Well, he wasn't even older than me. But the point remains: I keep running into this. That awful sense of rejection.

I'm ready to break his arm right now; just tell me where he is.
And you aren't pathetic. Very few people have the guts to get up every single morning and say, "Alright, here we go again. Life sucks today, but whatever. I have a right to be happy, and by God, I'm going to grab that happiness and make it mine."

Is every new day really just that—a chance...
You could spend it staring at a computer screen, or you could be out at a bar with some guy who insults you and dumps you...
You won't get anything out of the computer, but at a bar (or wherever he dumped you), at least you experienced some kind of emotion. Some emotion is better than none at all, or worse, a fake emotion.

fine, thanks

And how am I supposed to know if it was a distraction? He told me. Whether he was lying or telling the truth is something we could debate endlessly, but how would I ever truly know? 🤷 Speaking plainly, it doesn't seem to add up. But if you look at what might be driving all this—complexes, ego, the need to prove something—then why couldn't it be true? There are plenty of reasons to believe him, but I won't dwell on that; it isn't the point. Besides, why would he lie about something like that? No... what's actually bothering me is this sense of rejection.

okay
If I were in your shoes, I’d try to find a balance between your online persona—where you're super blunt—and your real-life self, which is almost too reserved... there's just such a massive gap between the two.
If you brought a bit more of that Royal Jelly energy into your daily life, people wouldn't be able to walk all over you quite so easily. In a situation like this, you might have gotten a different reaction—one that wasn't based on feeling humiliated or dealing with nonsense. Just snap out of it and tell people where they stand; it would do wonders for your confidence, and others would see you aren't just some pushover they can treat however they want...

In any case, I think working on that would really help your self-esteem, which would eventually help with that feeling of rejection—you just wouldn't feel it as intensely.

It wasn't just indifference; he was outright disrespectful. He actually used my feelings to kill his own boredom, playing the big shot in front of people or using me to feed his own ego. Is there anything worse than pouring your entire soul into someone—being ready to give up everything for them—only to have them laugh in your face? Isn't that enough to make anyone lose their mind? At first, he was just plain rude, but eventually, he started acting like he felt sorry for me. Like he pitied me. All those talks we had? They weren't about connection; they were because he felt bad seeing how broken I was. Maybe he even felt a flicker of guilt for causing it. Honestly, it feels like a mess of deep-seated complexes and desperate self-validation, and once again, I'm the one left picking up the pieces. I suppose he’s paying for it now too, but when you hit rock bottom like this, there's nowhere left to fall. There simply isn't. And please, don't give me that cliché about how "I deserve someone who appreciates me." Maybe that's true, but it doesn't change the fact that I absolutely loathe this feeling of being discarded. I don't know where it comes from, but there is no other trauma, no other breakdown, no other psychological spiral that compares to being tossed aside. I hate being rejected.!!!!!!! 👎

But you know deep down there is, right? You’re just hurting, so it feels like nothing else matters right now. It’s like, because you always feel left out, any little rejection hits way harder than some random "brush off" would hit someone who isn't as sensitive as you. Nobody actually likes being treated like that. And I guess Drake made a pretty good point when he asked if you’ve ever blown someone else off? I mean, you definitely have, probably, but maybe your lack of empathy just made you miss how much someone else was hurting because of you.

Maybe try to find a balance between what you want and what you can actually handle? Like, try to be uniquely awesome in a positive way instead of just... whatever this is. Control the chaos, let people see the real you, and stop trying so hard to force your "perfection" on everyone. Let them notice it themselves. If they respect you for it, then yeah, take that chance and build up your own self-esteem. But if they don't, just try not to be super harsh about it, because karma usually comes back around.

Btw, I think you're being a bit too hard on the guy, and honestly, he doesn't seem like a total villain in all this. He was pretty upfront from the jump that he wasn't looking for a relationship, which I get felt rude to you, but still. Later on, you said he actually talked to you and found you interesting, so maybe he just wanted to be friends? I don't really buy that he was just playing games in front of his buddies. He shouldn't be held responsible for you catching feelings for something where he already set boundaries. You didn't say anything about him using you for money or anything, so I kind of think you're just calling him a jerk because your feelings are hurt.

Ugh, I’ve been exactly where you are. Seriously, don't even waste your breath trying to fix things with him. All he’s ever going to offer you is more heartache. There’s just zero love there... my advice? Fight fire with fire. 😉

BINGO 👍You hit the nail on the head; people treat me however they please👍 and I have zero intention of changing my ways.👍I'm perfectly capable of giving anyone the finger, online or in person,👍 but unfortunately, I still have a soft spot for certain people.😍

Fine, maybe I did brush someone off by being indifferent.🤷 But what does that have to do with anything? Don't worry, I'm not bothered by my lack of empathy.☕

I'm not perfect. As for others, I doubt they are either... ☕

Where did I say he made it clear at the beginning? Where did I call him a jerk? I have no interest in commenting on the rest of this nonsense. ☕

How can you feel rejected when you weren't even truly part of anything to begin with? Don't play the victim in your own head or start hoarding traumas; just take a step back and think clearly next time. Obsessing over people when there's no future in sight isn't healthy.

You're truly in deep trouble here.
There’s a thread over there about why nobody likes you, and right here, it's just this guy telling you off.
It’s all connected. That’s just who you are. If you don't change, you'll be opening these same types of threads every single year until the day you die.

That’s exactly the catch—the people you find it hard to be firm with are the ones who affect you most, so their behavior matters more to you. That's why you really need to hold them accountable—based on what they actually deserve!

I was in a similar spot once—being softer toward someone because I genuinely cared—and they kind of took advantage of that... but honestly, you can only hide your pride for so long. Once it finally bubbled up, I let them have it and walked away, even though it wasn't easy.
Some people just demand way too much emotion from us while being totally incapable of treating us fairly—and when that happens, you just have to walk away.

Once you actually learn how to love yourself, everyone else starts following suit.

The way things are going right now, you’re basically broadcasting to the world that you're desperate—and honestly, that's why people keep treating you like that.

You really need to take a step back, focus on your own headspace, and find some inner strength and self-love before you try to move on to anything else.

Trust me, once you do that, the right people—real friends and actual romantic partners—will naturally drift into your life.

So just keep your chin up and stop feeling sorry for yourself.😉

Let's stick to the topic! — keeping things on track, right?
