John Allen5 said:🤷 I don't see the issue here... you can knock this out in ten seconds using Excel...
If you have, say, three employees who contributed a total of $657 MIO, and the total interest calculated is $32, you just figure out each person's percentage of that total and multiply it by the interest—let's say $32..

For example:
Employee | MIO | Share | Interest
A | 500 | 0.253807107 | 24.36548223
B | 650 | 0.329949239 | 31.6751269
C | 820 | 0.416243655 | 39.95939086
Total | 1970 | 1 | $32

It's really not that simple... what about employees who've already left the company... or the new hires?

Do you see the actual problem? It isn't a matter of simply splitting the total interest among currently active staff... it's about allocating it to the specific individuals for whom the interest was actually earned 😉

This isn't some reverse psychology tactic; I'm just being honest about what I want right now 😉

After two months of waiting, Medicare finally mailed me back the paperwork they lost. They didn't even bother registering my small business; they just sent everything right back to me. When I asked them, "Hey, why wasn't the registration completed? Is there an issue?" the lady on the phone just goes, "Well, you told us to let you know once we found the files, so we just mailed them to your house so you wouldn't have to go through the hassle of coming down here..."
I couldn't help but burst out laughing. What are you even supposed to say to that?

well, maybe you don't even want to register him anymore 🙂))
A total disaster!!!
It’s hardly surprising. No one ever taught her how to think, and besides, why bother now? They should have handled it years ago.
They just sit there, cozy within the thick walls of some government fortress, completely indifferent to everyone else. They spend their days stamping forms and showing up at rallies to support collective bargaining agreements.
As far as she's concerned, she did you a favor by finding those papers and mailing them to save you the trip.😂

Dubo said:You’re right that we should cover topics people actually care about, but you're wrong if you think looking at just a few pages tells the whole story—it's all high-level technical debates and maintenance talk. Don't you see there are no actual questions here? No beginners, no newcomers, just the same 4 or 5 "regulars." I interpret that differently; maybe people are just intimidated by how overly technical everything is... Even though I can follow almost everything being said, even I'm getting bored with this level... I honestly just wish someone would tell me if it's even possible to get Synapse running properly on Windows 7!

Hallelujah!!!
Finally, someone noticed..
It wasn't that I was "intimidated by expertise," it's more that a couple of pages back, I realized I couldn't understand a single thing being said..
And when I asked for a simple definition, some condescending expert decided to lecture me on what kind of accountant I am and how I clearly don't understand numbers..
Since I didn't have a comeback on his level, I just gave up on asking questions altogether.
While we're on the subject, my overall impression of this forum is that if you dare to ask something you don't know, you'll always find some know-it-all ready to mock you..
Quality advice and reasoned answers are becoming harder and harder to find.

Iceman said:claims they have 25,000 references. hilarious.

If you're acting like a child, then yeah, that's you. If it's so funny, why don't you just download their reference list and start calling them? Look, Dubo actually got in touch with them and tested things out. He says they’re polite (I guess even ghosts can be polite), but his verdict was that switching isn't worth the cost. The reason they don't blast their client data all over their website has everything to do with those "numerous" references. A certain percentage of them—maybe 10-20%, who knows—are free users. Imagine if all of them started blowing up your phone; how many helpdesk operators would you need to hire just to deal with free users?
That's already explained here, and it's on their site too, but apparently, you missed it. I honestly don't get how their customers find their phone number or bank details. You probably just get an offer and an invoice that, surprisingly enough, includes the account info, phone number, and distributor name.
I don't know why you're attacking Techno. It's obvious I'm getting under your skin because I mention them so often. So instead, go after me, but try to find some smarter, more reasoned criticism for them.
I'm not their lawyer, and I don't work in their marketing or helpdesk departments (Dubo just asked me to explain a few things, so I pointed him straight to them).
Besides, I mention other programs too, but we're discussing the lower price bracket here, where I recommend Techno. As for Synapse, I gave a very objective opinion (which was actually quite positive; even Dubo praised me for being objective). But hey, if you think Synapse is better, fine. You clearly know what free databases are and you aren't exactly thrilled with Access (at least that's what your consistently superficial comments suggest), so this makes no sense to me. But when it comes to trashing someone, logic doesn't matter to you.
Anyway, you're one of those people who's great at venting but terrible at actually helping anyone.

