I guess the point is trying to get more people vaccinated, which is really about looking out for public health. It’s kind of hard when people don't know—and it's not even their fault—what the best move is. I'm not talking about that 1% who clearly know what they're doing and are choosing to opt out. I mean the other 99% who actually want to get vaccinated but have been totally messed with by fear-mongering propaganda. Those people should be allowed to get their shots since that's what they want. In a free country like the US, people should probably have that choice, but it feels like the other side has really messed that up so far.

The whole certification thing seems like nothing more than a way to drive up vaccine numbers just to pad the pockets of Big Pharma. It feels like they’re dodging any actual accountability if we end up seeing proven side effects down the road. You get all that profit without any of the liability—it's just pure wealth accumulation or perhaps funding some massive government initiative like NASA. Honestly, shouldn't self-isolation be an option for those who choose not to vaccinate for at least a few more years? This entire situation just proves that the COVID mandates and the lack of isolation options for the unvaccinated are nothing but a smokescreen. And let's be real: we are never going to see 100% vaccination rates, you can count on that. Especially not in these "liberal" states.

The only places I could ever consider getting vaccinated would be in Scandinavia or maybe the United Kingdom. There, you actually feel like the system is designed to function properly, and you don't deal with nearly as much systemic corruption as we do here in the States.

But how are we supposed to ignore the reality that most people don't even need this vaccine, given that the statistics clearly show their health isn't at risk from the virus?

Furthermore, does this mean we just suspend an individual's right to bodily autonomy whenever the government decides they've been manipulated into making a "wrong" choice? If we set such a precedent, what happens when a different administration takes power and decides that women seeking abortions are merely victims of modern decadence? Will their right to control their own bodies be stripped away too, even though, much like vaccination, the consequences of these decisions fall primarily on the individuals themselves while the broader impact remains marginal?

If you ask me, there's a main reason for these mandates, and I think the governments implementing them are actually doing the right thing. Maybe they're just dragging their feet because they're scared. I don't think rights will be suspended, and everything will probably stay voluntary, but I guess some kind of pressure needs to exist for the sake of the whole country—and for those people themselves, too.

Fine, but how exactly can you claim the government is in the right here, especially when the health data clearly shows we've already identified the specific high-risk groups, meaning most people don't actually need any kind of protection from the virus?

Hmm... well, if you actually sit back and consider the fundamental mechanics of how a contagion spreads through a population, everything starts to make sense... which is precisely why those isolation measures were put in place in the first place...

The data suggests that vaccines primarily serve as protection for the individual receiving them, and they provide quite effective protection at that, yet any impact on preventing transmission seems to be marginal at best, so why should we rely on it for anything significant? My question remains the same.

Well, you basically answered your own question right there... if you just take a second to look over what you actually wrote...
I mean, obviously, a vaccine has a multi-layered impact... we have to look at the population as a whole... which really just means looking at a massive number of vaccinated individuals acting independently...

Could you explain to me, in plain English, how my vaccination status affects your personal health? Tell me—do you personally go out of your way to get a flu shot every single year just to look out for your fellow Americans?

Why do we even have these isolation rules? And should those who are vaccinated be forced into quarantine too? You have to consider that being vaccinated significantly lowers your risk of side effects—or at least makes them much more manageable—and by doing so, you're actually reducing your likelihood of passing anything on to others.

I think you might have skimmed over my actual post... if you take a second to actually think about how transmission works, you'll see that these measures still need to be on the books... and honestly, if you're looking for answers on a random forum, you're looking in the wrong place since everything is being broadcasted clearly in the public sphere... just listen to Kajić...

A colleague of mine went in for testing this past Friday, and by 4:00 PM that same day, he got an email saying the results were positive.
Is it normal that nobody has reached out to him since then to follow up on potential exposures or anything else? Is it just because it’s the weekend, or is this standard procedure?

Not sure how things work now, but back during the fourth wave, nobody called us. My mother-in-law tested positive, so we just self-isolated on our own and notified the family doctor, the pediatrician, and the school/daycare.
They probably can't get to everyone when the numbers are this high.

