Ronald Lopez10 said:Me too! Reading your words actually makes me feel a bit ashamed, because my issues are probably much smaller than yours, yet I am still desperately waiting for this to be over. I've even seriously considered the idea of having only one child.
I can't tell you how many times I've heard people say that pregnancy is this "wonderful, blissful state" that "completes them as a woman," or that they're "enjoying every single minute because it goes by so fast." Well, if only it actually went that fast!
And then I read all these articles about childbirth and the postpartum period, and I honestly wish Mother Nature had designed the whole thing to be a little more elegant and dignified.
Don't get me wrong, the baby is very much wanted, but everything leading up to it (aside from the sex, obviously) doesn't feel remotely fulfilling, beautiful, or sublime like everyone likes to claim.

So, let people type away or judge me if they want to; I can't change my actual experience, and I'm certainly not going to apologize for how I truly feel.

Honestly, why would anyone judge you?😁 I think a lot of women actually dread being pregnant. Personally, I'd probably hate it too if I were dealing with morning sickness every single day...
Then again, maybe your next pregnancy will be totally different—maybe no symptoms at all—and then you might change your mind.

copperdrifter5 said:OF COURSE!!! I push whenever I can; if the rules say I have priority, I’m using it.
The other day I was at the DMV. I'm standing there in line waiting for the clerk, minding my own business, when this aggressive cow just barges in, claiming her car is "next" and she should go before me. 🙄
I wasn't having it. I told her I wasn't moving because I was in line, and since we're on the subject, I mentioned I'm pregnant and should be prioritized—even though I wasn't actually cutting, I was waiting my turn properly, and there wasn't even a crowd. Then this bitch actually backs down and goes, "Oh, if you're pregnant, then you go ahead" (except I wasn't cutting, *she* was), and then she has the nerve to snap that she never used pregnancy to CUT in line. 😲😲😲😲 CUTTING???? I gave her the craziest look, shouted "CUTTING????" back at her, and gave her death stares for what felt like an eternity. Seriously, people are animals. Women can be such wolves to one another. One second she's trying to shove me, the next she's acting like a bitter hag. I LOST IT.
People are trash. Use every advantage you have to get ahead of the line, because if you have the right, use it.

What an absolute idiot. 🤣
What kind of logic is that, trying to act like you're skipping when you were clearly just standing in line before her?
Women can be seriously difficult sometimes...

It seems like you can't win—it's wrong if you do things, and it's just as wrong if you don't while you're pregnant.

You can never truly please everyone, I suppose.

I’ve been reflecting quite a bit on our recent discussions regarding the current state of the economy, particularly how the rising cost of living seems to be hitting middle-class families harder than most analysts would care to admit. I remember back when I was first starting out in Chicago, my rent felt manageable even with a modest entry-level salary, but seeing the way inflation is driving up basic necessities today makes me wonder if that kind of stability is becoming a relic of the past. It feels as though we are all collectively bracing for an impact that hasn't fully arrived yet. Amy Green4 made an interesting point earlier about how much of this stems from supply chain disruptions, and while I see the logic there, I can't help but feel there's a deeper systemic issue at play within our financial institutions. I recall a conversation I had with a former colleague who worked in banking; he suggested that the sheer volume of liquidity in the system has created a bubble that we are all currently floating in, waiting for the inevitable pop. lonefox11, I noticed you mentioned feeling a sense of dread regarding the housing market, and I have to say, I find myself nodding along with your sentiment. It isn't just about the price of a home anymore; it's about the fundamental shift in what ownership actually means for the next generation of Americans. If we continue on this trajectory, the "American Dream" might become little more than a nostalgic concept we discuss over dinner. copperdrifter5, your perspective on the job market was equally sobering. While the unemployment numbers look decent on paper, the reality of wage stagnation tells a much more complicated story. It reminds me of those periods of economic transition we saw in the late nineties, where everything looked prosperous on the surface, yet many people were struggling to make ends meet behind closed doors. We need to look closer at these discrepancies before we settle into a false sense of security.

