"Look, we’re starting a new school year. Honestly, the stats aren't the big deal here. What actually matters is that we aren't touching any of the rights students already have regarding textbooks and supplies.

On a brighter note, we managed to pull some funding from the EU over the last few months to help with classroom aides. We're looking at tripling the number of aides funded by those EU grants. We'll have 925 aides on board this time, which is a record—that covers about 1,049 students.

As for keeping classes running, nothing is changing there. We've already got transportation sorted out for the kids who have to travel to schools outside their immediate area."

I suppose it's fine that we have aides, especially since we don't even have actual school buildings anymore.🎉
Nothing at all, just an empty field. #Kolinda

I couldn't care less about some technicality regarding forty or forty-five minutes; those details are completely irrelevant to the bigger picture.
Furthermore, I want kids to be able to enjoy sports, outdoor activities, and field trips without any restrictions.
Retirement and veteran associations travel whenever they please, yet children haven't been allowed anything for two years now. It's disgusting.

I second that!

The breathing part isn't even an issue for me, but having something stuck to my face for too long? It gets old fast. Yesterday I had one on for three hours and was just counting down the minutes until I could finally breathe free. Again, it’s not about the air, it’s just annoying.

The latest guidance from the government headquarters regarding masks has just been released.

Tapatalk
The government has officially issued a mandate regarding the mandatory use of face masks or medical masks.
To protect the American public from COVID-19, this decision implements necessary epidemiological measures requiring everyone to wear face masks or medical masks.
Face masks or medical masks must be worn correctly, ensuring that both the nose and mouth remain fully covered at all times while wearing them.

Staff at social service facilities providing residential care, along with any visitors allowed to see the residents;
Drivers, all other transit employees, and passengers on public transportation.
Retail employees and customers during their time spent in stores.
Hospitality workers who interact directly with guests or take part in serving and preparing food and beverages.
Guests in indoor dining establishments are permitted only while seated and actively consuming food or beverages.
Employees of retail businesses, public institutions, and various agencies who interact directly with customers, as well as the clients themselves who visit these retail establishments, institutions, and agencies.
Service industry employees who work in close contact with clients;
Office employees working in environments where maintaining a minimum physical distance of six feet is not feasible;
Faithful congregants gathered together during religious ceremonies and indoor worship services.
Spectators attending indoor sporting events;
Everyone attending any kind of social gathering or public event held indoors;
Individuals who are mandated to do so by their employer;
People in outdoor settings where maintaining physical distance simply isn't an option;
Even in other settings or circumstances where it isn't feasible to ensure that only individuals with a digital COVID certificate are allowed entry.
Face masks or medical masks aren't required if you fall under the recommended exemptions posted on the CDC website, or in any situation where it's guaranteed that everyone at a public event or within a specific venue holds an EU digital COVID certificate.

Employers, organizers of social gatherings, public events, and all other types of assemblies are required to enforce mask mandates and ensure that face masks or medical masks are being worn properly.

This Decision does not apply to:

Healthcare institutions are strictly required to follow all professional guidelines and official recommendations.
Working within elementary and high schools, universities, and preschool education centers.
The decision goes into effect on September 1st and will remain in force until September 15th, 2021.

Does this mean that kids aren't covered by this decision, so nobody at schools can cite it to demand masks?

Schools got some instructions from the CDC the other day saying masks should stay just like last year—
students from 5th grade onward, subject teachers, and staff,
if it’s an institution where the spacing between students in classrooms is less than 1.5 m, they have to
wear masks; high schoolers and teachers, if it’s an institution where the spacing in
classrooms is less than roughly 2 m, they have to wear masks.

The date on the guidance is August 26, 2021.

Since this decision is dated August 30, I'm really crossing my fingers that they actually changed their minds, which would be totally awesome!!

We just received a notice from the principal stating that kids between the ages of 5 and 8 are still required to wear masks.

This whole thing needs to be cleared up immediately this week. Reach out to your principals and show them the actual decision. Right now, nobody seems to know who's actually in charge.
Is it the task force, the CDC, the local education departments, or the principals??

I mean, the principals definitely should have been the ones to get this info so they could pass it down to everyone else at the school, but hey, we'll just have to wait and see how things shake out tomorrow.

Are you really such a huge fan of lockdowns and moving everything to online classes?

Is there a specific reason why you’re avoiding looking into this?

It suits you to have everything open because your husband, Chloe Sanchez, plays weddings for a living. It doesn't matter to me. So be it.

The idea of forced vaccinations being implemented elsewhere by other countries appeals to me even less.

I'm just pulling for online stimulus and direct aid, that's all. Besides, I'm not going into the restricted sections of a cafe anyway.

Did you say something I didn't already expect? I know exactly what you're going to say before you say it. 🍿

I think my answer was a bit off... you didn't really clarify how sick those kids actually were. Like, I mean, testing positive and being isolated is one thing, but were they actually *sick* sick?

New infection numbers are climbing, yet cafes are staying open indoors—I’m really hoping we don't end up blaming high schoolers for the next big spike and having them grounded again ☕ While they just let people hang out in bars.
There's some recommendation about not mixing people from different households at the tables 😂 Honestly, this task force and their measures are just getting more and more ridiculous

Corona isn't really a risk for the kids themselves; the danger is for the adults living under the same roof. Usually, we're talking about parents, grandparents, and the rest of the household.

High schoolers could easily switch to online learning; let's face it, they aren't going to follow precautions anyway.

On one hand, I think it’s just plain nonsensical to reopen nightclubs and bars where people crowd together, while on the other, we're forcing kids into remote learning at home.

Even Beroš mentioned that the daily infection count isn't even the key metric anymore; it's the hospitalization numbers that matter.
People really ought to stop obsessing over those daily totals—that data is essentially useless for the general public.

Sure. They basically decided to trigger a massive wave as soon as possible, though predicting what measures come next is a toss-up. Given the tourist season and how long immunity lasts, that big spike should have hit around December, not now at the end of September. Then again, maybe the toll will be lighter—once heating season kicks in, people's nasal passages dry out, weakening that natural defense against respiratory viruses.

Fine, then let them stop testing every single person with a runny nose and we'll see how that goes. 😁

I guess that goes for the flu, chickenpox, and a bunch of other stuff too...