People who have already recovered from COVID-19 and finished their initial vaccination series are now exempt from quarantine after being exposed to an infected individual, regardless of how much time has passed (though if symptoms pop up within 14 days of that last contact, they’ll still be treated as suspected cases).

https://www.cdc.gov/pdf/example-document-ENE-ver-12.pdf

The time limit on isolation protection has been scrapped.

I got my own positive PCR result yesterday. By today, they were already calling me to trace my contacts. It’s strange how some people get a follow-up call while others are left hanging.
Does anyone know what "confidence interval" refers to on a PCR test? It shows negative underneath, but under "Result," it says positive.

When does the isolation clock actually start for positive cases? Is it from when you first feel crappy or once you actually get a test result back? I started feeling symptoms on Thursday, but my appointment isn't for another two days... And how long am I supposed to be stuck in isolation anyway?

Look, if you’re actually feeling under the weather and showing symptoms, you have to consider the day those symptoms first hit as your "day zero." From there, the clock starts ticking, meaning the very next day marks the beginning of your isolation period, and you’d finally be cleared to step back out into the world on day eleven.

Now, if you aren't feeling any symptoms at all, the math changes slightly—in that scenario, your "day zero" is simply the day you take the test.

Based on how things shake out for your specific situation, you should be looking at November 8th as the day you can wrap up your isolation.

It’s crystal clear now, and honestly? I couldn't agree more.

Heading to a funeral tomorrow for someone who followed all the rules, got every single shot, and still ended up dying on a ventilator.
Everyone needs to quarantine. I don't care if you have a COVID-19 passport or if you haven't even left your house—it shouldn't matter. We all need to follow these rules:

Quincy:
Wait, what happened to BrokenEmpire? They just vanished. One minute they’re making points, the next—nothing. Just gone. Seriously, does anyone actually know where they went? It feels like half the interesting voices around here just drop off without a word. Typical. kaže:
I can't even begin to process this link. It’s just a dead end. Honestly, why do people even bother posting broken links like this? It’s a complete waste of everyone's time. If you want to actually discuss something, try finding a working URL first. This isn't a game.

The self-isolation restrictions are officially gone. Finally.
There’s honestly no difference.

So, one colleague goes to an international conference for just a single day. Then, two days later, she hits up a coworker to say she tested positive. She didn't even bother testing beforehand because she’d been vaccinated—she only decided to take a test because people back home were bugging her about it, since she’d had a runny nose for two days straight. Just pure carelessness. 😬.

With our WHO certificates, we don't even have to deal with mandatory isolation. We just test ourselves like I mentioned earlier, or wait until symptoms actually pop up.

I did my own test 48 hours after exposure, and I’m going to do it again in another 48, and then again after that. In the meantime, I’ve been keeping my distance from everyone and told them straight up that I was a close contact of someone who tested positive.

Most people cling to that document above like their lives depend on it. 🤦

Look, personally? I don't think anyone should be forced into isolation. Doesn't matter if you're vaccinated, unvaccinated, already had it, or haven't—it shouldn't matter. You shouldn't have to quarantine until you actually start showing symptoms, or maybe after five or seven days, and then check back in after ten. Period.

Life would be a hell of a lot easier for everyone if we just admitted the truth: there is zero actual difference between us. It’s all just some social nonsense forced on us through endless certifications and labels.

Look, we’ve known how to protect ourselves from respiratory bugs forever. If everyone actually played by the rules during flu season or when COVID-19 is circling around, these measures actually work. But let's be real—they aren't some magic shield. It's not like it works perfectly for everyone; some people dodge it entirely while others get hit regardless. That's just how it goes.

Hey there,
So, Mozart and I both took rapid tests last night, and he came back positive while mine was negative.
Just for some context, I got my second vaccine dose back on November 3rd.
He already sent an email over to our doctor to figure out what the next steps should be.
Since I've been in close contact with someone who tested positive, what does that actually mean for me? Am I supposed to head into quarantine or just self-isolate at home?
Thanks for any help you can give.

According to the current guidelines, once you've received that second dose, you’re officially cleared from self-isolation—provided, of course, that you aren't actually feeling under the weather with any symptoms.
