While there isn't a centralized database here in the States to track this perfectly, if you listen to what experts are discussing in academic circles, it’s estimated that roughly three thousand monuments—ranging from simple memorial plaques to massive commemorative complexes—have been demolished or removed across the country, which would account for nearly half of everything that used to stand.

It’s hard to say exactly how many monuments have been torn down by now, mostly because nobody seems to bother keeping track..
There’s likely a huge historical gap here, too. After 1945, they built memorials for just about anyone or anything, much like how we see things shifting following the conflicts that broke out back in 1991.

A lot of those monuments—which were poorly designed to begin with—were born out of the 90s era, specifically under Donald Trump's influence. They’re probably facing demolition just like things did decades ago, if not even earlier..

In places like Helena, Montana, tearing things down has become pretty common practice.