It's honestly exhausting when people open threads like this one; you just see these kinds of topics popping up and realize how much time is being wasted by people who clearly don't have a clue what they're talking about.

It is truly disheartening when someone possesses a mind so warped that they can reduce the profound sanctity of pregnancy, a mother, and her unborn child to nothing more than tawdry comparisons to pornography and prostitution.
Honestly, I don't see why anyone would waste their breath worrying about his physical condition or his inability to stitch things up properly.

Well, you find all sorts of characters and topics on these forums, I suppose. 🙂

For me, the real frustrations were:
- The unsolicited advice: "Get all the sleep you can now, because you won't get any later." 🙄
- The condescending remarks: "Just wait until the baby actually arrives..." 🙄
- Having to run to the bathroom every five minutes—I feel like I've practically scouted out every single public restroom in downtown Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. 😳
- That constant, nagging anxiety over whether everything will be okay with the baby.
- And the reality that my body doesn't feel like mine anymore; before I eat, drink, or even move, I have to pause and consider if it's allowed and how it might affect the little one. 😵

Seriously, this is just moronic. What, am I supposed to stockpile sleep in my pantry and save it for when I actually need it? 🤦🙄🙂

It honestly drives me up the wall how my mom has been prepping me to be "the fat one" since the second I found out I was pregnant. It started with her basically telling me that I’ll finally have an excuse to pack on the pounds, and then it turned into this constant poking and prodding every few days about how much weight I've put on. We were even shopping for coats together the other day, and she’s insisting I need to size up two notches because of the "inevitable" weight gain—all while acting totally baffled that my bump isn't huge yet, unlike some lady she knows from her yoga class who looks like she's carrying a bowling ball. Since she gained like 70 pounds during her own pregnancy, she’s dead set on the idea that I’m following the exact same path... The first thing out of her mouth when she sees me is usually some comment about how I haven't gotten big enough yet. It’s just non-stop talk about pounds, pounds, pounds! As if being pregnant is just this endless cycle of overeating and ballooning up. And then I start remembering all those nasty things she used to say about other women's pregnancies—how "grossly obese" they looked, almost like she was looking at something diseased rather than just a person having a baby...

And it’s not just her—other people constantly feel the need to judge my belly or my chest, questioning why I’m not hungry or shoving high-calorie junk in my face. Meanwhile, I’m actually feeling pretty much the same as before, except I can't stand certain stuff anymore, so I've cut out the junk food entirely.

Then you get these "concerned" comments about how I’m definitely going to start craving greasy, fatty food any minute now. And honestly? Most of the people saying this are the ones who struggle with their weight normally, as if being pregnant gave them a free pass to just binge eat without judgment?! It feels super awkward to even think that, but I don't see why else they'd be making these comments.

Oh man, my mom is exactly the same way—I swear she’s constantly checking my weight every single time we talk, acting all worried about whether I'm gaining enough... meanwhile, I've got this pregnancy bump and my weight gain is actually right on track according to my doctor. Every time we catch up, she’s immediately grilling me about what I've eaten or offering to pack me some Tupperware meals to take with me. 😵 But honestly? I have zero appetite. My one big craving so far was just mandarins, and even those are starting to lose their charm... it's actually kind of exhausting!
And don't even get me started on those annoying little comments people make, like "just wait until the baby arrives..." To me, those feel like straight-up threats! It's such nonsense to say that to a pregnant woman—whatever I say, they just hit me with that "well, you'll see how it really goes" attitude. It’s as if nothing will ever go the way my partner and I actually planned it in our heads. Like, oh, the crib won't stay organized, the baby won't sleep in their bassinet, they won't sleep at all... suddenly everyone decides it's better to do things "their way" instead. Honestly, sometimes I just want to leave the hospital with the baby and head straight to a deserted island in the middle of nowhere just so everyone will finally leave me alone!

