Hi there. I’ve been dealing with a nightmare involving my ex, who has done some truly disgusting things to me. It started with him calling me constantly and hurling insults, which led to my first report for harassment. But he wouldn't stop; then he escalated to death threats, so I reported those too, and he ended up giving a statement to the police. He still didn't get the hint, though—he started creating fake Facebook profiles, posing as me or pretending to be another woman just to send my private photos to people. It was humiliating, being publicly shamed and called names... Most recently, it turned into extortion. Now I'm wondering, how much prison time is he actually looking at for all this?

No jail time for this one—they’re actually just handing out a cash prize instead.

Just look at how our justice system handled that predator from Darrington... you can decide for yourself what your next move should be ☕, though since there wasn't any physical violence in your situation, there's zero chance anyone's actually going to lift a finger... just like what happened in that previous case too...

It seems there won't be any meaningful intervention until people actually start dying.

I mean, all the federal agencies are claiming he’ll definitely be convicted, but being tried in a place like Savannah isn't the same as being in D.C... the courts in D.C. tend to be much tougher.

Yeah, sure, there's always an "intervention" from the paramedics when things go south.

Look, if every single government agency is telling you this, then why are you even bothering to ask us random people on the internet? Why don't you just go talk to a lawyer first, because they'd actually give you a real breakdown of the situation and tell you what can actually be done...
I mean, look at El Paso—filing reports there hasn't moved the needle for the authorities one bit, and now they've got three kids slaughtered and a mother stuck in the hospital... in two days, nobody will even be talking about it anymore.
Personally, I have zero faith in our legal system...

Plus, if it ends up being probation, technically he still gets "convicted," so the label sticks either way.

I was thinking they might get around two years, maybe even more... if you ask anyone, they'll tell you it's impossible to know for sure. It all really depends on how they carry themselves in court.

You totally forgot to mention when you were copying stuff from those old threads that the guy isn't even in America.

No, he isn't out in New York... he's actually been held in pretrial detention for all those things he did.

Georgette500 said:I mean, I guess the trial should probably wrap things up pretty quickly—it really ought to—but honestly? I’m just kind of relieved that he’ll be escorted into the courtroom by the sheriff's deputies. It’s going to be a total embarrassment for him, which, if we're being real, is about all he deserves.

So, the cops tracked him down right in the middle of downtown yesterday—exactly at noon, no less—and served him those pretrial detention papers. They slapped the cuffs on him, tossed him into a van, and hauled him straight off to jail. Honestly? I think it really stung him, being humiliated like that in public, but honestly... he had it coming. I’m actually kind of glad. And you know what? It’ll feel even better when he finally gets hit with five years for everything he pulled.

How can you say he isn't—I mean, the guy already got busted, right? Who knows... maybe they’ve already shipped him off to Siberia or something.

We need to know exactly what the defendant is being charged with in this specific case. Is it just one crime or several? Has there already been a conviction for any violent offenses against you—and yeah, that includes things like threats? Without those details, I can't give you a straight answer. In Washington, D.C., you should be able to expect that they'll look out for your interests as the victim, assuming your theory holds up.
