jadelynx32 said:I've been taking Diane 35 for years. Started them because of excess hair growth, but honestly, I'm seeing zero progress. I don't even have PCOS, but this body hair is absolutely killing me—I'm hairy everywhere, it’s a nightmare. 😢 Please, I need advice. Should I just quit since they clearly aren't doing anything, or should I stick with them a bit longer? The only thing I've actually gained from them is a constant fear of blood clots. -.-

Look, I have PCOS and I deal with chin hairs myself (not an excessive amount, but they're definitely there). I was on birth control for seven or eight years straight and saw absolutely zero improvement; they're still right where they were. I handle mine with professional waxing rather than plucking them myself. If there was going to be any visible change, it would have shown up within a year, so unfortunately, I'm not exactly an optimist here. But honestly, if your hormone levels are technically fine, then the issue isn't the hormones, which might be why the pills aren't working. Sometimes it’s just genetics, plain and simple, and there isn't much you can do besides maybe looking into laser treatments—though I don't know much about that stuff, so I won't pretend to be an expert. Maybe someone else here has more experience and can offer something a little more positive or give you actual direction on what to do next.

Greetings. Is there anyone here who has been on birth control for more than six years? I have been taking Yasmin since I was 19, and I am now 25. How did you all feel after stopping the pill after such a long duration... Did your old symptoms return?

I was on them for about seven years before I quit roughly four months ago. As for my cycle, things have reverted exactly to how they were before the pills—meaning, no period at all. My acne is still somewhat under control, though it’s flared up a little bit, nothing too crazy. That’s pretty much everything I dealt with prior to starting medication. Honestly, I feel just the same as I did while on them because I didn't really have any major issues to begin with.

Can anyone help me out with birth control prices? 🙂 So, basically, I’ve been on Yasmin for about a year and a half now—and honestly, the cost wasn't even a huge deal because I used to just grab it while visiting Canada ($25), but then this lady at my local pharmacy here back home totally blindsided me with a price tag of $37! Since I see a private doctor, I already know I'm paying a premium for my pills (and maybe my complaining about money sounds a bit extra/illogical, but still...), though I’d probably stick with what I have anyway just because I really don't want to switch brands and risk having some weird side effects with something else...

Since I *am* actually looking to switch things up, and my gynecologist will probably suggest something with a similar formula (I'm assuming, since Yasmin worked perfectly fine for me), I’d really love to get an idea of what other options cost—specifically some more budget-friendly ones. Trying to find info online is such a nightmare, it's like they're keeping the prices a state secret or everything I find on forums is from like, five years ago...

If you guys could let me know which brands you've bought lately and what you actually paid, it would be such a massive help 🙂 thanks!!

It’s not just about pills being dirt cheap in Canada; honestly, how can you even think about continuing to shop over there?

I know those Triquilar things used to be dirt cheap, but honestly, let's just leave that in the past—it was so long ago I can barely even remember the prices anymore.
I’m thinking the price for those is probably hovering around the hundred-dollar mark here in the States, though who knows if they’ve hiked it up lately. As for me, I grab my Dianas on prescription, so I don't have to shell out a dime.

Go grab those recipes from the social safety net! Medicare's started subsidizing part of the pill costs; mine only ran me about $50 last time.

Belara goes for about $24 here, but it's only about €6 in Canada.

Does anyone here take anything like Advil or similar stuff alongside their meds? Like, is it actually okay to mix them?

I'm in the exact same boat as you. I took them for a year before giving up and switching to Loestrin, which I used at first without any side effects or issues. With Diane, I saw absolutely zero progress regarding hair growth; all I got were the side effects (depressive episodes, zero libido, water retention, and occasional heart palpitations, etc.).
I don't have PCOS or any obvious hormonal issues either, so it leads to the conclusion NoStress mentioned—it's just genetics.
My advice is to find a routine for managing the hair as painlessly as possible and just accept it. It’s exhausting, and the insecurity can drive you crazy, but there isn't much else you can do. Switch to something lighter; there's no point in suffering through these if they aren't working. Obviously, talk to your doctor before making any changes.

Can my GP actually write me a script for one pack of birth control?
I checked the price at a pharmacy and now my son is throwing a fit because he won't write the prescription since, apparently, I didn't ask permission first.🙄
Even if it's just a private script, I just want to settle the debt.

Hey ladies.
Got two questions.

Does anyone know how much Adexa pills go for?

Also, which ones have the lowest hormone levels?

Thanks!

I picked up some Adexa, it was about $80$30 per unit

Adexa isn't even close to being that much. 🙂
Right now, the price is around $17—don't quote me on that, but my brain keeps telling me it’s closer to $16. It’s just a tiny bit cheaper if you go with the three-month supply.

I have a bit of a question. I’m 22 years old. So, I’ve dealt with cramps and uterine pain quite often, and my doctor told me that I have PCOS. I was prescribed Diane 35, and I’m supposed to start taking it once my period arrives—which should be in about a week. But then, four days ago, I started having this brownish discharge, and it just won't stop. I went to see my gynecologist, and he mentioned that it’s normal, though he couldn't really explain why I'd be in pain since there isn't any sign of inflammation or anything. I’ve never experienced anything like this before, and it feels... strange. Has anyone else ever gone through this? And why does this "ovulation bleeding," as my doctor called it, seem to last so long? Thanks.

Hi ladies,
I could use some help. I'm not entirely sure if I started my first pack of birth control correctly. As you can see in the photo, I began on Thursday (circled in red), and today I'm on the third row. I'm supposed to take another pill this Thursday, too. What confuses me is whether I actually have to loop back to the very first row next week to take the final pill before the break? I guess I might have messed up. image
Thanks for any input, 🙂

Hey, I’m about to start taking birth control for the first time. My OB-GYN prescribed Softinelle P. Anyone here actually used these before? There’s basically zero info online, except for some random forums out of the Czech Republic...