Oh man, looks like there are more of us!🙂

It drives me absolutely crazy when people use those "just you wait until the baby comes" threats. To me, they literally sound like threats! Like, why on earth would you say that to a pregnant woman? It's such nonsense. No matter what I say, it's always some variation of "well, just you wait," as if everything won't go exactly the way my partner and I have planned out in our heads. Like, oh, the baby won't sleep in the crib, or won't use the swaddles, or just won't sleep at all... okay, fine! Honestly, I'd rather just walk out of the hospital and head straight to a deserted island in Hawaii so everyone would finally just leave me alone!

Ugh, tell me about it. This is easily one of my biggest pet peeves! First, it was the whole "just you wait until you're pregnant" thing, and since I haven't been pulling any crazy stunts lately, they've pushed the "prophecy" back to my actual due date. And then there's the constant attempt to scare the men—you know, telling them how much of a whirlwind things get once the hormones hit, or how the baby will never stop crying, or heaven forbid you have pets—they act like the animals are going to turn into monsters overnight! It feels like people just say that stuff to boost their own egos, honestly.

Another thing that really gets under my skin is how people I used to be totally casual with suddenly act like they need to know every single detail of my life. And because I'm not married to the dad, they start throwing these incredibly "creative" and nosy questions my way, too.🙂

- What’s the gender?
- It's a girl.
- Another one?

And then comes the inevitable:
- Oh boy.
- Better luck next time.
- Again?
- So, what's the plan?
- Honestly, it doesn't matter.

Or they just stare at me like I've got some contagious plague. My neighbor actually came close to tears when he heard we were having another girl.
A girl is worth less. You should just get an abortion until you finally have a son, just like they do in India.
I am such a disgrace with this terrible womb of mine that only produces daughters.

How can people be so incredibly cruel and hateful while I am literally carrying a new life inside me?

Amy Green4, look, even if it wasn't about sex, it would still be something else entirely—don't you worry about that for a second.

Some people are just straight-up trash, honestly.🙂 Just try not to let their noise get under your skin. It’s always the shallowest minds who constantly have someone or something to gossip about—it's like they can't help themselves. They totally remind me of those nosy old ladies back in small-town America who think it's their full-time job to stick their noses into everyone else's business.

And I mean, let's be real, you can't exactly go walking around the US trying to hide every single little detail about being pregnant, especially when it's basically the center of your whole universe right now.🙂

Ugh, honestly, those people who always have to ask those weirdly specific questions—and then act all offended when you tell them it's a girl—really belong in a special corner of hell... I mean, what is their problem? In my case, I'm expecting a boy, but last time when it was a girl, it was like they felt compelled to say something rude, especially about the gender... and now that it’s a boy, every time someone gets overly excited about it, I just feel like giving them a little nudge. At the end of the day, it's my baby—it doesn't matter to me which it is, as long as they are healthy, happy, and we raise them right!!
Oh man... the morning sickness has been kicking my butt for two months already, and I still have three more to go, plus I can't even look at a piece of toast without feeling a bit 🙄 and then there's that comment about how "he'll be hairy." Okay, wow, hairy and dark-haired? Well, yeah, I am too—so what else would he be? Honestly, comments like that don't help one bit, acting like it's some big deal. I'd be perfectly happy just as long as the baby is healthy and whole, and if only this nausea would finally leave me alone....

Oh, honey, don't let it get to you. Just remind those male brains that it's their equipment that's failing to produce a boy, so it has absolutely nothing to do with the woman.🙂

Otherwise, that mindset is just straight-up revolting.

I've actually decided that for my next pregnancy, I'm not finding out the gender until the baby is born, because it's a completely irrelevant detail. Let the small-minded busybodies deal with themselves.

I don't even know what to say besides "congrats" or "that's wonderful" once you mention the baby's gender.
I have one boy at home and I'm waiting on the second, but I really, really wanted a girl. Almost everyone knows that, and thankfully, nobody has made any stupid comments. At the end of the day... it doesn't matter. As long as the baby is healthy.

