God, embolisms are scary... from what I know, it could be a sign of a blood clot. And honestly, it's not just in the lungsβ€”it could happen anywhere else too.

Does anyone know how long antibiotics stay in your system and mess with birth control effectiveness? Specifically Yasmina?

I was on Augmentin while taking Yaz, and my OB-GYN told me the birth control wouldn't lose its punch. There is a specific group of drugs that actually does interfere, though. I’ll pull up a list from the web so you can check...

Drugs that decrease the effectiveness of oral contraceptives
Carbamazepine
Ethosuximide
Metronidazole
Phenobarbital
Phenytoin
Primidone
Rifampicin
Tetracycline
Troglitazone

Oral contraceptives decrease the effectiveness of:
Clofibrate
Lorazepam
Oxazepam
Temazepam
Salicylates

Oral contraceptives enhance the effects of:
Benzodiazepines
Beta blockers
Caffeine
Corticosteroids
Tricyclic antidepressants
Theophylline

I was on Amoxicillin, and according to the label, it can interfere with oral contraceptives.

Wait a sec... what do you mean it’s not just in your legs? Like, if my arm starts hurting, say the upper arm area, does that count too?
I’ve honestly only ever heard about it happening in the lower legs...🀷

Honestly, an abscess can pop up pretty much anywhere, from what I know... basically any part of your body 🀷

I mean, it’s definitely not just localized in the leg or the calf... if that's the case, does it actually trigger a blood clot right there then?πŸ˜•

It’s scary when a clot forms right there... if that thing travels to your brain, heart, or lungs, you're in big trouble. Honestly, it can be dangerous anywhere since it blocks the vessels, but those three are definitely the worst-case scenarios!

I have been using Yasmin for years now (I tried the long-term approach once, but it just didn't work out for me). Naturally, I take breaks of about six months every so often, but I always find my way back to good old Yasmin. 😁
I am curious to hear your thoughts on somethingβ€”is it possible that birth control pills could cause more frequent heart palpitations? I have some minor issues with my heart valve, and it feels to me like when I'm taking the pill, my heart skips beats or gives me those sharp, stabbing sensations more often. My gynecologist and my cardiologist both insist there shouldn't be any connection... but what do you all think? πŸ˜•

My heart keeps racing because of my thyroid issues; I’ve never actually made the connection to birth control pillsβ€”though, for all I know, that might be the culprit 😁 but if I were in your shoes, I would certainly investigate other potential causes first.

πŸ€” How can I tell if a clot is actually what's causing the pain? What does that kind of pain feel like?

I am just looking into this so I don't end up 😁

On another note, I feel like I've gained weight from taking Trinovum, much like I did with Triquilar. It looks like I will have to switch birth control pills again. πŸ™„

When I started getting cramps in my calves while taking certain pills, my doctor told me to stop taking them immediately because of potential issues. He even suggested I take some sort of "blood thinner"β€”if I remember correctlyβ€”as a preventative measure.

Ah, so you mean like cramps, I see. πŸ™‚ I’d rather not start sprinting for the gin every time I feel a little discomfort, even if it's just from walking. πŸ™‚

There's actually a whole thread on health topics about "Deep Vein Thrombosis."

People online are saying the pain is intenseβ€”like, we aren't talking about some minor discomfort you can just brush off, it's serious stuff.

Trust me, this pain is "different." I’ve had my fair share of muscle cramps after intense workouts, so I know exactly what I'm talking about. This isn't something you can just brush off as typical soreness; it was so debilitating that I literally couldn't walk. I found myself gripping the leaves of the plants just to find some relief from the agony.

The doctor was a bit indecisive about my diagnosisβ€”he couldn't decide whether to send me for more testing to confirm if I actually have endometriosis or if we should just "wait and see." Either way, I feel perfectly fine right now, but this whole situation has completely stripped away my options. Because of this episode, I can't take standard birth control pills or even use anything with the same ingredients. My only real choices left are Mirena or Cerazette.

Ugh, help! So, I started taking birth control pills for the very first time yesterday. I popped them at around 10:30 PM, but then by 6:00 AM, my stomach was doing absolute somersaults and I spent the entire morning throwing up. 😒😒 I’m assuming everything is fine since it had been about two or three hours before I felt sickβ€”so the pill should have already been absorbed, right?β€”but honestly, I’m terrified to even touch the second one because I can't handle feeling this miserable again. How much longer are these side effects going to drag on? Seriously, I actually have stuff to do today, and I felt so incredibly awful that I ended up stuck at home. 😒
Please, tell me what your initial experiences were like. πŸ€·πŸ˜‰

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a reliable gynecologist, perhaps someone in the local area, because I find myself at a bit of a loss regarding what my next steps should be and would truly value some guidance on how to proceed.
If you aren't entirely certain that your symptoms are being caused by the Tylenol, I might suggest taking another dose just to be absolutely sureβ€”though I suppose that isn't the most scientific approach. Honestly, I completely understand how overwhelming it feels when your schedule is packed and you simply don't have the luxury of "experimenting" with your health. That said, I really do think it would be best to consult with your doctor; they are truly the only ones who can give you the clarity you need.

I’m 23, and I’m thinking about starting birth control.
One reason is that my periods have been brutal lately, and the other is pretty simple: I’m a total wreck when it comes to pregnancy anxiety. 😁 😁
I’ve been weighing this for a year now. Honestly, hearing those horror stories about girls dying from them gave me a bit of a scare.

I take my health seriously. If my OB-GYN doesn't suggest specific tests, I’ll definitely ask for them myselfβ€”I know doctors sometimes skip that step, and I don't want to take chances. I'd also insist on an annual blood panel. 😁 😁

I’m also sweating the side effects I’ve read about: breakouts, mood swings, weight gain. It would be a real shame because I finally got all of that under control. 😁

Is there actually anything to worry about here? πŸ™‚
What would you guys recommend?

I would personally suggest Yasmine
I used them for a few years and didn't experience any side effects... absolutely none at all
Periods got a bit shorter and were significantly less painful; the only issue was my skin felt slightly drier, and my hair too

With regular checkups and monitoring, I don't think you should be worried at all

You can't just recommend pills to her; what worked for you doesn't guarantee it will work for someone else. In my case, Yasmin left me with a mess that took me months to fix... πŸ™‚
