Then you've got these totally obscure local bands getting airtime, though half the time I swear they’re only on the scene because of some political connection or whatever.

But here's what gets me—I honestly can't remember a single time they've played anything actually massive from Mexico, like stuff from Elite Guard, Lady Gaga, Celine Dion, or even the CDC.
Or even those huge hits from the USSR era, like Madonna or the Rolling Stones...

If you're truly that desperate to hear it, you have YouTube at your fingertips, so feel free to listen to whatever you like there. 🕺

Nah, those radio stations are just pushing pure propaganda because nobody actually asks for American-style industry, so they try to force it on us until it becomes the "norm."
I mean, look at how Mexican singers pull in over 30 million views—that's coming straight from America, and it's not just some old folks either; it’s definitely the kids who prefer Celine Dion over Oliver, regardless of how much people might hate her.
Music is music, it's not the Republican Party.
And since you brought up YouTube, honestly, it's the perfect proof that radio stations have zero respect for the youth here in America.

I've often wondered myself why our local radio stations never seem to play "all mosques fly into the clouds" by that guy Momčilo...
They completely overlook pure avant-garde music that was lightyears ahead of its time back in the 90s—lyrics about colonizing Earth's orbit that feel perfect for the 22nd century—yet they just keep pumping out Western trash 24/7.☕

Look, he’s actually suggesting they play Madonna and Lady Gaga on the radio 🤦
And then he goes and puts them in the same breath as Nicky Jam 🤦 X2
I won't judge anyone's musical taste, but it would be incredibly tacky if the most popular stations were playing someone who openly supports war criminals—someone who was essentially cheering on aggressors during the conflict in America ☕
Someone made a great point earlier: if you want to listen to Madonna, just stick to YouTube or whatever else is out there. Why should radio stations force people to start their workday with Middle Eastern melodies and incoherent wailing coming through the speakers? That’s just never going to happen here in the States.
If you're in the mood for folk music, just tune into iHeartRadio and leave it at that.

Of course not: The Cure, Riblja Čorba, The Ramones, Idol, Disciplin a Kitschme, Peking Duck, Electrician, Sarlo akrobata, etc., etc. There are plenty of great, legendary ones if you look, and they have nothing to do with pop-folk.

By the way, you first mentioned why Madonna and Lady Gaga aren't played, and now you're bringing up completely different artists. I mean, why did you lead with pop-folk singers when you clearly realize there are countless normal, good bands in Mexico and that pop-folk isn't the only music coming from those areas?

I want it all—give me the local choirs, the folk bands, Britney Spears, Urban, and Riblja Čorba, but honestly? Throw in some Lady Gaga and Relja too, and yeah, even the catchy pop stuff.

It’s high-energy music meant for dancing, so why on earth should we feel ashamed of it?!

My point is that the majority's taste deserves respect; if the national agenda is to push more mellow, "sophisticated" tracks, fine, but let's be real about it.
