That is absolutely not how you delay a period.

I’m dealing with the exact same issue as hollowranger22 and Ethan Perez5; just when I finally have a chance to spend a few days with my boyfriend, my period decides to show up. I really wish I could push it back a couple of days.
If my doctor won't help, does anyone know what works—something you can just grab over the counter at a CVS or Walgreens?

There isn't any pill you can pick up at a drugstore to cure procrastination, especially not without a prescription.

Oh, yes I can. I went through the exact same thing two years ago. I bought Yasmin and started taking them two days before my trip to Florida because I really needed my period to start then. After I finished the pack—all 21 pills—my period showed up about two to four days later... right as I was getting back from vacation.

I think taking birth control solely to delay a period is actually 😱 I took them for about a year. After that, it took me another seven or eight months for everything to return to normal. Now, just imagine how that feels if you take them for a single month and then stop immediately.. 🙄 I’m sure the body finds that absolutely delightful. 🙄

I’ve been on Cileste for almost two years now, and honestly, they were fine until about four months ago. Suddenly, the weight started piling on like crazy—I’ve gained 10 kg in just these last four months! And of course, it had to happen right before summer starts... I’m so incredibly frustrated that I actually talked to my boyfriend about stopping them entirely and just using other forms of protection instead. Now I’m stuck trying to shed these pounds. It’s definitely not easy trying to get from where I am now at 65 kg back down to my old weight of 55 kg from four months ago... Total nightmare!

I guess it probably only started reacting this way in the last couple of months, because I never had any issues with it before, even though I’ve been taking Cileste for a long time. I’m 22, by the way... bye!🙂

Basically, I still have that prescription from my OB-GYN for birth control pills (Cileste). I was taking them for a while, but I haven't touched them for about two months now.
So, here's the thing: I just realized that during the only three days this summer when I’ll actually have some alone time with my partner, I’m supposed to be on my period. That’s happening in about 15 days—right in the middle of my cycle. Can I start taking the pills now? I really want to push my period back, even just a little, to get that effect from the medication...
What do you all think?
I know playing around with hormones isn't exactly something you should... mess with, but these three days of privacy and solitude are everything to me this summer, so...

I used Cileste a few years back to delay my period... I guess you start taking them a week before you expect your period to arrive, and then it won't come. Once you stop, you can quit right away, but then you'll likely get your period immediately!! I hope that helps.. bye! 😁

I need some advice here 😁
I’m on birth control, and I’ve only got 11 pills left in this pack. Usually, my period kicks in about 4 or 5 days after I finish them. The catch? My beach trip starts exactly on the day I'm expecting to start bleeding. So, I'm stuck weighing my options. Which is easier on the body: stopping the pills right now so I can hopefully get my period out of the way next week before I head out, or just finishing this pack and starting the next one immediately? I read somewhere that skipping the break doesn't guarantee you won't bleed anyway, so it’s a bit of a gamble.
Look, I already know neither option is ideal, but since my period usually lasts about 6 days, and I'm going to be at the shore for 10 days total, I really have to pick one way or the other. 🙄

I used to do the exact same thing—stop taking my pills early just so I could get my period sooner. Usually, I’d stop when I had about three left; I never messed with a larger amount because things always went sideways and my cycle would shift. Everything eventually stabilized, but I'm telling you again, I never did it with that many pills. That’s half a box.

You know, whenever I felt like putting off my period, I’d always just keep going with the next pack—I actually ended up finishing an entire second box, which basically meant I skipped a whole cycle. I did this a couple of times over the years, and honestly, everything seemed perfectly fine every single time...

That’s exactly why I came here to see what everyone else has dealt with. Honestly, I think stopping now might actually make things worse since I still have so many pills left. Shifting things by just three days isn't going to change much for me...

You didn't end up bleeding or dealing with any other nasty side effects?
That’s a lot... taking two boxes at once kind of scares me. I'm worried about what it might do to my system. 😁

No, I didn't have any bleeding. I actually went and talked to my gynecologist about it, and he told me that either option is perfectly fine—I could either stop before finishing the current pack so I get my period, or I could just move straight into the next pack. I didn't deal with any negative side effects whatsoever. He basically suggested that I could either finish this pack completely and then take just enough pills from the next pack until I feel ready to start my period, and then just go back to my normal routine from there. Personally, I think that would be the best way to handle it.

Of course, provided you don't go making a habit out of applying it too frequently.

You’ll be fine. People do this all the time when they're switching pill brands or packs. I actually just did that myself—I finished my last pack and started the new one immediately the next day, and I didn't have any spotting or bleeding at all. Just don't make a habit out of it. Doing it once shouldn't cause any issues.

I've been on and off these pills for about two years now, but I've never actually had to guess when my period was coming until just now. It's stressing me out because I have vacation plans, and I really don't want to spend my whole trip sitting around feeling miserable.
My main priority was checking in with some girls who've been through this to make sure I wasn't totally alone in this mess.😁
So, I did the math, and it looks like if I just take four extra pills, I should be fine. Honestly, I think I'll just take those four and let my body settle back to normal. There’s no point in blowing through an entire box just to fix a four-day window, right?🙂
Thanks for all the help, everyone!😉

I completely agree—that sounds like the best plan! Just take those four little pills from the second pack and you'll be good to go, just like always! 👍

Been using Yasmin for about a year now.
Pretty happy with it—my chest actually grew a bit, which is nice.😁
Put on a little weight too, I guess my appetite just kicked in out of nowhere.
Haven't bothered with any blood work or anything—probably gonna stick with it for a while longer.🙂

Look at you saying "finally someone smart." Honestly, thinking that way does more harm than good. As long as you're getting laid, I guess it doesn't matter. 🙄
