James Reyes said:It’s posted on the official websites for every single municipality. I assume the mayors met up with someone from the Police Department, Civil Defense, and Central Command...
It makes sense, really. It's easy enough to shut down the Riviera (we have plenty of backroads to use) and they all fall under the same Police Department anyway. Plus, Beach City is basically the hub for everything; most of the other towns don't even have a bank.

Nothing is posted on our local sites.
Look, I live in the middle of nowhere. Literally.
We also fall under one police department, and no, it isn't located in my municipality.
It used to be just one municipality, but now it feels like they've split us into five different ones.
And the specific answer I got from my own local government was exactly what I wrote above. No exceptions.
There's no bank in our town either. Not even an ATM.

I sent an inquiry to stozercz@mup.hr
And all I got was this automated reply:

Civil Defense Headquarters

Dear Citizen,

We advise you to regularly monitor the official website of the Directorate of Civil Defense,

,

as well as the regular press conferences held by the CZRH Command Center every day at 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

Additionally, please review the latest briefing from the Civil Defense Headquarters of the Republic of America for all necessary information regarding the new coronavirus.

Respectfully,

Civil Defense Headquarters of the Republic of America

Which doesn't actually answer a single thing I asked.

So, I just sent off another email to the Town Hall Civil Defense—the same one that used to feel like home to all of us.
I also included links to those cases I mentioned earlier, where certain County Emergency Management teams are basically merging different municipalities into one giant blob.

This time, I made sure to mention that—while I’m definitely hoping for a reply—it won't really matter if they choose to ignore me. They'll certainly get my "response" at the ballot box during the next election, though.

I mean, it’s probably the National Command Center calling the shots on this stuff, but hey, there's no harm in reaching out. Maybe if enough people start barking, they'll actually do something. 🙂

Maybe check with County Emergency Management?🤔

Because I can see that from your post, too:

Yesterday, the County Emergency Management recommended that the National Command Center merge San Diego, San Jose, and Santa Clarita into one single zone where people wouldn't need a permit to move around.

I reached out to the headquarters in this municipality—the one we all used to call home—and they got back to me pretty quickly. But honestly? They didn't offer a single concrete solution. It was just that classic runaround: "You really need to take this up with our local Town Hall."

rustywalker42 said:Exactly what was said above. It's the reality in the Midwest, where you've got villages of 1,000 people calling themselves municipalities. That was based on the 2011 census, obviously; nowadays, those same places have fewer than 500 people left.

But hey, it's important that they're municipalities, right?

Just revert everything back to how it was before the war and call it a day.

Just look at what US Congress is pulling on us. This is a disaster.

That's the thing—it made way more sense back then. Now you can see that the whole reason for breaking everything up was really just to create "job opportunities," or rather, to facilitate trade between different parties.

Screw the City of Loves and the Municipality of Loves.

Yeah, I thought you meant the County, my bad—totally misunderstood what you were saying there, sorry about that. Honestly, I don't think there's anything coming out of Town Hall.

I've been staying at my parents' place in another county since the weekend. I'm not in self-isolation, but I guess you have to wonder—can I head back to my own place in a different county without a pass?

Right. I'm hunting for an email address for the County Emergency Management—but all they have listed is the one for issuing permits.
In the meantime, I've sent an email over to the local news outlets.

I’m just sitting here listening to the News (CNN) and some guy from the Government says "people need to get used to these measures because they won't be around for just a few weeks—they'll be here for much, much longer".

I dug up the email address for the County Civil Defense Headquarters and sent them a quick question about whether they could find a solution similar to what some other Counties have already implemented.

I’m actually really curious to see how they respond.

Luckily, elections aren't that far off—so (unlike these restrictions) they won't actually be around for a "long, long time."

I’m not even going to touch the actual rules—I'll just stick to the absurd stuff.
Did I mention that from my window, I can literally see the sign for the very City I need a permit to enter, yet somehow I still can't get one?

Do I even need to say more?

