There’s no huge rush on my end—I don't need an answer until Wednesday—so if you wouldn't mind checking whenever you're back at the office, that would be great. To give you an idea of what the list includes, it shows things like mutual separation, layoff, position elimination, termination for cause, misconduct, disciplinary dismissal, extraordinary circumstances, and just "other" (which is exactly how it's phrased). Honestly, I'm a bit stuck on which category fits best here.

From my experience, you can honestly just select "other"—it doesn't really matter to them. I usually list that my contract ended, but I've
selected "other" a few times before without any issues. I mean, nobody ever questioned me about it, and frankly, I didn't want to specify that I was let go due to
workplace policy violations... especially since I know that if someone is fired for reasons they caused themselves—or if they were laid off because of something the company did 🤔—they wouldn't be eligible for unemployment benefits through the state agency

Thanks. In that case, I'll just put "other." It’s not really anyone's fault here; the employee just didn't meet the requirements for this specific role during the probationary period, which is exactly how it's worded in the official notice. So, that's that. Thanks! 😉

Medicare will no longer be sending processed forms directly to our email addresses.
They have rolled out a new online portal for employers—a way to monitor enrollments, terminations, and various status changes digitally.

Has anyone actually managed to navigate through to that data yet? Has anyone successfully logged into the application? I am running into some technical hurdles—specifically some Java issues—and quite frankly, nobody seems to be responding to my inquiries.

I finally managed to get through, though it was an absolute struggle. I have Java version 8 update 45 installed and followed their online instructions to the letter—clicking everything they told me to—and I eventually got in. However, the site keeps flagging a security warning, telling me the page isn't secure. I basically have to bypass the warnings and proceed at my own risk every single time just to get moving, but I keep clicking through the alerts and somehow make it work.

Which browser are you using? I am on Safari, running Java 8u45, but I simply cannot get the security settings to cooperate—specifically regarding adding this site to my trusted list. That is where I am stuck, despite following the manual. Regardless, I will sort it out once I have more free time. My main priority right now was simply verifying if the website was even operational. Thank you. 🙂

I managed to get through on Internet Explorer two days ago, but today it's being completely stubborn, so I ended up trying via Chrome instead... honestly, it’s been a struggle involving way too many clicks and it definitely isn't running smoothly. At this point, I can't tell if the issue lies with their server being hit-or-miss or if it's something else entirely...
Earlier this week, I sent an inquiry to support@medicare.gov because I couldn't get the settings to work. I sent over several screenshots so they could verify if I had configured everything correctly. As it turns out, the mistake was mine; under the Java security settings, I had typed "http" instead of "https," which caused the whole thing to fail. Once I corrected that, it started working, but I still get those constant security warnings before I can enter. Sometimes I get in, and sometimes it takes a few tries, so...

I have finally resolved it; I accessed the application via Internet Explorer. Everything is working perfectly now.

I managed to get in too, but there's a catch—it's only showing me one employer's Tax ID, even though I should be able to see all three listed on the same certificate.🤔>
Does anyone have any idea what’s going on here?

Honestly, I'm pretty confused by this whole thing. Over the last few days, I handled several enrollments and terminations, and everything came through my email perfectly fine—I even got an enrollment notification for a dependent today🤔. Does that mean we don't have to register dependents anymore? I'm guessing this only applies to existing dependents, not newborns.

Also, I managed to log into the new app, but the print layout is a total mess; when I try to print a form, it stretches across three different pages. I tried looking for a print preview, but I can't find anything else. Honestly, since they're still emailing me, I'll just stick to printing the attachments from my inbox and handing them to the employees that way.

I didn't say my notification for the dependent came before the one for the employee—the worker one hasn't arrived yet—but I can see it sitting there in their new app. It's strange, really quite strange...

I assume they still need to polish the interface. On my end, it prints on two pages, yet the layout looks slightly different from the versions sent by email. For instance, I can't even see their official seal or electronic signature.

So, I’m finally moving from my training program into a "real" job. One of the first things on my to-do list is sorting out the paperwork to opt out of the pension scheme. Does anyone know how long that process actually takes? Also—can I just walk into the Social Security office and handle it in person, or am I stuck doing everything online?

If your employer uses an electronic filing system for Social Security, then you'll need to go through that digital route. Essentially, they handle both the termination of your current status and the registration for your new one at the same time. For instance, you might set your end date as June 30th and your start date as July 1st. You can actually submit these filings in advance, and they usually process them pretty quickly. Personally, I always use the online portal, and they tend to wrap everything up within two days. The most important part is simply getting the paperwork submitted; once it's processed, you just print out the confirmation and you're all set.

Could you walk me through exactly what I need to turn in and who actually needs it? Here’s the deal—I’m moving from one job in one city over to a new gig in a different city, and things are moving pretty fast, so there's zero time to waste.
From what I gather, my current employer just needs to de-register me from the pension system through the online portal. Once they do that, how long does it usually take before I can get an official paper or some kind of confirmation of my de-registration to show my new boss?

You can actually get a confirmation right away stating that the cancellation request has been submitted and is just sitting there waiting to be processed. Things are a bit hectic at the moment, so it might take an additional two or three days before they officially wrap everything up...

An employee was working on a fixed-term contract as an assistant construction worker until June 30th. As of July 1st, he transitioned to a permanent role, but his job title changed too—he’s now a warehouse manager. I need to update his records with Medicare, but when I try to change both the occupation and the contract type at once, the system blocks me, saying I can only edit one field per filing. Does this mean I have to submit two separate M-3P forms—one for the job title and one for the contract status? I'm also a bit thrown by the fact that there isn't a "start date" box for the occupation change; I don't want to accidentally overwrite his original registration as an assistant worker since he held that position for a full year. Any advice?

Ben, I honestly can't say for sure since I haven't run into anything quite like this myself... You might want to try calling the local support office in your area and see if they can walk you through it