I agree, though you might have been aiming that comment at my response above. I’m not the type to look down on anyone—quite the opposite. I can't stand arrogance. But in your case, the issue was different. You didn't even want to put in the effort to grasp the obvious facts that would have actually helped you. If you're struggling to understand what a price bracket is, then fine, we've reached the point where I'd practically have to explain why the sky is blue. People here don't have time for that.
And when people *do* take the time, you either get someone refusing to name the software they recommend, or you get those who just bash everything without making a single valid point. If that's the crowd that's preferred here, I might as well just walk away.

Since you called me out directly, let me explain why I’m keeping the software name under wraps. Hopefully, that settles this item on the agenda once and for all... The sole reason I won't name it publicly is because the owner and I have an agreement. He wants me to recommend his program exclusively to my business partners and people I actually know or have worked with... And since the owner is also a friend—we moved from a strictly professional relationship to a business-friendly one over the years—I respect his wishes...

Given that online forums are crawling with self-proclaimed "all-in-one" geniuses, and the market is flooded with "fly-by-night" companies where finding an honest firm you can actually work with feels like winning the Powerball, his decision makes perfect sense to me...

It's a small, family-run outfit with a few partners involved in development, and they intend to keep it that way... The "grab the cash and run until the experts leave" mentality isn't how they operate... and I respect that... Honestly, I'm the same way; I refuse to work with anyone I don't have a solid referral for... I've been burned too many times and paid far too much in taxes on invoices that I'll never actually collect...

Most importantly, you aren't going to see me recommending this program to just anyone. I am simply comparing experiences with various firms in the industry that I've dealt with... If I had a bad experience with someone being discussed here, naturally, I'm going to say so... if the experience was good, I'll say that too...

And I'll repeat what I've said before: this thread is titled ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE, not Synapse... I don't see any logical reason why this discussion should be treated as nothing more than a helpdesk for people with questions about Synapse while everyone else stays quiet...

If I'm wrong, then fine, rename the thread to SYNAPSE and I'll stop showing up here altogether...

That's why I'm glad Techtronic came up. As soon as I get a chance (read: when I actually have free time), I'll try to test their software. If it holds up, I might suggest it to people looking for a more budget-friendly solution (for things like invoicing, inventory, POS, etc.)... Because, truth be told, I am looking for a cheaper option that I can recommend to my clients with total peace of mind...

Your response is slightly misguided, given that the page displays phone numbers. Essentially, free users can reach out from 0 to 24...😁Downloading a program doesn't necessarily make you a user...

I haven't even written that down anywhere...😁 I was merely suggesting that it’s highly unlikely Techtronic is superior in every single category compared to Synapse. As someone else pointed out earlier... Synapse is perfectly adequate for a small bookstore, but once you deal with heavy inventory, it falters. Though, that’s an old story and hardly worth revisiting. You get what you pay for. Furthermore, I wasn't particularly impressed by the feedback from the user who tested Techtronic here. If anything, it felt like a budget program attempting to do too much while delivering very little. It seemed they tried to cover too much ground, resulting in a surface-level experience. Very few background processes... that was my impression. If it was just me, then perhaps it was someone else as well. I'm not stating it as fact, just how it felt. Whatever...

You recommend it, just privately. That's what I don't get. Why are people on this forum somehow less worthy than your personal contacts? Are we all just scammers and frauds here?

this thread is about ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE, not SYNESIS...

Take that up with Dub Quote 🙂

That's why I'm glad Techno was mentioned. As soon as I have the chance (meaning: when I actually have time), I'll try to test out the software. Fair enough.

