I recently had an appointment with my OB-GYN—she’s honestly wonderful. Even though she works within the public health system, her bedside manner is so incredible that her waiting room is perpetually packed... I actually saw my first doctor privately, where there was zero wait time, but she didn't have half the warmth this woman possesses. I genuinely look forward to every checkup because she has such infinite patience for all my questions... and always has this calming way of addressing every little anxiety I throw at her. Because of that, pregnant patients clearly get a massive advantage over everyone else; the moment I present my prenatal paperwork, I’m practically ushered right in... it’s almost like it's written in BIG letters on the door... but the comments from the other "regular" patients are just exhausting... as if they aren't just as important as someone who's expecting... like, can't we all just sit down and wait? We have plenty of time... I overheard an older woman snap at a young, early-stage expectant mother today—apparently, she felt slighted just because the girl's bump isn't even showing yet—telling her to sit down and stop trying to cut in line... then another woman chimed in about how pregnant women are so fragile and can't handle anything, bragging about how she worked right up until her due date without anyone giving her any special treatment... the poor girl turned bright red and shuffled over to the chair next to me, probably thinking we were in this together... I just calmly replied to the lady, "Ma'am, nobody is asking for your opinion right now..."
