Steven Brown5 said:Look, bottom line is I'm all for any kind of help, including medication.
For me, staying active through sports is what keeps me sane; I'm not sitting around dreaming of some magic pill that's going to fix my entire life.
Medication can help, and it definitely does—it saves lives, no doubt about it—but without putting in the actual work yourself, it’s basically nothing.
I'm walking a path I've never even stepped on before.
Even the top-tier experts in my case seem to be stumbling over their words; I've got friends who are absolute pros in this field, and yet this situation still leaves me totally breathless and speechless.
Personally, I find more value in the lived experiences of people who have actually "walked the walk" than in what some expert tells me. I've got enough textbook knowledge to last a lifetime on my own.
Reality is brutal, and you just have to find a way to live through it.

There aren't many smooth paths out of this. That's why everyone's approach is different—some people rely on doctors, while others focus on changing their lifestyle or how they think.

Look, I get that you’re trying to be a decent human being here, and honestly, your intentions toward me are noble enough, but I’m just not the type to play the victim card.
Everything I’ve posted on this Forum comes from someone who was already out there living their life long before any tragedy hit.
I know exactly what I need and when I need it.
Right now, I’m looking for actual assistance, not a shoulder to cry on or a bunch of pity.

If you really want to step up and help, why don't you start a thread that actually brings together a crowd of people dealing with the same stuff I am—something meant for the long haul, not just a quick vent session.

I need that kind of engagement because, frankly, I tend to stay productive even when everything feels like it's falling apart.

And what about it? Isn't psychology basically just overpriced philosophy repackaged for the high-end, credit-worthy consumer who's willing to drop $200, $300, or $500 an hour? You want us to switch to spirituality instead? NLP? Or maybe just pivot to some student hangout corner on the fringes of science? Magic and mysticism? Thank God it's all under the corporate umbrella... (yeah, yeah, we're making it rain... come to me...) so whether you're blowing smoke here or there, it's all the same—just more smoke...

Steven Brown5, what kind of "help" are you actually looking for, wanting, or planning to fish for? I'm not offering pity, just asking. Are you really looking for help? Do you actually need it? Whose idea was it, or who convinced you that you did? "Actual help" being... blablabla... a massive group of people with your specific problems, who had the chance and maybe managed to turn it into some sort of system to handle it? Seriously? A huge crowd of people with your exact issues? Nobody has them. No one could have your exact issues, because the slightest shift in variables guarantees a different problem or a different solution entirely. And are you really "productive" specifically when you're "wrecked"? Just circling back to wrap this up and stop the endless annoyance of this hellscape... just asking...

Do you seriously think that after everything I've been through, your little outbursts are going to rattle me?
Do you have any idea what kind of things I've looked in the eye?

Buddy, .........
Just chill out.

I’m glad my directness isn't going to rattle you; that’s not my intention. I just want anyone reading this to see that while you might view this as therapy, you aren't really using your head—honestly, you aren't.
It's never my goal to tear anyone down, and frankly, seeing how much strength you have just confirms my decision.

Steven Brown5 said:I’ve been hit pretty hard by some personal tragedy lately.
A friend of mine got the impression that I only feel truly alive when I’m playing the protector role, but honestly, that isn’t the whole truth—not even close.
For me, getting deeply involved in things I actually care about is how I find my footing.
I’ve realized you just can’t rush the way life unfolds. You can't skip steps, whether we're talking about personal growth or the messy process of grieving. Those things have their own rhythm, and when we're dealing with heavy trauma or sudden loss, we just have to navigate through it the best way we know how.

In my book, it’s a hell of a lot more productive to pour that energy into a cause you believe in rather than trying to drown your pain in substances.
What’s your take on all this?

There are moments where you just can't escape your circumstances or force yourself to be the version of you that everyone else expects, mostly because you simply cannot fast-track the healing process.

Looking back, what kind of actions do you see as being genuinely productive versus just straight-up destructive, and when does that line blur for you?
I really think that something one person finds incredibly fulfilling could easily be a total waste of time or even a wrong turn for someone else.

Do you stick to what you know is productive, even when the people around you are telling you it’s bad for you?

It’s a shame, really. I was actually hoping there were more of us out there... maybe we could even start a club or something. 🕺

I can talk to you later about how I used the internet during my darkest times and the "wisdom" I picked up back then; it's no issue..
I can tell you that if a trauma is truly severe enough, you aren't the same person who existed before the tragedy. That person is gone. You were Person A, then Event B happened, and now you are Person C. Now, you're just stuck trying to adapt to that. It isn't anything bigger than life itself, though it might be something only those with the exact same trauma can grasp.
You aren't the first or the last person to overcomplicate your own problems to an insane degree just to avoid actually helping yourself.
Go see a therapist. Pay the fee; it isn't that expensive. After eighteen months of struggling, a friend dragged me to one, and I felt like a new person within a month.

Isn't it practically a moral obligation for any true lover of humanity to notice that these "non-profit advocacy clubs, or whatever similar nonsense" have been popping up way too often lately? 🕺

You totally missed the point here.
Professional psychological help is great for everyone, no argument there.
But the whole idea isn't about getting "advice" from random people on the internet; it's about hearing someone else's raw, unfiltered experience. It's about realizing we're going through the same thing.
A month and a half? Man, you're being incredibly optimistic.
A woman I know who's been through this told me things start feeling manageable after three years, and maybe after five, you actually start feeling like yourself again.

