Which Western countries' foreign policies do you support most?

Most Western foreign policies feel pretty expansionist, imperialistic, maybe even colonialist at times—everyone’s just looking out for their own neck. But I wonder, is there any single Western nation whose policy you actually find yourself supporting? Or, if that's too strong, which one bothers you the least?

For me, it’s probably the Federal Republic of Germany. I'll try to sit down and write out a proper explanation when I have more breathing room.

Man, this is a tough call to make. When you look at the big players—those loud, powerhouse nations—it’s hard to say whose policies bother me the least. Almost all of them seem to be running on some kind of expansionist playbook, whether they're being overtly aggressive or just playing the long game through more subtle channels—you know, things like arms deals, diplomacy, or squeezing people economically. But if we're talking about the smaller guys, the ones with limited resources and way less leverage to pull moves on the world stage, I’d probably go with a small, chill, neutral country like Austria.

The US, obviously. The only superpower actually looking out for everyone else's interests.

I’d like to think you wrote that as a bit of a joke—hopefully? Because if we're being honest, no great power on this planet acts out of some selfless devotion to humanity; they act, quite predictably, solely to protect their own skin. If I had to pick one country with a policy set that's even remotely tolerable, I might point toward Germany, though calling them a global powerhouse feels like a bit of a stretch.

I'm strictly an American supporter.

Germany is incredibly shady to me, and I'm totally against British politics.

Honestly, this guy makes the biggest stink on the whole forum. He seems to think that if he repeats a million times that his country is the greatest and most democratic, it'll somehow become reality. It's actually kind of pathetic...

Seriously though, who would’ve guessed twenty years ago that Eastern Europe would become such a powerhouse ally for the US? Seeing Polish and American troops out there fighting side-by-side is just wild. After 45 years of living in the dark, we're finally right where we belong—in the West.

It just goes to show that Americans, Poles, the Baltic nations, and the Czechs in the East didn't end up there by choice. They were occupied.

Everything.

As for anything outside the Western democracies? Absolutely none of it.

Finland, Switzerland.

Iceland, but they're just too small to matter when you're staring down the big players.

Any nation can steer its own foreign policy. For a while there, Poland actually acted more like a fully sovereign state than Germany ever did. Of course, they've loosened up lately.