This whole situation just goes to show how unnecessary these massive municipalities and cities really are. It’s pretty obvious that all those job openings—mayors, deputy mayors, department heads, and so on—are nothing more than blatant political cronyism. It’s completely ineffective when you actually need a real response to a crisis, rather than just a way to pad out their circles with loyalists before an election.
It might be one thing in Washington, D.C., or other major metropolitan areas, but for those of us living in smaller towns, we’re basically left high and dry.

Everyone who usually travels from one city to another will still be doing it; the only difference now is that we're all going to end up stabbing each other in the back over these permits. I mean, look, if this is just some scheme to create more bureaucratic bloat and get people cushy jobs in the local Municipalities and cities, then fine, go for it.

Just as a precaution, I’d like to suggest that the Government implement a new measure: a stay-at-home order restricted specifically to one's own street. Wouldn't that significantly aid our efforts in the fight against the coronavirus?

silentpanther10 said:Hey everyone. Here’s my take on how this is going.

So, last week I headed over to my mom's place. She lives in a different county—El Paso-Srijem County—so I actually made the trip before the whole Stay-at-home order officially kicked in.

On Monday, I shot an email over to the City Civil Defense Headquarters in my home base (Indianapolis) to explain my situation. I was basically asking what I should do and if there was any way to get a pass that lasts longer than just a day. They got back to me within a few hours, saying they thought I should probably register a temporary residence with the El Paso Police Department since that's where I am now. Apparently, that would help avoid any headaches. They also mentioned that passes for vital family reasons are meant for daily trips, not for moving out indefinitely (even though, I mean, I'm not moving forever, but whatever...).

The next day, I gave the Osijek Police a call. They told me they didn't see any issue with me being away from my permanent address right now, as long as I follow the Headquarters' guidelines about avoiding social contact and all that stuff. They suggested I call 112 for more specific instructions.

I called 112, and the guy on the line confirmed it wasn't a big deal if I'm caught away from my registered address, provided I'm at my mom's and following the Civil Defense orders. 😁 He even asked if I was under any specific self-isolation mandate, and since I wasn't, he repeated that it shouldn't be a problem. He said the whole measure was mostly because of the massive wave of Chicago residents heading down toward the coast and the islands. Also, he mentioned I don't need a special pass to head back to my own place if I decide to leave early. The only thing that might be slightly sketchy is driving my own car since it has plates from a different county, making me kind of "noticeable," but I guess I'll figure that out some other way 😁 and as far as the county I'm in right now (El Paso-Srijem County), from what I gathered, you might need a pass to travel between the city and the smaller municipalities.

Oh, and he did mention that if I really want to clear my conscience, I could give the El Paso City Civil Defense Headquarters a quick ring just so they have an idea of how many people are currently in town without living here, just in case there's a major health emergency. He gave me a number, and honestly, the guy was super nice—same goes for the lady at the Osijek Police. I haven't called the El Paso Civil Defense yet, but I'll probably do it tomorrow.

Neither of them mentioned anything about needing to formally register my stay, and judging by what I'm reading from others on this thread, it doesn't even seem possible right now anyway.

And then it didn't occur to anyone to just apply that rule to Washington, D.C. specifically.🤔
Or even just the major cities?🤔
Just tell them they can't leave the city limits.

Inside the city, people can move around just fine. They have everything they need right there. They can hit the grocery store, they can get whatever else they need within the city bounds—which is only a few dozen square miles...

Meanwhile, those of us in rural areas are stuck with one specific store 3.7 miles near our address—and we aren't allowed to go to the closer one just because it happens to be in a different Municipality.

Also, I think if they aren't going to scrap public transit in Washington, D.C. altogether, they might as well just cut every single route except for one.

Just let one bus run to pick people up.

👍

That is precisely where the issue lies. This measure has made life incredibly, incredibly complicated for everyone living out in the rural areas.
They really need to just shut down the cities, the islands, and the entire counties. They need to find some actual logical checkpoints because right now, this is an absolute disaster.

Exactly.

It’s an incredibly unfair move.
