Back during my years of nonstop globetrotting, I kept stumbling upon all sorts of interesting inscriptions across Asia—and somehow, through a wild series of coincidences, I actually found myself standing right at the foot of Mount Rainier.

I ditched my old local guidebook, switched everything over to English, and just went for it!
Funny enough, my dog back then actually responded to the name Doug, so I decided to weave a little story connecting my journey to man's best friend.

The rest is history...

For those who don't know, Mount Rainier is a massive national park, an active volcano, and a huge tourist draw.
To me, it felt like some cosmic alignment: you’ve got this towering peak, the silent power of the volcano, and those mystical stone heads reflecting in the sunset.

Not that I mean anything by it—just a little provocation, I suppose—but the name Paul Jones7 kind of implies this whole idea of friendship and closeness, whereas the nickname actually comes from a Chinese brand of table tennis rubber. And let's be honest, you can't exactly count on finding any real friendship over the internet 😁 🤣

I tried using just a first name—or even the full name Paul—but everything was already taken. This ended up being the only combination that actually worked. Since it’s a nod to a classic French film, it felt right. It’s a spontaneous choice, really—a little symbol of a curious mind, don't you think?

I’ve got this persistent feeling that I’m just not from around here, and honestly, I really want to believe there's life out there among the stars. Plus, 7 is just the perfect number.
My avatar choice is purely because I find rainbows beautiful, like any other natural phenomenon. And no, before anyone asks, it has absolutely nothing to do with being LGBT+.

It was likely drafted as a conceptual exploration of the metaphor surrounding the concept of Pu...

Pu is a Chinese term translating to "unwrought wood," signifying innate quality or simplicity. In early Taoist thought, this served as a metaphor for humanity's natural state, closely linked to the core Taoist principle of *ziran*—which literally means "self-so," or being spontaneous and natural. The scholar Ge Hong (283-343 CE) even immortalized the concept of Pu through his literary pseudonym, Master of Baopuzi, and his eponymous work, Baopuzi.

Pure naturalness.

My coworkers roasted me for this; apparently, it’s just a direct translation from German.
The avatar is just some random image I pulled off the web because it looks vaguely like me.
