Hey everyone, I’m thinking about switching banks. I’ve got my eye on JPMorgan Chase
Has anyone here actually used them? I'm curious what their online banking is like, what the monthly fees look like, account maintenance costs, and all that good stuff...
Thanks

Their online banking is pretty decent... I used to be with them personally, though my business accounts stayed put. Fees seem to be pretty much in line with what everyone else is charging right now.

Hey, does anyone have any recent experiences dealing with cash loans at this bank?

I've got some from September. What specifically are you looking for?

I was wondering if anyone ran into issues while applying for a loan, like how long the wait actually was for approval and the funds to hit the account, and if the bank is generally reliable? I read some pretty bad experiences earlier in this thread which has me feeling a bit anxious, even though my interactions at the branch were relatively fine, I guess.

It was fast—maybe two days—but I went through a broker. They didn't screw me over on anything; they're actually decent enough. They gave me my debit card and my master. Their only real flaw is that they don't have mobile banking yet, though apparently, that's coming soon.

Edit: Honestly, they’re a fine bank if you’re a fine client. :-)

I mean, my main concern is just making sure there aren't any hidden nonsense clauses popping up once I actually make the switch to the bank. I've always been pretty reliable with my payments, so that’s really not an issue for me, I guess.

Just got a letter at home letting me know my bank approved an installment plan via my Mozart card, which includes some cash advances too.

On the flip side, their online banking fees are pretty steep—looks like somewhere between 2% and 20% based on what I saw on their website.

Plus, they have this incredibly stupid daily ATM withdrawal limit for Mozart cards of just $667 if your salary is under $2000 (assuming you even bank with them).

Wait, is that really the daily limit for ATM withdrawals? Like, that's all you can get?
I mean, I guess my loan terms are actually pretty decent, though I'll probably have to move my direct deposit over to them eventually... I might just keep my Chase account active for now, though, just so I can still use my Visa.

Exactly. I’m not sure if there’s any room to negotiate a raise or if that’s just the ceiling, but here’s my move: I’ll pull that $2,000 and then just wire the rest via online banking to my other account at Wells Fargo—mostly just so I can take advantage of the contactless master card features.

So, are they actually any good? We're looking at a small personal loan, but we aren't planning on moving our whole paycheck over there—our employer basically expects us to use a different bank anyway.

Look, they’re fine, provided you don't actually plan on using mobile banking.
If you aren't going to be a client, you don't really need it anyway; you can just handle the loan through an administrative freeze.

I guess I should probably chime in and say that my experience with them has been pretty solid so far. They seem decent enough and don't cause nearly as much of a headache as some of the other banks out there.

They were way more flexible than, say, Citigroup, which basically operates like one massive, rigid monolith...

Just make sure you keep your accounts in good standing. Then you won't have any issues.

This feels weird to me... I’ve been with JPMorgan Chase for over a year now and I’ve relied on their mobile app since day one: https://www.jpmorganchase.com/mobile-banking

Maybe it’s just a regional thing, who knows? I think there's a monthly service fee of maybe $5 or so, but in exchange, there aren't any hidden fees—or the hassle of standing in line at a branch 🙂 —when you're paying bills through the app. Personally, my experience with this bank has been pretty decent.

I guess the only real downside to them right now is that we still don't have mobile banking here in the States.

But if you actually ask them about this specific thing? Who knows. Maybe they've got it in the works and it'll pop up soon enough.

I've asked this a hundred times already.
They’ve been working on it for years now.
