There honestly isn't any legal basis requiring you to hand over your Social Security number to some random individual who doesn't have any official authority over you. In my view, this whole thing is nothing more than pure laziness on the part of these public health bureaucrats.

Honestly, if they haven't sent you an official notice or a signed order, they can't really penalize you. I mean, sure, they might *try*, but you could totally file a complaint, and I'm pretty sure a judge would side with you. So, personally, I wouldn't stress too much about it—I'd just stick to my plans and move on with my life.
As for handing out your Social Security number, I’m not so sure that’s the smartest move. Most government agencies can pull up your info themselves if they really need to. And look, if the contact is just a friend or someone close to you, you can easily ask them not to list you as a contact. That’s just what I would do, anyway—but hey, everyone has to make their own call based on what feels right to them.

I spent three days asking, and it didn't work.

My only real concern is getting hit with a "delayed" quarantine. Like, they tack on extra days because they were slow to implement the rules.

As for the ethics, I don't care. A mask is enough protection when you're just heading out to vote. Scumbags.

You aren't going to get an extended quarantine, seeing as your two-week window from that last contact has already been ticking away, right? The only thing that could happen is you end up with a shortened one if they notify you late—basically after your isolation period should have already ended. Whether there's any actual logic behind that is another question entirely.

Alright then, just one more week and it's over. Hopefully, I can hang in there.

If a friend did that to me, I’d probably just unfriend them right then and there.
But seriously, if I were in your shoes, I wouldn't give it another thought. If nobody is reaching out to tell you anything, then you're good to go. Just keep living your life and don't let it get to you—it's better for your own sanity!

None of that matters if you’re being harassed just for trimming the grass on the public strip in front of your house. 🙂

But try spreading fertilizer on your own damn lawn—now that’s where they really step in.

And that’s exactly why I’m worried!

But if I’m reading this right, I’m actually allowed to take my dog for a walk? Their logic is truly 🤣

No, honestly, nothing is hanging over your head until you actually get an official notice or a formal order saying you need to quarantine. I mean, if you haven't received anything, you shouldn't even consider yourself in isolation. Did you get a formal decision? Did someone from the CDC or local health department call you? Even if you go out and the police pull you over for a check, you can just tell them you weren't notified and had no idea you were supposed to stay put. If they try to fine you, just file an appeal or talk to them.
Okay, so, self-isolation—but only if there's an official directive from the health authorities stating the exact start and end dates. Without that, there’s no obligation to isolate. And without an official document, there isn't even a legal basis to hand out any fines.

Nothing.

The media acts like it’s the end of the world, while the people in charge couldn't care less. That's the real issue. 😁
To hell with politics. And to hell with the money tied to it.

So, yeah... basically nothing. You're on your own.
If they don't care about what affects you, then who will?

It seems like they aren't calling everyone out lately because there are just way too many cases.

The only way anyone knows is if your primary care physician notes "quarantine" right next to your name in the medical records, so it pops up whenever someone pulls up your file in the system.

As for who actually hands over those lists to the police—whether it's the local clinic or public health officials—honestly, I have no clue.

But how are you supposed to know that if you don't see a doctor during those two weeks?

On the very first day of quarantine, you’re supposed to check in with your doctor—it’s their job to log it. If they didn't record it for whatever reason, then that's on them! It's their mistake, plain and simple.

As for the police, I honestly haven't a clue.

But who actually notifies you? You mentioned earlier that they don't call everyone.

Nobody’s going to give you a heads-up. Once you report it to the doctor, you should just assume the isolation period has officially started. That's how it works—they log it in the system, and then the public health department issues the formal order.

The only way you're going to get any real confirmation is if you go asking someone at the hospital, a pharmacist, or someone else who actually has access to the medical records database.

I mean, why would anyone even bother seeing a doctor unless they were actually feeling under the weather?

It was a total circus at my office today. Management basically decided on their own whim who gets sent home to isolate and who stays.

And honestly, what even happens if you don't show up? Are there actual penalties or something? I have no clue.

There really isn't any legal ground for those kinds of sanctions... I mean, there’s just no actual law saying someone has to report themselves to a doctor simply because they heard they were near someone infected. Especially if they only found out through unofficial channels—kind of like what happened with crimsonranger3.
