Is it actually normal to still be dealing with acne after being on the pill for about 10 months? Specifically Logest. Honestly, my skin is acting totally bipolar—some days it’s fine, other days it’s just a complete disaster. It feels like the breakouts are even worse than before sometimes. They mostly flare up right before my period hits, and they’re pretty painful, too.

On top of that, my periods have become super heavy since starting Logest, which definitely wasn't the case before. How open-minded are doctors usually when it comes to switching brands because of stuff like this?

Does anyone happen to know which specific tests I should probably have done before I actually start taking the pills? 🙂 I’d really love to get all my ducks in a row before I head in to see my gynecologist.
I’m aware that I definitely need to get some liver function tests checked out, but, err, what else should be on my radar?

I don't get it—why would you leave before then? She’s literally handing you the referral for every single test you need to undergo.

Any decent doctor should be willing to switch things up. If you feel like Loestral isn't working for you—and clearly it isn't—you've got every right to ask for something else.

Don't bother doing anything until you actually see the doc. You go to the OB-GYN first to get the referrals—they're the ones who decide which specific tests you actually need before you start the meds.

Thanks 😉
I'm heading out there this month, so I'll catch up with him then.

Just a quick financial question here! 😁 Does anyone else feel like Lindynette 20 has actually gotten cheaper lately? Usually, I find myself paying for about $23 two boxes, but this last time it only ended up costing me around $15?

I just started taking Logest, and this is my first pack. The instructions say you have to start on the first day of your cycle. Now I’m wondering if I really need to follow that strictly? I didn't wait for day one; I actually started them about seven days after my period ended. What kind of fallout am I looking at because of that? And is it going to mess with my birth control protection?

That’s definitely going to impact your protection—you’ll need to use backup protection for about a week (or whatever your specific instructions say)

Honestly, I don't think there are any major side effects other than the fact that your protection might be compromised. If I were in your shoes, I'd use extra contraception for the entire cycle just to be safe.

Previous post was nuked. Just a heads-up on the rules for the Women's Health subforum:
Direct advertising or trying to sell supplements, meds, or whatever else is a no-go. Like, if you've got an extra box of pills lying around and want to give them away or sell them to someone, please don't post about it here.

Hey ladies!
I’m working on my thesis about how oral contraceptives affect PMS symptoms, so if you could spare just 5 minutes of your precious time
to help me out with this research, I’d really appreciate it!
I still need quite a few more respondents—the only requirement is being between 18 and 45 years old.
Hopefully, this request follows all the community rules🙂
Thanks in advance!

Hey ladies 🙂
I usually see a private gynecologist, though I’ve visited Planned Parenthood before. Looking through some threads, it seems like Lindynette might be a solid option too, especially since they're more budget-friendly. Now, here's my question: I have supplemental insurance, so if I get a prescription from a private doctor, does that mean I’m stuck paying the full retail price, or will I just cover the copay?
All this talk about payment options has me feeling a little lost xD
🙂

I started taking Yaz about six months ago—partly for birth control, but also to deal with some unwanted hair growth. Honestly, when it comes to the hair situation, the results have been pretty undeniable. But now I’m sitting here wondering: if I decide to stop taking it, is everything just going to rush back? Does the hair return in full force? Has anyone else gone through this or dealt with the fallout?

I suspect that, unfortunately, it will. That was my experience, and quite frankly, things actually seemed to get worse for me afterward. I think that’s just how it goes with these pills; while you're on them, everything seems fine, but once you quit, it's a complete disaster.

Hey

I'm dealing with some issues regarding my period and I'm planning to get an ultrasound of my ovaries. But what if everything looks fine there? Should I head straight into hormone testing then?
Can I just do that blood draw for contraceptive checks? Is it the same thing?

Last year I was paying $11 for a pretty decent box, so yeah, they definitely have dropped in price.
I've been taking them for about 8 months now. I still have a few pills left, but I'm planning on stopping because of the side effects... 🙂

, mission accomplished. Using that questionnaire of yours just made me realize how many more side effects I've actually been dealing with without noticing... so I'm definitely quitting these...

So, I was scrolling through some threads on the forum and saw a few people saying that taking breaks from birth control isn't actually a good idea. Is that really the case? Like, shouldn't you let your body just chill for two or three months to reset from all those hormones before jumping back in?
I’m honestly super torn right now because I’m sitting here totally indecisive about whether I should take a break or just power through. 🙂
And yeah, I’ve also been low-key thinking about switching to a different brand of pills entirely, so I’m really curious to hear what you guys think about that too! 🙂

Nah, it’s not that—it’s more like your body gets used to that specific hormone dose, so if you just stop, it's like a shock to the system. And honestly, it might be even more of a shock when you try to start again after only two months.

Hey everyone,

Maybe someone’s looking for birth control? And they're hanging out in downtown Chicago?
Ordered some stuff from CVS and thought they’d be here by now, but apparently, they’re taking their sweet time.
And I'm in a rush, too.

For sale/trade.
I'll pay up or give it back whenever my people show up... however you want to play it.
It’s an emergency.
Slide into my DMs if you want.

Thanks.