Huh, this is the exact opposite of what I’ve gathered. I’d actually love to see that comment you're talking about—I didn't notice it before, and I can't find it now. Honestly, it feels like you're making it up. Maybe "spitting on them" is too harsh, but you’re definitely being superficial here. You find one single flaw—and for the record, I never claimed Techno was perfect—but instead of critiquing the software itself, you attack the distribution and turn it into this massive issue. I personally know a case where a local repair shop in my city was selling Techno as if they developed it themselves, just to pocket a huge margin. That isn't a failure of the programming team; it's a distribution problem, and those are two completely separate departments. You can't even blame the Head of Distribution if they weren't aware of it. It only came to light once the customer ran into trouble and tracked down the actual company on their own. Even after that, the client stayed with the distributor, just with a different field technician, because the original guys couldn't even handle a basic setup.
So, you’re judging these programs based on whether they hide their company names—even though they aren't exactly keeping them under wraps. You brought up examples where people go out of their way to mask who they are, like VTI hiding suppliers or IvanP masking his own firm. But look at IvanP. You can find everything through a quick DM. Now I know exactly who they are, how many employees they have, when they launched, and I even scored a demo. Sure, it would be better if all that info was public from the jump (I'm with you there), but I don't see it as a dealbreaker. To me, this is just a minor annoyance, not a massive issue. Don't make a mountain out of a molehill.

I’m not saying that’s exactly how it is, but that’s the vibe. Honestly... How do you see it? Are you actually impressed with the access, or...? Do you really think paid databases are inherently better? And do you honestly believe the database is always responsible for how well a program functions?

I can only say that you aren't making any effort to actually get to know who you're talking to. If you did, you wouldn't be asking these kinds of questions. We already agreed on these topics recently, so I have no idea where this sudden doubt is coming from. It's just superficiality, plain and simple.

I was simply checking to see if our views were still aligned... your previous post didn't come across this way, but fine...

Look... you still haven't answered the question. You're just saying whatever suits you.
Anyway, I'm done with this.

I hear you, and you've got a point, though I still don't get why a company would be so allergic to being mentioned in a positive light. Maybe they're just terrified that a single bad review might float to the surface?...

I think it's primarily a trust issue rather than whether the feedback is good or bad... if you aren't prepared to handle criticism, you shouldn't even start a business... I've been burned more than a few times myself, so I tend to be overly cautious... and like I said, it's not exactly in his interest to hawk as many software licenses as possible since he doesn't even need forum ads to move units...

So you recommend them, but only privately. That’s what I don't get—why are people on this forum somehow less reliable than your personal acquaintances? Are we all just scammers and frauds here?

Which part of my sentence "exclusively to my business partners and people I know or have worked with in some capacity..." did you fail to grasp? I don't personally know anyone from this subforum (Business & Finance), nor have I ever worked with anyone here... It doesn't cross my mind to recommend software, an accountant, or even a local mechanic to anyone... What I can offer is my opinion, but providing referrals for software, mechanics, or accountants? I'll happily pass on that...

I could spend days writing to you about my experiences with online recommendations and "internet friends," which might help you understand, but that's not the topic here and quite frankly, I don't want to relive those memories... it just gets my blood pressure up... I've helped plenty of people, both online and in person, and the vast majority couldn't even bother to say "thanks"... meanwhile, I've saved many others a massive amount of stress, money, and time...

All I'll say is that I've been on this forum for a long time (7 years) and out of everyone I've met, there's about 80% of them I never want to hear about again in my life...

Just settle it with Dub

God, these threads...🙄

Terry Johnson3 said:I agree, though you might have been aiming that comment at my response above.

I didn't make an effort to understand what a price bracket was...🤣🤣
Don't you see how you're refusing to acknowledge why my questions were phrased that way? Yet, all you care about is belittling the "level" at which questions are asked and mocking me with that "explaining why the sky is blue" comparison...
So, let me clarify this for you, since you're so bright: my questions were actually regarding non-accounting technical terms like PostgreSQL, Firebird, or MySQL...
not "price brackets"...
