Notary public services for certified copies

I need to get my high school diplomas and citizenship papers notarized so I can finish my college applications. Does anyone happen to know what the going rate is for a notary these days? Also—and this is a big one—can I just bring in the photocopies for them to stamp, or am I stuck having to lug my actual original documents all the way there?

You’re gonna hand him the original plus one copy for him to notarize, right? And honestly, it shouldn't cost you more than about 40 bucks $17 per set, I think.

I’m a little confused here—do they charge per document or is it one flat fee for everything? I’ve got four different certificates, plus my high school diploma and my birth certificate that all need notarized copies sent in for my application... if they're charging somewhere around $40-$17 per item, that puts me somewhere between $240 and $100 total, I guess.
