I’m not entirely sure why I ended up in this subforum. Sometimes I want some advice or just a conversation, but then again, I have zero interest in talking about my feelings or what’s on my mind.
I’ve spent my whole life avoiding emotional discussions, skipping serious talks, and dodging responsibility. It worked perfectly fine for me until two days ago. I’ve always been a stoic—someone who doesn't sweat the small stuff, doesn't get attached to people, and doesn't care about material things because they don't matter.

Anyone who knows me would tell you I’m as detached as they come.
Lately, it isn't even about being worried; it’s just that I don't know what to do with myself. I’ve fallen into a rut that I can't seem to break out of, or at least I haven't found the way out yet.
Looking back at my life and everything I've done, I've realized I only ever do things because I feel like doing them in the moment, not because there's any long-term benefit.
I don't have a grand life goal, no drive to accomplish anything, and no vision for the future. In fact, I don't even think about the future.
The past doesn't cross my mind either; I just live day to day.
I'm getting tired of this lifestyle, especially regarding motivation. I’m currently repeating a year at my university, and while I know I should study for the sake of my career, I just can't force myself to hit the books. And it's not just school; it's everything.
Whatever I start, I do for a little while and then quit as soon as I get bored.

I've written too much. I won't go into the details since there's already plenty of content here.
I'd be open to some advice.

Try to actually visualize the kind of life you want to lead and start taking steps toward it. Try to find motivation in the things you already have or the interests that usually get you moving. Get out more, socialize, and ask people you actually trust for their perspective. I'm in a similar boat right now, though unfortunately, I already dropped out of college. For me, volunteering has been somewhat fulfilling; maybe through that, I'll stumble upon a career path I actually care about. Honestly, any job is a good job, even if it's just working sanitation or something. The point is to be doing *something*, to be actively engaged in something...

I’ve spent plenty of time visualizing the life I want, and I have a clear picture of it, but motivation just isn't there. I can't find the drive to start anything, and even when I do, I get bored within two weeks. It might sound strange, but nothing actually moves the needle for me right now. My only real goal is to wake up tomorrow and do the exact same thing. I'm stuck in this endless loop of coffee runs and hanging out with friends. I spend most of my time socializing, though sometimes I prefer being alone, and that’s just how it is.
Regarding work, I've been applying everywhere, trying to find something that lets me work while finishing my degree so I can be financially independent. At 21, it's embarrassing having to ask my parents for gas money or cash to go out. The reality is that nobody wants to hire someone with just a high school diploma and zero experience. I just want a job to break this monotony—something to give me a reason to actually get out of bed in the morning.

Look, try volunteering. That’s what I started doing, and maybe it’ll give you a sense of purpose. To be honest, I don't have any motivation either; I'm pretty much constantly on the verge of a depressive episode and feeling completely lost. I only see my friends once or twice a week, sometimes even less, I don't know. I don't have a girlfriend, and since I only have a high school diploma and no degree, I'm seriously struggling. But even so, I volunteer and I keep hunting for a job. When it comes to motivation, I think it helps to look at it this way: even hanging out with people shouldn't feel pointless, because you're sharing experiences, whether they're good or bad. Every single experience should ideally push you to move forward. Same goes for things that matter in life, or maybe things that used to matter to you—like old hobbies or stuff you used to love doing. Try to find something like that and sink your teeth into it. Discover some new music, watch a new movie, play a game, try learning a new skill. If you're single, try talking to someone out there and see where it goes. That's how I try to motivate myself; it doesn't always go as smoothly as I'd like, but I'm trying. The most important thing is to stay active and not let yourself get buried under those heavy thoughts that just drag you down.

Honestly, I feel you—the whole thing feels pretty pointless right now. Maybe try just wandering around town or hitting up a trail somewhere; might actually be interesting if you get out of the house. Throw on some headphones and just explore some new spots 😁
Just find some motivation, man. Convince yourself the material isn't total garbage even if it feels like it. Just keep your eyes on the prize—think about the paycheck and that BMW you're gonna be driving once you're done with school 🤣🤣🤣

This sounds to me like you've been brainwashed... honestly, it sounds like they scrubbed your mind clean. It’s just a collection of tired clichés at this point.

If I were to offer some advice, I’d say try to shake off all those internalized grievances and actually spend some time focusing on yourself. Truly get to know who you are. You definitely exist, so maybe take a look at this video
and let me know if you see anything that might be triggering this state you're in. In short, I suspect you've turned all your sense of accountability and self-criticism inward.

I assume you are aware of the sort of society we live in today... I highly doubt you simply gave up on everything and lost all drive entirely on your own. Previously, I might have suggested you were being indoctrinated—perhaps through some psychological manipulation under the guise of "love," as they say—but then again, that is merely my opinion.

Take care.🙂
