The opening post says, "let's accept this state of affairs without emotion."

If "without emotion" is meant to describe the way we should "accept," then I clearly misunderstood your sentence—unlike you, apparently—so I’m asking the author to clarify what they actually meant.

But if "without emotion" is describing the "state of affairs" itself, then I understood the original post perfectly fine, and I’m sticking to my guns.

I am unsure who misunderstood, perhaps myself, but my impression was that the author meant we should remain unemotional regarding the fact that life is fleeting—suggesting we shouldn't be overly dramatic about the various things that happen to us which are simply beyond our control.
That was my interpretation. 🤷
