Joseph Rivera75 said:The question itself is kind of pointless. Because saying something "shows who someone is"...
In reality, it shows nothing.
Theory is one thing; real life is another.
Life isn't black and white, and neither are decisions or people—nobody is just purely good or purely evil.
At the end of the day, one situation doesn't rule out the other.
Plus, there's a massive gap between actually living through something and just talking about it from the sidelines.

A real question would be: which is harder, being left behind or doing the leaving?
Is it tougher when the person you love doesn't love you back, or when you realize you've stopped loving someone you're supposed to?

And even then, there wouldn't be an answer, because both options suck.

Fine, I suppose it is devastating.
But since we are wandering through these topics, there is also the matter of detachment—of finally severing ties with a person.
Or perhaps, whether one will recognize a new direction in life when it arrives, or simply miss it entirely...

Just wanted to clarify—cheating doesn't mean much to me since I wasn't the victim or the cheater. To the person who actually got played, though? It probably means everything.
Being right on paper is one thing, but living it is another story entirely.

Rachel Richardson said:I’ve never been the one left behind; I’ve always been the one walking away.

There is zero logic in loving someone who doesn't return the feeling—it's clear their priorities are completely skewed.🙂😬
That part about falling out of love—that slow fading of affection—is painful, certainly.🕺

There's a massive difference between dumping some girl you've seen for a couple of months versus a wife deciding she's done with you—or vice versa.

Fair enough—but surely you know people who have dealt with this? A little empathy goes a long way, after all.🤷

Honestly, I feel the most empathy for my father-in-law, who fell for someone else.

Before this, I used to think, "What do you mean you fell in love? If your wife wasn't right for you, you chose her yourself."
I mean, everything was set—family was solid, zero drama.
And then, boom, you fall for someone else.
But then it hit me: people change. You shouldn't have to throw your whole life away just because you don't vibe with someone anymore. Life is too short; you gotta make the most of it.
People usually push themselves to the absolute breaking point before they finally call it quits, trying every possible way to fix things first.
By then, the other side usually isn't feeling it anymore, even if they aren't quite ready to walk away yet.
Once it’s over, it’s really over.
Okay, the topic of the day has already drifted toward the initial breakup, so let's move on.
It’s not about cheating or being faithful; if you just don't love someone anymore—even when you feel like you *should*—that's reason enough.
People get hung up on the fact that their partner fell for someone else, thinking there's still hope if that person is technically single.
But look, whether you're single or seeing someone, if the love is gone, it's gone. Period.
The cheating part is irrelevant.
Even if there wasn't a third party involved, that person wouldn't be loving you anyway.
And there's no way to fix things, because the love just isn't there.

If we're talking about that "I cheated because she sat on my lap" excuse... man, then you're just an idiot. Someone with zero self-control—definitely not my type.

Love is a magical, priceless thing...

If I spoke with the tongues of men and of angels,
but had not love,
I would merely be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
Even if I possessed the gift of prophecy,
understanding all mysteries and all knowledge,
and held a faith strong enough to move mountains,
without love—I am nothing.
If I gave away everything I owned,
or even surrendered my body to sacrifice,
yet lacked love, it serves me no purpose at all.
Love is patient; love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs;
it does not delight in injustice, but rejoices with the truth;
it always protects, always trusts,
always hopes, and always perseveres.
Love never fails.
Prophecies? They will cease.
Tongues? They will be stilled.
Knowledge? It will pass away.
For we now see in part, just as we prophesy in part.
But when perfection comes, these partial things will vanish.
When I was a child, I talked like a child,
I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child.
But when I became a man,
I put away childish ways.
For now we see through a glass, darkly,
but then, we shall see face to face!
Now I know in part,
but then I shall know fully,
just as I am fully known.
And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love,
these three,
but the greatest of these is love.

And life without it is simply meaningless, yes.

Total garbage. Life always finds a way to make sense.
Being healthy and having enough cash to cover the basics is honestly a massive win from fate.
Everything else? Just whatever you decide to make of it.

I have to agree; neither would be preferable, though if you're in a marriage that's simply not working, I suppose it's best to just divorce and move on with whoever you choose.

Some things are just better than others, let's be real.🍿

That wasn't even an option presented here, though it makes the most sense.
Why bother playing games?

In my estimation, cheating is merely a symptom of a profound lack of self-love. It is quite simple, really. Those who truly cherish themselves—those who possess genuine self-respect—simply do not engage in such deceitful behavior. Everything is exactly as it ought to be, and I won't hear any arguments to the contrary. Period.

The question is a bit of a mess 😁. Is it better to hurt others or to be the one getting hurt? Honestly, nobody loves anyone more than they love themselves, so I feel like the answer pretty much writes itself...

The whole question basically boils down to "would you rather eat hot or cold crap."

The answer is pretty obvious to me—I'll pass, thanks.
