cure, I have a question. I started this cycle with Yasmin, and after my flow finishes, I’m experiencing a slightly longer period of that brown discharge—though it’s a bit thinner than what I usually see at the end of my period. Is this something that happens throughout the entire time you're taking it, or is it just during the first few cycles? I thought about asking Dr. Gin, but I already called him a few days ago with about a hundred different questions, and I honestly feel a bit embarrassed to bother him again, especially if this turns out to be perfectly normal.

It isn’t typical for every cycle, but it is quite common for the first or the first two to three.

Could someone please help me out if you happen to know the answer... I was taking my second pack of Yasmin, but I stopped after the eighth pill... so, will I get my period in the next few days since I quit, or will it follow the usual pattern 28 days after my last period started?? ☕

By disrupting your cycle slightly like that, it’s hard to pin down an exact date for the next one, but you're likely looking at about 28 days rather than something immediate.

You’ll most likely see some spotting or perhaps even actual bleeding within three or four days once you finish that last pill. I actually went through this myself once—I stopped halfway through a pack, and that was exactly what happened. As for your regular period, you should expect it to show up right when you’re anticipating it...

Sorry, I wasn't sure where to post this, and I can't seem to open that thread above. Anyway, I'm done with my break from Yasmin and need to get back on the pill. (It was a month-long break, and I didn't get my period). I'm wondering how long it took you guys to stop using condoms? Was it two days, a week? Just asking for info, because I honestly can't deal with condoms anymore—they've become totally revolting to me...

So, here’s my current situation; I just started on Yasmin, specifically starting on day one of my period. I managed to get through five pills before deciding to stop. My doctor actually wrote me a prescription for Logest instead, and rather than waiting out that standard seven-day break everyone talks about, they advised me to jump straight onto the new pack on the very first day of my cycle. The logic was to avoid throwing my already chaotic hormones into even greater disarray from the initial switch. So, as it stands, I’ve transitioned over to Logest.

Wait, why on earth did you take a whole month off? That makes zero sense. 🤷 You might have actually gotten your period if you’d waited longer. Plus, you really should wait until your period starts before jumping back on. If you start on the very first day of your cycle, you're good to go from day one. Though, most doctors will tell you to play it safe and use a condom for that first week just in case.

Just to add a bit more context to that; my period actually showed up five days after I quit the Yasmin.

I’m curious—could vaginal dryness actually be a side effect of Yasmin? I was on it for about three months, and after two cycles, I definitely noticed this constant dryness—and I don't just mean during sex, it’s a persistent thing. I’ve decided to stop taking them because I’m convinced they’re the culprit. Does anyone know how long it typically takes for everything to get back to normal, assuming this really is a side effect of Yasmin?

My OB-GYN actually told me to keep using protection for the entire first month—because apparently, the female body is just weird and anything can happen. Like, we aren't counting on it, obviously, but better safe than sorry, right?

Yeah, it absolutely can.
It happened to me too. Honestly, every single birth control pill I've ever tried has left me feeling bone-dry.😢

So, here’s the deal. I came on here because I’m looking for some advice from the ladies who actually know what they’re doing in this area 🙂
Here’s the situation😛Last year, around July, I started taking Yasmin (my OBGYN didn't even bother to run any blood work first)... I took it for a few months, but the bleeding was happening every other month and it lasted the WHOLE MONTH! It was honestly exhausting...
The takeaway was that Yasmin was too weak for me, so they switched me to Loestrin (which is even weaker, but hey, who am I to argue?)—well, that turned out to be a total disaster. First month, I had nausea and vomiting, then constant bleeding, just feeling totally wiped out... I pushed through it for seven months before I finally said ENOUGH! I was seriously drained, and then Triquilar gave me a little glimmer of hope.
Basically, the first month on it was fine until things got ugly, and I was literally bleeding constantly—it was almost black in color.
Month two was relatively okay, just a bit of spotting (honestly, seeing just a few drops after all that was such a relief), so I started hoping my nightmare was over...
But nope, it wasn't over yet.
Month three hit, and I had this random spotting before my period, but then my actual period just skipped. I took a test and it was negative. My doctor was basically like, "If the test says you aren't pregnant, you aren't pregnant, period." He wouldn't even give me a proper exam... like, okay, whatever.
Now, I'm on my fourth pack... and my vision is getting blurry, I'm dizzy, getting sharp headaches, just feeling super weak...
The vision thing is what's really freaking me out though...
Does all of this mean I shouldn't be on birth control at all?
Has anyone else gone through something similar?
And also, can someone tell me how to actually check everything? Like, should I get blood work or specific tests done?
It’s scary to think I might be taking these when I really shouldn't be, and I don't even know...
Please, if you've been through this, let me know what happened to you🙂

Keep swapping them out until you actually find the right one—because let’s be real, none of these are even close to what you need. And honestly, it’s not even about whether you did your homework or did some deep dive online—the first thing you should’ve done was ask her about her family medical history, period.

I haven't experienced any negative side effects from my birth control pills (I'm on Logest), but I would definitely recommend that you stop taking them.
Maybe oral contraceptives just aren't the right fit for you. If you really want to stay on the pill, I’d suggest seeing a different gynecologist—if you can—to explain this whole situation in detail and get all the necessary blood work and hormone testing done.
Good luck.

That’s what he asked... nobody in my family ever took them (not even my mom or grandma 😉)
I'm getting worried... plus I have no clue what else to try next 🤷🤷
What other options are out there?
I looked for Stediril-M but it's not available here in the States...👎

My doctor is amazing... but he's totally booked up until December... way too busy... and this other guy, ugh, honestly, he was just a total 5/10$200 after the exam 👎

Lisa Adams5, what made you make the switch to Logest?