The sheer anxiety surrounding childbirth.
I honestly don't know why I'm even dwelling on this now, especially when the memory of that intense pain resurfaces—it makes me feel like I'd gladly pay someone just to knock me out or end it all. 😲
I can't help but wonder if I'll end up screaming; I’m terrified of losing control, much like how I was whimpering at six centimeters during my last experience.
Will I actually be able to get an epidural, and more importantly, will it even work when it matters most?
What if I end up with a medical team that isn't up to the task, and they end up mishandling both me and the baby?
And what if the whole process drags on far longer than anyone anticipated?
Why on earth didn't I take better care of myself while I had the chance? 🤦

The fact that I can't even get an epidural at the hospital here in my own city.

I honestly don't know how much more of my monthly tax dollars I can hand over to a system that fails to provide basic, consistent standards of care across every single facility when it actually matters.😠

I am just so incredibly fed up with this country. Truly. Once I deliver this baby, I’m out—you all can deal with this mess without me.

Honestly, I’m just so over the constant excitement everyone shows because I’m having a boy. Neither my husband nor I actually care about the gender; we just want a healthy baby, period. But apparently, it’s such a big deal because we’re getting an "heir" (which, by the way, a girl definitely isn't 🙄), and suddenly Dad is some master craftsman who needs an apprentice
.
It also really gets under my skin when people keep bringing up our cats. They make all these comments about how we'll have to deep-clean everything once the baby arrives, as if we don't clean at all! It's not like our cats poop on the dining table or carry around every disease known to man 🙄. I guess they think we should just kick them out onto the street 🙄.

Then there's the diet thing. Because of my GD, I’m being super careful and avoiding sweets, but my father-in-law keeps telling me I'm being ridiculous and that I'm just being picky—all while shoving food I can't even eat right under my nose.

And I am just so tired of hearing the whole "Back in our day..." routine.

Plus, it really bugs me when they address me as "Fatty."

Ehhh Glo, I just got into a massive blowout with my own grandpa because he had the nerve to call me fat... then I asked my husband how he can even bear sitting next to me when I’m clearly getting bigger by the day... and he actually had the audacity to ask me that right there at the dinner table..
My mother-in-law is in the hospital right now, pregnant and feeling absolutely miserable with all the nausea and vomiting, so she's on an IV drip. We were talking about how she'll probably head home tomorrow, and then he goes and says this to us... basically that she's got it all in her head and isn't actually sick, like she's just making up drama in the hospital.

Anyway, I’m living with my grandma and grandpa right now.

And honestly, I won't even get into the whole Epi situation; people say you can just grab some whenever you need it in Indianapolis, but I'm not buying it for a second.

Plus, my husband is driving me absolutely insane lately 😢

Well, I suppose there are other options nearby, but I’m hesitant because they either come with terrible stories about the staff, or they can't even guarantee that an anesthesiologist will actually be available. It's a bit of a toss-up, maybe they will, maybe they won't 🙄, and honestly, that's a risk I just don't feel comfortable taking. In my hometown, that's the only hospital we have. Word is, the maternity ward team is actually quite decent, but man, they are just short on anesthesiologists.
The safest bet for me would probably be driving a few hours out to Washington, D.C. Or maybe Seattle, though I don't have any family or friends out there.
There is also the possibility of pulling some strings; I'd actually be willing to pay an anesthesiologist to be there with me if necessary, since it clearly doesn't work any other way around here.
I'll see how things go.
Right now, I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed, and I'm really trying my best to manage a panic attack. Throughout this entire pregnancy, I've never once felt this uncertain about something as routine as getting an epidural.

Glo, I totally get why that over-the-top enthusiasm about having a son gets on my nerves too. Honestly, I’d love to just tell people to tone it down when they come over acting like that.

Ugh, I tried the epidural too, but it barely lasted 45 minutes. No idea why, but they told me at Washington, D.C. General Hospital that I was only allowed two injections total. So, you get two little breaks of about 45 minutes each, and then comes the fun part 😬

Forget the epidural!
