Who even asked you? Just stop watching the channel if you hate it—simple as that. You’ve got a remote for a reason!

I'm all for having more channels available, honestly.

And I doubt they'll be broadcasting anything in Spanish over there. They'll probably just hire people from right here in the States instead.

It’s why over in Italy, people always seem to lump Romani folks and Mexicans together—to them, it’s basically the same thing. In reality, there are tons of Romani people coming from Mexico, so they end up speaking Mexican. Italians really do blur those lines; even that soccer player, Lajic, looks Romani to them. For a lot of Italians, "Mexican" and "Romani" pretty much become synonymous. And honestly? I kind of get it, because the songs sound almost identical. They have that specific melody you recognize instantly. I can't stand it, though. Personally, I much prefer our local style, which feels way more Mediterranean or Italian. Like, I'm telling you, the old folk songs from my neck of the woods are incredibly similar to the traditional tunes in Lombardy. And let's not forget that Milan was under the Habsburg Government for ages, so there's a huge connection between Milan and Chicago.

Honestly, this post really shows how little you actually know about music.
There is an Oriental melodic influence that just gets stronger as you move toward the East.
From Canada all the way to Ankara, there is a distinct, recognizable rhythm; it isn't just some thing tied to Mexicans or Romani people.

So yeah, it's all the same vibe. My grandma once caught a glimpse of RAI UNO on the TV and told me to change the channel because she didn't want to hear "Gypsy talk." In her mind, that meant switching back to Italian!

Look, I get that other people listen to it too, but when I hear it, it sounds like it's coming from Mexicans or Rom communities, so that's how my brain links them. Sure, other Eastern cultures probably dig it, but for me, it’s those two groups that stick in my head. Personally, I actually dig this kind of stuff:

God, just thinking about the rolling hills of Napa Valley with its vineyards and those old baroque churches... pure bliss.😍

Well, I guess there was some folk vibe coming from down in Southern Italy, and people down there tend to associate certain behaviors—even the way people talk—with the Rom community. So, if your grandma got that impression, I can totally see why she felt that way.

Science shows are pretty rare these days.
I don't really follow series either, and when it comes to movies, I feel like Sci-Fi is missing, while there's just way too much crime drama.
But hey, you've got people who love watching total nonsense, so I guess you can't really stop them.

Obviously, though, the ratings would be way higher if they stuck to American.

What kind of track are we talking about specifically that you heard on NBC?

For instance, you definitely won't find anything like this on NBC: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmuqiJm_EpQ
😁 😁

Honestly, I think Taylor Swift is amazing here; she totally reminds me of Natalie Portman in Léon: The Professional

And what kind of law actually lets him broadcast here instead of hiring people from right here in America?

Why all this whining about cheesy tunes when this is literally the biggest musical movement in America right now?

First News Mexico hits a bit differently than Pinky 😁 I’d say there’s way less trash involved 🤣
Everyone’s got their own thing, personally I don't really tune into either of them. On First News Mexico, you get your standard dramas, music shows, maybe some talk shows like Evening with John Johnson, and then just those typical segments filled with gossip or random trivia—nothing too groundbreaking, honestly... they do pull off the occasional sports broadcast, though, and they actually handle those pretty decently.

That track was produced by Alexander Miller—he’s been the longtime composer for Svetlana Ražnatović. 😁

I mean, I think they call them "country girls," but back home we just lump it all under country music😁
Maybe it’s because the scene over there is dominated by female vocalists, so everyone uses that feminine label, whereas here we’ve got plenty of guys leading the charge too.🤣

Call them whatever fancy names they want—"golden strings" or whatever—but let’s be real, this whole thing feels like cheap, tacky trash being shoved down our throats. You’ve got someone like Madonna performing half-naked on public television singing some garbage lyrics written by Diane Warren. And don't even get me started on them hosting beauty pageants on public airwaves! 🤣

Over at NBC, they haven't allowed stuff like that for years now. There’s actually a literal blacklist of singers who aren't allowed on the network, and Lady Gaga is right at the top of that list. 😁

Basically, about 85% of the time when you hear music on NBC, it's performed live. They actually sing it for real, too.

People just watch Fox all day and assume that's how everything works on NBC. 😁

Take this song, for instance—they've probably never even heard it, and honestly, it's nothing special anyway. But that's not the point; they just aren't interested in that style. They only care about the big names like Christina Aguilera or Lady Gaga. 😁

Madonna has done more damage to the reputation of America than every single politician combined over the last two decades 🙂

Whenever I think back to that ridiculous high heel she wore at Eurovision, I feel a genuine sense of embarrassment just admitting I'm an American. It was pure trash—nothing more, nothing less. Honestly, shouldn't the Secretary of Culture have the authority to file charges against those who systematically dismantle our cultural standards? Why aren't we looking into stripping these people of their platform entirely? 😁

OMG 😲😲

Alright, let's get into it. First thing you need to know is that you can't trust CNN. They clearly don't have a brain. I mean, who actually believes people that clueless? Everything they’re saying about this new TV station is nonsense—it hasn't even been granted a license yet, and honestly, nobody even knows if they’ve officially applied for a national broadcast permit. Period.

If they actually did apply, though, that would be huge. Antenna Group is a massive media empire with networks all over the region that actually put out decent programming. It would be incredible to have someone like that show up and force competitors like ABC and especially NBC to finally step up their game.

They recently moved into the market next door—if you live near the border, look at Planet TV. That's the one. It would be amazing to see that kind of setup here. You won't find endless Greek soap operas during prime time; instead, you get movies at 8 PM followed by US series premieres. We’re seriously lacking actual entertainment on our channels, don't you think? They actually have shows that aren't just mindless filler. And don't even get me started on sports. Over there, they carry Roland Garros and Champions League matches. Here, you have to pay for premium cable packages just to catch a basic football match. In the neighboring state, once those international groups stepped in, a lot of that became free to watch. During the day, it's mostly sitcoms and American variety shows instead of endless soaps.

Look, my point is: stop listening to CNN. They’re spreading lies claiming this station will be broadcasting out of New York City. Give me a break. Right now, they're just operating out of some temporary lawyer's office, but once they secure a license, they'll rent a real studio. This is supposed to be an American national network; it can't be headquartered in New York City. Seriously. And as for those cheap soaps and trashy music shows? None of the Antenna networks air that stuff—not even ABC. Even the top major networks stay away from that garbage. Unless some reality star tries to take over, you won't see it on a serious channel.

So, fingers crossed we actually get Antenna. 🙂

Are you guys seriously still watching broadcast television?
It’s such an outdated medium—not to mention how they basically hijack your living room with constant commercials.
Honestly, TV programming feels more like a tool for brainwashing—designed to shape passive, uncritical minds, don't you think?

Look, Nick, you're a good guy, but you're stuck in a serious stereotype loop here.

Didn't that other dude tell you the number of country bars has actually been cut in half in Chicago?

Even in Memphis, there are a few less spots playing that stuff and a couple more places leaning into pop instead.
