I’m struggling to find the right headline for this, but let me try to lay it out. I know this woman—maybe she’s 28, I don't know exactly—and look, she is stunning. I don't mean just "conventionally attractive," I mean truly, head-turning gorgeous. She has the kind of curves people dream about and a face straight off a Vogue cover. But—and this is the part where the story hits a wall—that is quite literally all she has. No boyfriend, let alone a husband; no college degree... basically, she lacks everything that modern American society tells a young person they "should" have to be considered successful. Yet, everywhere she goes, men are practically tripping over themselves to get her attention. I'm not sure if you see what I'm getting at here.

I met her during a group therapy session we were attending. It was one of those settings where everyone seems to be competing over their accomplishments—this guy was bragging about his career, that woman about her kids, another person about their grad school progress—and then there was her. When it was her turn to sit, she just let her thick hair down and crossed those long, beautiful legs. That was it. 😁

So, the question is: is someone like that actually happy? On one hand, looking that good has to count for something—men certainly notice—and I wouldn't call her stupid, either. She’s actually quite serious, and whenever we had these sessions, she’d offer some genuinely insightful advice. She isn't some vapid, self-absorbed airhead, despite appearances.

What I'm curious about is whether any of you have ever encountered someone like this—someone who possesses nothing to show for themselves except an incredible physical appearance?

You’re lucky if you actually have an interest in group psychotherapy😁

I suppose I agree—her looks alone are probably more than enough for her🙂

I suspect the real issue lies more with the environment surrounding her, which perceives her that way, rather than how she actually is.

Not true. Looks are the first thing to go. I’ll leave you with a quote from a book a close friend gave me—it actually made me stop and think for a second. It goes: Beauty isn't a guarantee of happiness; it's a guarantee of future misery.🙂

It’s a brutal reality when you finally hit rock bottom after spending your whole life relying on nothing but your fading physical appearance. If that's all you have to offer...

🙄
Well, I suppose it goes without saying that these beauties actually have some substance behind those looks 🤷

From what I've seen, how many empty vessels do you actually encounter 🙂

Well, I suppose there isn't much point in lying to her, 🤷
if she's attractive, then she's attractive. 🙂

I’m not jealous. 🙂 It’s just—I honestly can’t wrap my head around why someone that stunning would even bother seeing a psychiatrist.

Peter Phillips32, are you actually offended that I have a thing for doctors? 😁
Because let’s be real—the men on this forum haven't exactly been welcoming ever since I admitted to my little fetish.

True, but they clearly only see her that way...

People like that are usually pretty messed up. Men just see them as sex objects, you've got married creeps hitting on them constantly, and they have to work ten times harder just to prove they aren't just some airhead beauty...and so on.

Well, I suppose both those deemed "unattractive" and those considered merely "average" are simply what they are 🤷

What kind of people—just good enough to be eye candy? Not really. It seems her environment has taught her that she doesn't need to try; just smiling is enough to get by. She doesn't have to be unintelligent or backward, but she clearly struggles to make an impact. It can't be easy for her either, knowing that 99% of the people around her likely just want to use her, whether as a trophy or something else entirely.

Well, look, maybe she's dealing with some deep-seated psychological stuff? Or maybe she's just out in the middle of the woods somewhere... either way, trying to draw conclusions based on these kinds of shallow details is just a guessing game, not actual "analysis."
Peter Phillips32, are you actually offended that I have a thing for doctors? 😁

Not in the slightest.
And hey, I won't feel bad if you eventually realize that little neck brace thing you're wearing isn't just for physical therapy.
because the guys on this forum haven't liked me since I admitted to my fetish.

It’s probably not about the fetish, it’s more about how annoying you are.
Annoying because you're boring.
Boring because... well, you know exactly why.

Oh, please, 🙄
if she is beautiful, she doesn't necessarily have to be dim-witted or naive. And honestly, nobody can take advantage of you unless you let them. 😁
Sure, maybe just smiling is enough. 😂 I mean, what kind of normal parent would tell their child, "You're pretty, so just sit there and smile"? 🙂
There is just so much prejudice against attractive people.
I think I've encountered more brilliant beauties than dumb ones, actually. 🙂

A parent won't, but society sure as hell will. And the worst part? That attitude works well enough for a lot of things early on, so it becomes a habit. That’s exactly where the real trouble starts.

Error,
Beauty doesn't last forever. Honestly, I’d much rather be with a girl who looks average but actually has some brains...
What good is being the most beautiful woman on the planet if there's nothing going on upstairs? Sure, people might turn their heads when she walks by, but nobody is going to want anything more from her than a quick hookup.
That's All.

P.S. I know plenty of people like that, they're everywhere in cities like Chicago...

So, didn't melpy say not that we aren't talking about some imaginary airhead here?

And what if she doesn't have a fancy degree, a husband, or a boyfriend? Does that mean she has nothing going for her besides being attractive? Since when did those become the only criteria?
Clearly, she’s got substance and heart if she actually recognizes her issues and wants to fix them—which is why she’s going to group therapy, I assume. That shows more character than most "successful" people with Ivy League degrees ever possess.

Looking at how the women on this thread are reacting, it’s pretty obvious who is actually beautiful and who is just living in the shadows, bitter and waiting for her looks to fade so she can finally feel superior. Then they'll all start showing their true colors... pathetic. 👎

Yes, I did say she isn't delusional.

Look, I don't have a college degree, and I probably won't ever have a husband... so all I have left is to take care of myself and maintain my appearance. 🤷

It's the same with her; she's smart and has plenty of sense, yet nowadays society acts like you're somehow incomplete if you don't have a family and a diploma. 😕 I don't see it that way, but then again, most people do.

Is anyone who starts therapy actually happy? Or do they start because they're miserable and want to change that?

Why would people go to therapy just to list things they're proud of? Is being proud of your kids, your job, your degree, or having great hair really the point? You go there to talk about your issues.

If you don't have the job, the kids, the degree, or the looks, what do you even lean on? How are you better or worse than the person who looks amazing but is sitting in a therapist's office because their life is a mess?

Or maybe you just think she shouldn't be in therapy at all, because you assume beautiful people are automatically happy.