I’m not out here playing savior (because, objectively speaking, I haven't saved a single soul), I’m just sharing my worldview!
Helping someone else doesn't hurt me, so where's the actual issue here?
What exactly am I being "irresponsible" about?

The thing is, we don't even know what we're actually talking about here.
Are we talking about you, or someone else? What's the actual issue you're dealing with?
Pushing a topic like this without any context... yeah, that's a hard pass for me.

"A woman who has experience..." 😵
This is exactly how Steven Brown5 ends up turning anti-vax. You're looking for easy fixes and instant answers, but they don't exist. What works perfectly for Anne might be a total disaster for Joanna, even if they're facing the exact same issue.
Look, you're sharp and intellectually capable enough that I'm certain you'd recover much faster if you just accepted the help.
Don't be reckless...

Look, the woman is clearly hiding behind her trauma. She’s acting like she’s there to play therapist on a couch, but she fails miserably because everything she says is filtered through her own past. It’s honestly hard to watch.
Between the lines, she’s screaming for help, but she refuses to consciously admit that something is wrong—she won't accept that a little bit of sympathy isn't going to save anyone.

Honestly, I think this might be my last time posting here. It seems like nobody is even looking at the actual substance of what's being discussed, and look, I don't mind if the conversation drifts or goes off on a tangent based on how we talk to each other, but once people who have zero credentials start trying to psychoanalyze me, I see absolutely no point in continuing this dialogue.

First off, you have no clue who you're talking to, you don't know anything about my professional background, and you definitely don't have the context needed to pass any kind of judgment.

As for me, everything is pretty much as expected. I'm disappointed, plain and simple. Anyone who’s actually read this thread or my last couple of posts on the Forum can see that.
"Hiding behind trauma" ???
Did I ever explicitly state in my post how I experienced tragedy or trauma?!?!
Just because I’ve dealt with trauma doesn't mean I'm somehow beneath you in a conversation.
I can read between your lines too, but my interpretation of what you're "really" saying is irrelevant here.
I really don't get why you're even typing this, other than your desperate need to frame me as some "victim" that you can swoop in and rescue with your little insights.
The reason you're lashing out at me is pretty obvious—it's a total clash of worldviews.
With me, it's simple: either we communicate like normal adults, or you just leave me alone.
Let me be crystal clear: I am setting a boundary right here, so respect it.
I'll be following my own advice.

So now we've arrived at "worldviews"?
You haven't the slightest clue what my worldview is; I haven't even expressed it here once, let alone twice. Feel free to stay angry at me if you want, it's no problem, but sometimes it's actually useful for a debate to head in an unexpected direction. Perhaps that's the very direction we need to take.
Go ahead and try to psychoanalyze me if you like; maybe I'll finally discover my own worldview through your analysis, since I previously assumed I was outside this narrow echo chamber and that I knew people as individuals rather than by their specific affiliations.

Maybe... but if we actually want to get things done, we need some level of organization... if nothing else, just so we have a way to track our own progress. 😁

We aren't doing her any favors by beating her over the head trying to force her to admit she's struggling. For some people, the whole process of breaking things down can take months, even years...
The real issue for me is that there’s no foundation here—we don't even know what we're actually debating...

Yeah, true. Some nonprofit set up to act like a fight club, getting handed all the oversight on those quasi-governmental funds... all while working hand-in-hand with another nonprofit (honestly, that term just sounds like a scam to me) that specializes in "alerting mechanisms" and legal enforcement procedures. Measuring actual productivity? Yeah, not likely...

Should you push through, or just let yourself get discouraged? It’s a question of mindset. Is it even worth being productive when you hit a wall? Like, you try to force things—maybe out of sheer will, or duty, or whatever... but then you stumble into new territory. Suddenly, you realize there’s this massive, multi-cellular organism already living there. It feeds on the space, claims it as its own, and only shares if it absolutely has to. You're basically stuck trying to figure out the routine—how it moves, what it eats, how it functions. Just poking at the system to see how it breathes. Trying to understand the mechanics of it all, whether by choice, necessity, or maybe just as an experiment in coexistence with something that's incredibly possessive...

Even though this place is just a virtual space, it still feels like some kind of asylum or hospital ward. It’s weirdly packed with hypochondriacs. Everyone here is basically a self-proclaimed expert on every disease, symptom, and drug interaction under the sun. They've all had way too much "experience" dealing with health issues to become such pros at it... honestly, they've put more energy into studying symptoms than actually living their lives. And since nobody lives just for themselves anymore—it's all about being part of a community—they feel the need to dump all that useless knowledge on anyone else within earshot...

It doesn't matter which way this thing veers or if it goes totally off the rails—it’s just a massive, multi-cellular organism swimming through the murky data streams of some digital river. As long as the author, the moderator, or even just the people hanging around are actually willing to listen, we're good. This thread needs to be a place where the collective energy and experience—the actual wisdom—can just be dumped out. Otherwise... resistance is fu... unproductive. One rookie researcher tried to start something new here once, but all that was left was the skeleton of an idea. Just like so many before it, the system ate it alive...
