Nov 3. Topic of the day: How often do you actually hang out?

Do you get out much? Are you someone who hits up big groups, or do you prefer keeping things low-key with just a few people?
Try to put some actual numbers to it—how many people are you realistically seeing on a monthly basis?

Socializing is overrated, if you ask me.

To be perfectly honest, I rarely bother socializing with anyone else; my outings are usually limited to a solitary walk.

It depends, I guess. Ever since I started having Zirk in my daily routine, it’s been happening more often, especially when we’re on vacation—then it's basically every single day. But mostly, I’m just hanging out at the house or out in nature... I much rather hit up a club or a dance floor where I don't have to deal with constant small talk.

I also don't mind having guests or even helpers staying over for weeks at a time. That’s totally fine by me.

The only thing that really matters to me is not feeling pressured to do anything... I need to be able to just shut up and be quiet whenever I feel like it, and if I can do that, life is good.

Aside from family and coworkers, honestly, zero.
Well, yeah. 🤣

It feels like there’s something going on almost every week—though, honestly, it all depends on how the workload looks. Usually, we just keep things low-key with a small group, but occasionally we’ll pull together for a bigger get-together.

I don't really do the whole nightclub thing anymore.
I used to go, but I got bored of it, and honestly, once I stopped going regularly, I realized it’s just way too expensive.

I see people pretty often, though.
Just grabbing coffee during the day, going for a walk, or something like that—that's my usual routine.

Maybe like 10 people, if I'm being honest and trying to remember right now.

Once a month I head out to a gig or a concert if there’s actually something worth seeing. Hanging out with people... maybe once a week on average. Something like that.
And coffee is almost a daily thing. It’s part of my ritual. Just some casual small talk with people I know and strangers alike.

I’m not really much of a social butterfly.
Whether I'm grabbing a coffee with coworkers, shooting over a quick text to a friend, or just posting here on the forum, I usually just end up venting my daily dose of observations—things I’ve noticed, things I've dealt with, or just stuff that left me feeling a bit baffled...
It’s basically a two or three-hour deep dive that happens about once a month.

When I'm hanging out with my absolute best friend—just grabbing coffee or a bite to eat—it’s pretty much an unspoken rule that we make it happen almost every single week... if life doesn't get crazy, which it rarely does, we usually spend about two or three hours just catching up.

Then there's my core group of girlfriends—we meet up at a local bistro every couple of weeks for a few hours or so.

With my coworkers, it's a bit different—every two months or so we'll head out for a post-work lunch, but honestly, we chat every single day during our breaks... we go over everything from the daily news to all our personal drama.

And then, of course, there are those more spontaneous hangouts with various people whenever someone happens to be free and the timing works out.

I don't really hit the concert scene that often—though I would love to start going to the theater more frequently—and late nights out on the town are a very rare exception for me.

I truly do love being around people and socializing, I just don't care much for those massive, overwhelming parties or getting wasted...

Honestly, I feel a bit better knowing I'm not the only one who stays socially distant. 😳
I mean, on a monthly basis, I might have—what, maybe one or two outings? It’s nothing major—just a quick coffee and then I'm out.

I rarely socialize
don't go out at all
don't see a large circle of people
prefer smaller gatherings
excluding work, my partner, and the kids—maybe 4 people a month

I don't really go out or anything... I just have this one friend I catch up with once a month or so, and that's pretty much it

Most of my socializing happens while I'm out trekking through the States; that's when I end up hanging out with whatever group happens to be gathered, sometimes for 10 to 40 hours straight. 😬

With my old crowd, life just kind of pulled us in different directions, so our priorities aren't what they used to be. We still get together a few times a year, though—usually for the kids' birthday parties.

It’s not like I’m lacking social time, really. Honestly, I often have to push aside things I actually enjoy just to make plans work, and as I get older, I guess my own hobbies are becoming more important to me than constant socializing. 🙂

I don't bother socializing because, frankly, the crowd I’m surrounded by isn't worth my time. If I actually cared about having company, I probably would have—but I've officially given up on wasting massive amounts of gas 62 miles just to go out and find people, especially when that same group doesn't even appreciate the effort. They couldn't care less. Let them come to me instead (they won't, though—don't hold your breath, you cheapskates).

It seems everyone here is quite antisocial; I certainly don't go out of my way to socialize much myself.

So what's the takeaway there? You think this proves we're somehow less evolved than Neanderthals? As if we've actually made any progress.🙄

Honestly, I'd much rather be alone than stuck in a room with a bunch of morons sucking up energy resources.

Little kids, plus the fallout from the pandemic...

Performance has been lackluster 😁

But I am slowly turning things around 😁

I try to grab drinks or hang out with a friend about once a week. Usually, it’s just grabbing a beer, going for a walk, a quick road trip, or hitting up a museum or something. Honestly, I don't have the bandwidth for much more than that right now. But I do make an effort to keep the momentum going and get something on the calendar every single week.
