Does anyone have a clue what’s coming next? Are they gonna swap out all our cards and change up the account numbers? I'm wondering if this is gonna be a whole mess like when we had to deal with those old banking mergers back in the day.

I wonder if they might be planning to clear out those negative balances on current accounts right away? 😂

So they say it's a USPS client from JPMorgan Chase—does that mean we're heading to the USPS or JPMorgan Chase tomorrow??

Of course. There will be new USPS accounts and cards issued.

Come on, just take a second to actually think it through—it shouldn't be that hard to reach a conclusion.

Does that mean CDs transfer over to them, or do they just get terminated?

Dana Parker65 said:That entire mindset is exactly what landed JPMorgan Chase in this mess. Now I’m just sitting here waiting for the inevitable run on Zabavka; some reporter at the press conference actually dropped their name.

Marić is back at it again, claiming deposits are safe regardless of whether we're looking at a bailout or total liquidation.

The fundamental issue here is that when you deposit money into a bank account, it isn't sitting in a little lockbox with a key that you can just grab whenever you feel like it.

In the world of high finance, money in a bank account is essentially a joint venture between the depositor and the institution—and as such, it carries the inherent risk of collapsing for any number of reasons. The only thing a person can realistically do in a situation like this is rely on insurance to cover the loss, provided they actually have it.

How many people depositing money into these accounts actually realize they are dealing with businessmen?

So, starting tomorrow, JPMorgan Chase is officially up and running under the new ownership. It’s following the same playbook they used with the other big merger.

Eventually, the two banks will fully merge, which means all the clients will be transitioned over to new account numbers, fresh cards, and so on.

Where though? 😁

You're probably the only other person here with the b-free account, right?
Personally, I'm not even holding my breath for a card or a PIN, and I'm honestly pretty skeptical about whether the JPMorgan Chase app will even work properly. 😁

Also, I assume all those people rushing in are actually leaving their money behind now that Wells Fargo took over?

I'm also looking to go fee-free
By the way, I currently bank with Wells Fargo.

I possess a B-Free account as well, and one can access it through online banking.
However, the mobile banking application remains completely non-functional. I find myself in a rather peculiar situation where a certain savings account of mine reached its maturity, and the funds were automatically transferred into a specific checking account. While that account is visible within the mobile app, it remains entirely invisible when using the desktop online banking interface. Therefore, I am truly, sincerely hoping that the mobile banking service will finally become operational today. 🕺
EDIT: Ha, ha, ha... well, it appears online banking was available until just this moment, but as I attempted to log back in just now, it informs me that the service is temporarily unavailable until noon. Let us simply hope that after 12:00 PM, everything will be rectified and working smoothly...

The whole B-Free setup is pretty useless since there isn't even a debit card, let alone a physical security token anymore.

It gets even more ridiculous when you realize the bank tellers can't actually help you at the branch. Since funds from B-Free are transferred exclusively online to your designated checking account—which is usually over at a different bank like Chase—only the account holder can handle it. Even if a teller wanted to help, they don't have the authority to initiate the transfer, which seems pretty illogical.

Could someone please share if they've actually managed to get this working?
I'm definitely not a fan of having to visit a branch in person. 😁

Quincy:
I don't quite follow what you mean by that. Could you clarify? kaže:
The issue is that when you deposit cash into your bank account, it doesn't sit there in a physical piggy bank with a lock that you can just pop open whenever you feel like grabbing some spending money.

Money sitting in a bank account isn't really "yours" in the absolute sense; it’s more like a joint venture between you and the bank. You’re essentially partners in a financial arrangement, which means there's always a built-in risk that things could go south for one reason or another. In a worst-case scenario, the only real safety net you have is FDIC insurance. If the system fails, that's your only way to make sure you aren't left holding the bag.

How many people opening bank accounts actually realize they’re essentially acting as business owners?
That’s on the bank, not the saver. Honestly, I couldn't care less about how they manage their internal processes or their specific way of handling transactions. If they've convinced themselves that their banking logic actually makes sense, that's their own issue to deal with.

Is everyone still stuck waiting 12 hours just to pull cash out, or has things finally calmed down enough that funds actually stay put?

I’m honestly dying to know what’s gonna happen to my Google account once they finish this whole merger and move my checking over from JPMorgan Chase to Wells Fargo.

Well, if Wells Fargo decides to stick with this product, it stays exactly as it is. If they decide to scrap it, it just becomes a standard Wells Fargo checking account.

It’s like how Citigroup killed off the QuickBooks product that was originally at the local bank. It literally turned into nothing more than a basic savings account with some interest. They did the same thing with those local bank packages, too—just forced everyone onto whatever Citigroup considered the "closest match."

EDIT: Oh, wait, I see now that Smartworks is actually a Wells Fargo product... well, then they'll probably just merge those two checking accounts. They'll likely move the funds from JPMorgan Chase over to your existing Smartworks account.
