Quick question
So, I started taking Diane about 10 days ago because of some hormone issues and anemia.
Everything seemed fine, but lately, my breasts have been aching for a few days straightโ€”exactly like they do right before my period. My period actually ended last week, so why is this happening? Anyone know?๐Ÿ˜

Oh, and one more thing. Once I finish this pack, if I started on a Friday, when should I start the next one? Should I restart on the following Friday or wait until Saturday?

Dear all..

I am currently taking Yasmin 5mg. My period is due this coming Friday, but my sister is getting married on Saturday, and since the second day is always my absolute worst, I was hoping to push my cycle back by about three days. Is that actually possible? I have read accounts of people shifting their timing by an entire week, and a three-day delay would suit me perfectly, especially as it would also shift my monthly cycle dates.

On another note, a friend of mine who has done this beforeโ€”and she consulted her gynecologist, whereas unfortunately mine seems to be away on vacationโ€”mentioned that I should just take the entire pack. How much more harmful is that compared to merely delaying it for a few days, and does it impact contraceptive effectiveness at all? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I realize everyone reacts differently, but has anyone here experienced any side effects?

So, I actually tried postponing my period once by just taking extra birth control pills for however many days I wanted to push it back. For instance, if you're looking to delay things by three days, you basically just keep taking the pill for an extra three days. In my opinion, itโ€™s probably not the healthiest way to go about it, but doing it just once isn't going to cause any major issues for you.

Thatโ€™s actually pretty common. Iโ€™m on Logest myself, and I deal with breast tenderness all the time. They even feel a bit swollen sometimes. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

I actually registered specifically just to ask a totally dumb question because I'm such a klutz ๐Ÿ˜ข

So, I was supposed to start a brand new pack todayโ€”but since Iโ€™m a total space cadet, I completely blanked and didn't take my pill until just now, like, 12:40 AM. Does that technically count as a new day? Like, did I totally screw up my whole schedule for the month ๐Ÿ˜ข or can I just keep taking them normally even if my timing is a little bit wonky? Also, just a heads-up, I usually take them in the evening, pretty late too.

Don't sweat the small stuff. You can take your pill within a roughly 4-hour window of your usual schedule, so youโ€™ll be perfectly fine taking it tomorrow around 10 PM and just keeping that rhythm going. It'll all work out. Personally, my timing isn't set in stone either; I just make sure to take mine before hitting the hay. Some nights it's 11 PM, some nights it's 4 AM, and most often it's around 1 AM. Everything stays on track regardless. ๐Ÿ˜‰

So, I know I don't strictly have to stick to the exact same time every single dayโ€”that's not the ruleโ€”but I was totally stressing out about when the "first day" actually counts. Like, since I had my dose after midnight, does that technically mean I started on Friday instead of Thursday? Because I definitely intended to start on Thursday... haha. Anyway, Iโ€™m probably just overthinking things and spiraling for no reason, but hey, it doesn't hurt to double-check, right? Thanks! ๐Ÿ™‚

Periods don't really care about what time it is, so you can certainly take it after midnight if that works better for you.๐Ÿ˜‰
I actually know a girl who preferred taking the pill in the morning just because it felt more convenient for her routine. The main thing is to ensure you don't start your course within 24 hours of finishing your last period, as that effectively counts as starting on day two. Whether your flow starts at 8:00 AM or 8:00 PM, you could still take it around 10:00 PM that same day since it technically falls on the first day. So, please don't worry too much about it.๐Ÿ˜‰
The only real complication arises if you experience that irregular spotting where you aren't quite sure if it qualifies as your actual period. My doctor advised me that in those instances, itโ€™s best to hold off on the pill until the regular flow truly begins.๐Ÿ˜

So, itโ€™s not like this is my absolute first box or anythingโ€”itโ€™s definitely not my first day dealing with cheesecake ๐Ÿ˜ actually, it doesn't even matter right now, but I just wanted to get that out there. Thursday is my 8th day off, which is when I start the new gig, you know? But whatever, I guess it all works out the same.

I'm done. I won't let this pile up on me anymore. This is enough. ๐Ÿ˜

How can that possibly be normal? How can it actually hurt like that? ๐Ÿ˜ข I don't want any part of this. I just hope it stops soon.

hey, i'm 18 and wanted to ask you girlsโ€”what birth control are you on? I know a checkup with the OBGYN is mandatory once you start, but what kind of tests do they actually run? Like, what are they looking for when you show up there......also, does it make you gain weight? And do breasts get bigger? I heard that was a thing.๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™‚?????

Here is the evening update, including the full article link -->

The Vatican maintains that birth control pills equate to abortion, environmental destruction, and the violation of fundamental human rights.

Iโ€™m struggling to see how it counts as an abortion when its entire purpose is to prevent pregnancy in the first place. ๐Ÿ™„

In many instances, the contraceptive pill results in an "abortive effect and devastating consequences for the environment," as it leads to "tons of hormones being released through women's urine," and is cited as a contributing factor to "male infertility" within Western nations.

And how exactly does it cause male infertility, considering they aren't the ones taking the pills (at least, not yet)?

Contraceptive methods infringe upon at least five essential human rights, according to Castellvi, who lists them as: the right to life, health, education, information, and gender equality.

The last one I saw was on Thursday.
I told them I need to get a reduction, you know?
So, does that mean I'm starting the second blister pack this Thursday too, Pit?

You were drinking when you started last time... so that would've been Friday, right?

May I pose a question? Iโ€™ve been wondering why gynecologists prescribe birth control pills to women who haven't been diagnosed with PCOS. Does the medication actually provide any benefit in those instances? Furthermore, if we consider PCOS to be a hormonal disorder, is it strictly necessary for blood tests to show elevated hormone levels? In my own experience with PCOS, my hormone levels were perfectly normal...

Iโ€™ve been taking birth control pills primarily because my hormone levels have plummeted significantly below the baseline minimums... though they do serve as my contraceptive method as well... however, I don't actually have PCOS... my ovaries are functioning perfectly fine...

such sheer idiocy... I truly cannot decide whether to laugh or weep at this absurdity ๐Ÿ™„

Allana, women take these pills for a multitude of reasons. I take mine because of endometriosis, some deal with PCOS, others use them strictly for contraceptionโ€”there are endless motivations. Occasionally, it is simply a matter of addressing a hormonal imbalance that isn't even tied to another underlying disorder.

Alright, thanks... but regarding my own situation, if my hormone levels are actually within the normal range, I'm not entirely sure if I even need to be on the pill despite having PCOS. I suppose I haven't had a full workup on my ovaries yet to see if there's any secondary impact, but aside from some acne, I don't have any issues. My cycles are regular too... which is what's making me feel a bit conflicted about it all.
