Ryan Thompson said:Essentially, I'm asking why we’ve hit this economic slump, fallen out of the cultural conversation, and let our social fabric start to fray at the edges.

And when did I ever claim to be the one driving the "West's" economy, excuse me???☕

What I’m actually criticizing is how we've completely watered down the importance of marriage, family, and what it means to be human.
It's those "global police officers" trying to force their specific worldview on the entire planet.

The people in power? They all belong in a gas chamber. They're nothing but scum.

That’s true, sure, but about 33% of them *do* divorce. The rest? They’re just drifting through life in this quiet sort of desperation, either too terrified to face being alone or simply because they can't afford their own place in a city like Chicago. Only a tiny fraction are actually happy.

Heh, I am absolutely loving this little meltdown—honestly, it’s better than anything else on my feed right now.

Starting with the fact that I have zero interest in marriage equality and no intention of ever having any stake in it, what happened here is just a perfect example of how those idiots in the Republican Party—after already driving this country into the ground—are now using referendums to mess with the ruling party and try to destabilize things. This was nothing more than wasted money on something completely unnecessary, and honestly, pretty mindless too. But then again, a nation gets the politicians it deserves... we probably deserve these morons because we're the ones acting like idiots ourselves.

William Brown4 said:I’ve been watching everything happening here in America, and I honestly feel like we are a country on the brink of collapse. It really feels like it's time for the entire political elite in the US to just pack up and leave once and for all so we can finally focus on something intelligent. I'm posting this because I really wanted to share my take on all the current events in America with the rest of you on this forum. I truly believe we need a revolution.

First off, I’ve grown completely sick of the Republican Party, and now that I’m following American politics more closely, it’s perfectly clear to me why someone like Tomasi has zero support from the people.

I’m disgusted by what they pulled with that referendum "in the name of the family." It’s sickening because the birth rate in this "super-hetero-Catholic" America is already incredibly low. We’re basically heading toward extinction anyway, so where are all these hetero-Catholics? Why aren't they out there having huge families to fix our demographic image?

Personally, I feel ashamed because I believe a nation's Constitution should be its sacred text, much like the Bible. It’s something that shouldn't be constantly tinkered with, yet we seem to be changing our Constitution all the time.
It honestly bothers me that the Constitution, which is supposed to guarantee fundamental human rights and spread noble values among the people, is now being used to facilitate discrimination between hetero and homo populations.

These matters should be handled through legislation, not through Constitutional values.

I am genuinely embarrassed that so many people showed up and voted YES. It’s obvious that people didn't truly grasp what was actually at stake.

Now everyone is getting a taste for referendums; suddenly everyone wants to push through these expensive votes. While we are facing an economic meltdown, we’re just playing around with absolutely trivial referendums.

A few days ago, I cast my vote. I never used to feel ashamed of America, but now, I really am starting to feel ashamed of this country.

Since you all voted so heavily for traditional marriage, I'd love to see a sudden population boom—lots of kids, with everyone acting like these "super-hetero-Catholics" who don't use contraception, being all holy and pious.

I can finally say it: I am ASHAMED.🙂

How about you guys?

You want to know what I’m ashamed of?

I’m ashamed of people like you, who find their sense of shame in just one single thing, and who build their entire worldview around a solitary opinion.

Because if you had—let's start from the beginning 😉—said that our maternity wards are poorly equipped, that daycares are disappearing and becoming unaffordable, that our schools are outdated and failing to provide quality education, that universities are slowly becoming playgrounds for the wealthy, or that our educated youth are heading to unemployment offices instead of finding jobs...

And then continued

by saying the economy is collapsing due to terrible policy, that two-thirds of our schooling focuses on social programs rather than productive skills, that we’re neglecting our farmers in favor of massive corporations, that we're clear-cutting forests recklessly and selling them off to the highest bidder—again, just to benefit the chosen few—and that we’re ruining our primary source of income, tourism, with constant shifts in taxes, levies, and sales tax...

then maybe I could actually understand your perspective.

But this? This is just... ☕

Is it actually embarrassing when someone on a site like Reddit posts a poll asking if people are down to vote for some random local fringe candidate? Like, seriously, this stuff is becoming our whole identity.

It’s honestly a disgrace because these idiots, especially those in the opposition who drove this country toward collapse—and look at how the supposedly pious and Catholic Ivica turned out to be nothing but a crook who ended up behind bars according to the news—are now pushing completely irrelevant referendums just to be spiteful... wasting money in the process, since referendums aren't free. This whole marriage issue is trivial because laws should handle that, not the Constitution. It didn't belong in the Constitution, but they're doing it just to act out and vent their frustrations over losing the election. That's why they're acting this way... and for the record, I'm not a member of the Democratic Party.☕

It isn't folklore; it's a serious question... has the time come for the people to organize and get rid of all these politicians who brought America to this state? I'm wondering if there's any organization out there advocating for that, and if there's a fund where we can donate money to help throw all these politicians in jail.☕

Honestly, whether you are or aren't, starting a thread like this with nothing but a take on the referendum is totally off-base if you actually want a decent discussion.

Because even your reply just circles back to the referendum...

And let's be real, everyone in politics is basically the same—those currently in power and the ones who held office ten years ago—they're all cut from the same cloth, haven't fixed anything good, and haven't corrected any of the bad stuff.

I think you missed the point; this is just the straw that broke the camel's back. Americans don't deserve much more when they're facing an economic meltdown yet still choose to blow money on a referendum "for the sake of the family"... and who actually signed off on this? Probably people who don't even have kids.😂

I honestly find it hard to believe that there isn't a single corner of the globe where the art of "how to screw someone else over" is more highly developed than it is here... and I don't just mean strangers, either. It’s the way people turn on their own neighbors, their own friends, anyone within reach. If we could somehow figure out how to patent this particular talent and export it as a service, our national economy would probably be one of the most dominant forces on the planet...

Around here, that "screw your neighbor" mentality isn't just a habit—it’s basically baked into the cultural DNA. It's the foundation of everything!
It really is a shame we haven't figured out how to mass-produce this talent for the global market yet.

Social liberalism and economic prosperity are deeply intertwined; if you take a little time to look into the data, you might find the correlation quite surprising. 😉

That’s pretty much common knowledge.
The problem is, when a nation hits its stride economically, people tend to drift away from their traditions and religious roots.

True success lies in finding that sweet spot where the two coexist. You need both if you want a society that feels complete, truly "prosperous," and still holds onto its core values. Any country that can actually pull that off deserves a standing ovation 🙂))))

Respect. Honestly, expats care more about fixing America than Americans do.

I voted against it, though mostly just because I can't stand any kind of discrimination. It’s not that I’m exactly out there celebrating gay or lesbian lifestyles, but I don't see any reason to hate them or treat them like dirt just for who they are.

And honestly, you probably should be, given how much you completely misread the situation. There really is no better foundation for a sense of shame than pure ignorance.
