I’ve been on this repayment plan for over a year now, and I haven't missed a single payment. But here's the thing... if my memory serves me right, my banker at JPMorgan Chase told me that once I hit the one-year mark, they'd restore my ability to pay in installments and bump up my overdraft limit to a certain amount. Well, it’s been a few months past that one-year milestone, and nothing has changed. Has anyone else dealt with this? Should I just roll up my sleeves, head down to the branch, and demand they actually honor what they promised?
Speaking from experience...
Banks won't ever hand you anything unless you go in asking for it. And even then, if they offer something up, it's usually rigged against you just to line their pockets.
Try to use bank products as little as possible, or better yet, not at all.
If you have a job, you gotta have a checking account, obviously. But everything else? Cut it out. If you can't cut it out, minimize it.
As a former "debt-free minimalist," let me tell you... being able to breathe easy after cutting ties with the banks feels way better than when I finally quit smoking...
