They’ve been working on it for years now.

Well, if that's the case, then it's coming soon—no need to worry about it.😉

Great, thanks to everyone for sharing their stories. We’re finally getting some clarity today. Since we aren't just looking at a single bank account anymore, the mobile app is basically irrelevant now.

frozenmason642, you already sorted out that loan or what?
Nancy Hughes7, let me know how it went if you don't mind.

Yeah, I guess you could say that—I actually had my loan approved about two weeks ago.

From what I can tell, their rates look decent—both for existing customers and new folks.
But we aren't even with them; we're stuck with unknown, and their interest rates are honestly pretty steep.
And honestly? I’d probably just stay put with unknown anyway—dealing with the headache of switching everything over right now because of this loan would be a total nightmare.

I don't know, I wasn't exactly looking to jump ship from my old bank either, but I guess they just offered me a better rate since I was already a client.

Yeah, exactly what I figured. We'll see how it plays out... maybe one of us will end up switching over to them. We don't have any loans or credit cards right now. I used to dip into my overdraft a bit (not anymore), but from what I've gathered, if it's just an authorized overdraft, it shouldn't be an issue.

So they check everything, right?
Do you know if I can, like, hit up two or three different banks in a single week to shop around for the best deal before deciding?
Asking because of the credit score checks and all that.
I'm not sure if this is even true, but I heard there's a waiting period—like, if you run a credit check today, you might have to wait a while before you can do it again?
Is that actually how it works?

Sorry for bugging you.

Everyone’s obsessing over checking their credit report, I suppose. But honestly, having an overdraft isn't really the issue they care about; they're mostly just scanning for any existing loans you might be carrying. I mean, sure, look at your balance, but that negative number probably isn't the dealbreaker.
You could technically hit up several different banks in a single day to shop around for offers, but if you finally settle on one, you'll have to track down every single bank that pulled your credit report where a loan didn't actually go through, just to get them to give you some kind of proof that those applications were never finalized.

I had a loan with them where the interest rate was variable, but it actually stayed pretty steady—it even dipped a bit during those last few months. Honestly, they weren't breathing down my neck like other banks do, so everything went super smoothly. I should mention my loan wasn't huge; it was just a smaller amount over three years, but still, my experience was nothing but positive. One big plus? I wasn't even a long-time customer there, and most importantly, they were incredibly fast and you never have to deal with annoying crowds at their branches.

Nancy Hughes7, let me know how it went if you don't mind.

So, my husband turned in his employment verification today. They told us on Wednesday that we'd hear back soon—that the loan would be finalized. Basically, the cash lands in our account at Chase, then we just use their online banking to pay the monthly installments to the other bank, and that’s the whole game.

I'm just sitting here waiting on my paycheck from February since I finally got a raise—gotta see those new numbers hit the stub.

Wait, what kind of verification were they asking my husband for?

An employment and income verification letter that needs an employer's signature—that's the document they hand you at the bank.

Alright, looking through the recent posts here, I don't really get the vibe that they're actually asking for it... someone even mentioned they aren't looking for anything special compared to what other banks are offering.

I've already stopped by a few different places, and honestly, nobody even brought it up. We weren't even trying to pull any stunts—we were just checking in on interest rates and general info.

Bank of America is my main account, but their rates are pretty steep.

It seems like everything just depends on which branch you walk into and what kind of banker you happen to deal with that day.

And I bet every single bank asks for it. When we took out our last loan back in 2008, they required the exact same thing.

I wouldn't go that far—my sister just grabbed a loan from Bank of America a few days ago and nobody asked her for any of that. It wasn't even through their main branch.

I don't know, honestly. I thought everyone was looking for one. This is unfortunately my second loan, and if things go right, it'll be my last 😁, so I’m not exactly an expert here. For the first one, they didn't even ask for my blood

It really depends on which bank you're dealing with. I've had JPMorgan Chase ask me for employer verification more than once.

I just got hit with an email from my bank last week about some interest rate adjustments... It’s infuriating. I took out a $25,000 personal loan a few years back, and when all is said and done, I’m going to end up handing them about $35,000 total.
