There's plenty of that stuff out there too, without all the hassle

It’s freezing out there, and honestly, I'm a total wimp when it comes to the cold. I mean, sure, I could probably power through it if I had to, but

where on earth is anyone gonna be "forced" to hang out and entertain me?

Are you feeling a little too comfortable there 😁

I've definitely been through something similar myself. But honestly? I feel like you're taking a shot at me here... why's that?

Not at all... I'm really not sure why you'd think that.
What I mean is—you just seem way too comfortable with everything. I mean, life requires some kind of movement or struggle, even when things get dark enough to consider suicide. It’s just your perspective that feels off to me... 😉

okay,

just imagine I'm finally walking out of prison after doing ten years on the inside.
how does someone even start reintegrating back into society?

I’m basically living in total isolation here.

I find myself walking out onto the balcony—since I can still move around, at least—just threatening to jump.

I just need something, anything, to spark some kind of reaction, and I’m dying to know what that might be.

Look, I don't actually want to die; I’d just be faking it.
I just really need someone to look out for me, to show even a tiny bit of care
and for something, I don't know, to actually fucking happen...

Will I just get wiped out, or will I actually get a little attention
and maybe some various pills?

edit: I've got good health insurance.🙂

but wait, do you even give enough attention to yourself? like, do you actually love yourself?

Honestly? You should just go ahead and do it... who are you trying to intimidate? Me? 😁

It always cracks me up when someone stands on a rooftop and starts screaming that they're going to jump.

Like, fine, then do it! Why should anyone care if you're just being an idiot?

Right? 🤷

Seriously, if you're feeling lonely, or craving some attention, or just need people around—there are so many better, more productive ways to find that than throwing yourself off a building... For crying out loud.

It’s always the same thing, isn't it? "Oh, my life is falling apart, nothing is working out, I might as well end it all..." Hahhaa.. It's such a cop-out. Taking the easy way out is never the answer; please, just try to stay with us today. 🤷

That's why I'm telling you, everyone, don't just shut yourselves away from the world. Reach out! Connect with others, hit the gym, find a hobby to unwind... That's what actually heals the soul. It acts as a pressure valve for everything you're feeling, and suddenly, those dark, reckless thoughts won't seem like an option anymore...

I would walk out onto the balcony (since I can still move) and threaten to jump.

Something would have to happen, and I want to see what that is.

I don't actually want to die; I would just be faking it.
I just want someone to take care of me and show even a shred of attention.

The police would show up, then the paramedics, and they’d haul you off to a psych ward. Depending on where you live, you'd stay there for a few days. If you sign the papers agreeing to treatment, they'll let you stay; if you refuse, they'll just send you home because they'll realize you were just putting on an act...
And once again, you gain nothing.
I assume everyone has at least one friend... look, New Year's is coming up, just go out and enjoy yourselves... it's better than ending up in a hospital.
If things are truly that bad, you don't need to fake a suicide attempt—just go get help.

@brighttiger41: I honestly feel like saying stuff like that could land you in some serious legal trouble 🙂

but seriously, I’d be yelling down at you just because
"thanks man, thanks for actually saying a single word to me, because honestly, that's all I was looking for," and then I'd invite you up to my place for some coffee and cookies

and you'd probably just turn me down. THAT IS STRAIGHT UP TRASH BEHAVIOR!!!!

@driftinggull21: okay, someone please explain to me how you even start meeting people? like, give me the blueprint, please.
if I just go sit alone in a Starbucks, everyone's gonna give me the weird looks
if I just walk up to a total stranger on the street—I'm basically risking getting pepper sprayed in the face

can someone please walk me through some actual techniques? please.

I mean... I don't know, like, are you going to college? Do you have Facebook? Or maybe old friends? Family? Siblings? A girlfriend?

- Facebook? Nope, not happening
- MSN? Forget about it
- Cell phone? No way
- An old friend... honestly, they’re just as socially stuck in neutral as I am.
It's probably best if things stay exactly how they are on my own terms, just staying put at home
- Out of my entire extended family, there's only one other person actually in my age group, and even then, they aren't even living in the same part of the country
- I'm an only child, so that's that
- I'm headed off to college, but let's be real, that's just a bubble—it doesn't mean I'm actually meeting people outside of campus life

So how am I supposed to start meeting people? Please, explain that to me.
If I go to a coffee shop by myself, people are going to give me weird looks.

You aren't the only person on the planet without a social life; surely you have at least one friend out there. Even if you haven't spoken in a while, just give them a call.
It isn't like you're going to meet someone by jumping off a roof.😉

If I just approach a random stranger outside, I'm risking getting slapped in the face.

I definitely wouldn't recommend that approach.😁

Look, what you’re talking about is much more likely to run afoul of the law than anything else.🙏

Look, you don't need to scream that from the rooftops; you could just head into the kitchen and say it over a cup of coffee...

You can mention it to someone daily, bring up your observations regarding their lack of attention or how they aren't showing up for you, and just talk about it... You don't need to yell it from a roof like some crazed bird.😕

For crying out loud, if you were my friend, I’d tell you, "Come on, man, get it together..." But if you haven't told me what's eating at you despite us being together every single day—and then suddenly you start "threatening" to throw yourself off a roof—well, fine, I might as well tell you to jump off your head too.👍

Rebecca Morris2 are you even a girl? 😁

Man, I don't have any friends. I’ve got nobody to talk to, nobody to vent to 🙂 which is why you guys are here—my digital buddies from the computer
who basically assume I'm looking to cause trouble when I haven't even thought about it, let alone intended to 😢 screw you guys
