the first day of this cycle, I have been taking Yaz. My period lasted a few days longer than usual, and even now that it has finished, I’ve noticed a slight discharge containing some blood, though it is quite mild... Is this an effect of the pill, or should I be seeking medical advice...

So, I was on birth control pills for a year straight. Stopped last September, but then restarted in December because my cycle is all over the place. Here’s the thing: five days before I started the pills again—right before my period—I had sex for the first time. My period lasted seven days this time instead of my usual five, and now I’m getting these light spotting issues. Sometimes I don't even notice it. Some people told me it’s just side effects from restarting hormones after a break, like how the first pack can mess with you. But honestly? I'm terrified it actually has something to do with having sex for the first time. What do you guys think?

No way, I don't use anything but the pill; it's plenty. Sure, those weird edge cases happen, but they're super rare, and if you follow the instructions on the pack, you've got nothing to worry about.😉

Hey, ladies. Hope you can help me out here. I’ve been on birth control for two years now. I started with Yaz, which was actually fine for a while, until one month my period just wouldn't quit—even after ten days. So, I switched over to Yasmin, and honestly, it’s been great so far.

But then there's the stuff... I get these brutal migraines during PMS, I've put on some weight (though I guess there are other culprits involved too), and my breasts have grown like two whole sizes. It’s kind of a mess, really, because for my height, I feel like I look totally disproportionate.

So, I was wondering, based on what you all have dealt with, is Loestrin supposedly the mildest option? Or maybe something else entirely? Don't worry, I'm not just playing doctor; everything I take goes through my OB-GYN, but I figured I'd do a little digging before I go in there and absolutely grill her. Thanks! 🙂

I don't know much about Cilest, but I know a lot of girls have been raving about Qlaira lately since it hit the market. Apparently, it releases more natural hormones and is supposedly pretty mild. 🤷
The only thing that surprises me is that your bleeding lasted ten days on Yaz; mine barely lasts two or three, I guess. 😲

I have a somewhat silly question, though I certainly can't be expected to sift through nearly 250 million pages of this thread to find an answer.
Better to look foolish than to make a mistake with an eighteen-year-old.

Before I head to my OB-GYN, should I first visit my primary care physician to request a referral for blood work so I can present those results to the specialist—or is it better to just go straight to the gynecologist and ask about starting pills?

I haven't started taking them yet.

Usually, you see the specialist first, and they’ll issue the referral for the labs. Once the bloodwork is done, the results hit the clinic's system in a couple of days—it's all digital now, I guess—and then you just swing back to pick up the script.🙂

Just a quick heads-up: selling meds is strictly prohibited on Health. Just putting it out there so nobody’s wondering why their posts keep getting nuked. 🙂

Does anyone know my chances of getting a prescription for birth control from a private OB-GYN without having to do blood work first?

I actually just had some labs done recently—totally unrelated, by the way—and everything came back fine. So, I really don't feel like dealing with the hassle again. I need to get my cycle under control so I can have a predictable period every month, and I just want the doctor to write the script so I can start on day one of my period.

Or maybe they could just give me the prescription now and let me go for the blood work a day or two later?

I've never taken the pill before.

Also, am I allowed to suggest which specific brand I want them to prescribe?
I want Yaz.

And can I even make an appointment just for that—just to get the script—without needing a full exam or anything like that?

I know, I'm asking a ton of questions. 🙂
Thanks!
