So my ex and I used to fight constantly—like, all the time—but we always end up circling back to the same thing, where fighting just feels pointless and we shouldn't stop talking... He actually told me straight up he wants us to be friends because it’s just stupid to stay silent after everything we've been through. And now we're right back where we started... Is that even real friendship? Or is it just some weird connection where we realize life sucks if we aren't talking? 🙄

What do you honestly think it is?

Man... there’s just no future for you guys right now. Maybe in a few years, once the dust finally settles and you’ve actually gone a while without seeing or even talking to each other? But that’s a massive "maybe" at best.
Look, what you're dealing with here is actually pretty heavy stuff. It’s great that you have that spark—that chemistry or whatever connection one of you is clearly too terrified to admit exists—but that tension just keeps building because you aren't actually "venting" it. Think of it like pressure building up in a steam pipe; if you don't release it, eventually, big bang—boom—you've got a massive blowout fight on your hands.

Try pulling apart a little. See if you can actually hold out and go radio silent for a bit. A long time, actually. That's the only way you'll figure out if there's a real friendship there or if you're both just clinging to old habits.

Whatever happens, good luck.

Look, just take a few months to get some actual breathing room from one another—seriously—and then you'll be able to get a much more realistic read on whether you actually even like each other enough to call it a friendship.

The odds of them actually replying after that much time? They're basically zero.

Honestly, if things are already falling apart, you might as well just cut ties completely instead of dragging out the misery just to say you're still "together." Why force something that's clearly broken?

Or better yet: don't get involved in the first place.

Look, there are some things you just won't wrap your head around until you actually put yourself out there and take the hit. Obviously, if you’ve got enough life experience to see a disaster coming from a mile away—like seeing a red flag waving in your face—there's no point in forcing it. But then again, you look at the people who play it safe every single time, never taking a chance on anything? Those people are actually taking the biggest risk of all!

We’ve already seen how that plays out. Why on earth would anyone risk everything just to repeat a mistake we've already made?
