blueraven4 said:Ugh, I tried the epidural too, but it barely lasted 45 minutes. No idea why, but they told me at Washington, D.C. General Hospital that I was only allowed two injections total. So, you get two little breaks of about 45 minutes each, and then comes the fun part 😬

Forget the epidural!

I don't know, pretty much every woman I've talked to who had one seems to swear by it, 🤷 including my own aunt. Not a single one of them said it was useless, unnecessary, or that the relief didn't last long enough.
But honestly, that's almost beside the point.
What really gets to me is how frustrated I am that they took away my right to make my own choice just because the administration is totally incompetent. They forced this decision on me because the entire healthcare system is broken—money is being wasted on God knows what, with corruption everywhere, while the actual patients are left completely screwed.

To hell with them!

As for me, I’ll find a way to get that epidural, whether it's through official channels or otherwise. I don't care.

I totally get why you're frustrated. I was just trying to say that the epi isn't even that great anyway 😉 I have no clue why my dose didn't last longer, but I distinctly remember from the training they said it should last 45-60 minutes and come in two doses. It’s basically just that little breather before things get intense—that moment where you can actually catch your breath. My session went on forever, so I really needed that break. Honestly, if only the epi lasted until the final buzzer, haha! But nope.

Look, I know you were just coming from a good place, and I really didn't mean to sound like I was getting all worked up about it. My apologies! 🙂

I have to admit, I was just a bit overwhelmed by that news today. It really caught me off guard, and honestly, I’m still trying to wrap my head around everything. I guess I just need a little more time to process it all before I can really make sense of it.

Me? Or maybe Jay?
I’d say me, first and foremost.
We’ve started playing matchmaker for each other, so we’ll just see where things go, I guess.
I think I’ve finally settled down a little bit.

I honestly don't know why I'm even dwelling on this now, especially when the memory of that intense pain resurfaces—it makes me feel like I'd gladly pay someone just to knock me out or end it all. 😲
I can't help but wonder if I'll end up screaming; I’m terrified of losing control, much like how I was whimpering at six centimeters during my last experience.
Will I actually be able to get an epidural, and more importantly, will it even work when it matters most?
What if I end up with a medical team that isn't up to the task, and they end up mishandling both me and the baby?
And what if the whole process drags on far longer than anyone anticipated?
Why on earth didn't I take better care of myself while I had the chance? 🤦

😁 you were perfectly comfortable just being where you were.

I swear, irresponsible people are honestly the absolute worst.
So they invite us over without even a heads-up that their kid has lice. Seriously?
And of course, who exactly is going to sweep them all up?
Ugh, seriously?! Now I actually have to deal with this crap too... lucky for me I’m stuck at home with nothing better to do.
And those people are supposed to be our "good friends"!!!!
I'm seriously losing my mind here...
Look, if your kid has an ear infection, you don't go inviting people over and you definitely don't go visiting anyone else... seriously. Good grief—some people really don't think things through.

It’s starting to get on my nerves. Every time I mention I'm pregnant, about a third of people immediately ask if we’re buying a house. Like, what? We live in a rental with a huge master bedroom and a spacious living room. I don't get why they care so much—is it because the baby won't have its own room? As if babies sleep in separate rooms anyway. Or is it just because we don't own the place? I honestly don't see what's missing here, and it leaves me feeling confused every single time someone asks. Buying a house specifically for a baby was never even on our radar.
My mother-in-law already made a comment about how it's good I'm home now so I can "peacefully" browse real estate listings. We're exhausted from constantly explaining that no, we aren't looking to take out a massive mortgage that lasts until retirement. We want to save up and buy something in a few years when the loan amount isn't so overwhelming. Now, I just tell her yeah, we're looking at everything online all the time. 😁

I’ve started being pretty upfront about being pregnant. It’s not like I’m running around announcing it to everyone just for a laugh—it’s more that if the topic comes up or if it feels right, I just say it.🤣
And then you get those comments like, "Really? Because you don't look pregnant at all!!" Like... hello? Is there nothing between getting a positive test and actually giving birth? It’s a whole process, and honestly, for the first three or four months, you often don't even have a bump yet...

Yeah, it’s like your stomach just pops out of nowhere once you get pregnant. 🤣

The rumors have started circulating that I’m expecting twins, mostly because my stomach has gotten so incredibly large lately. Just yesterday, my neighbor actually pulled me aside to ask if it was true, since everyone seems to be talking about it.
I’m currently at 38 weeks. If I were actually carrying twins, how much bigger do you think I would look?

Honestly, nothing’s really getting under my skin right now. I don't even care about those comments when I talk about what I'm wearing, like, "Oh, you always end up getting the opposite of what you wanted"—wtf? I never even said what I wanted or if I had a preference, but frankly, I couldn't care less. As for the commentary about our plans, how long it took us, or whether it was "man enough"... I'm totally zen. Nothing touches me.

What really gets under my skin right now is when people comment on my weight loss with that worried look on their faces. If someone actually asks if I’m skipping meals, I swear I might lose it. I get that they mean well, but it just makes me feel guilty, like I have to start defending myself or explaining that I'm fine.

What gets under my skin more than anything else is that relentless, constant nasal congestion that just refuses to clear up. It’s absolutely exhausting.

Only pet owners will truly understand this... ;D
I'm not even talking about family here—they usually realize it isn't wise to ask—but rather random acquaintances.
If they find out you have a cat, it doesn't take more than five seconds before they start rambling about "that disease"—which they can't even name, of course—that cats supposedly carry.
I know I have antibodies for toxoplasmosis, so let me just say that if it were actually as common as 90% of people think, most children would die before birth.
I understand the good intentions, but honestly, does your very first question really have to be about the potentially lethal diseases my pets might transmit?
It makes me want to tell them all the things the random strangers at the subway station could pass on to me—and the list is significantly longer.

Furthermore, there is the inevitable "what will you do with the dogs." As if they were some outdated piece of furniture we're getting rid of because we no longer have room for the crib.
I simply respond that if they don't like the baby or if there are allergies, they'll be put up for adoption.
That is the threshold where you stop feeling the need to explain to irrelevant people that dogs aren't just biological placeholders for children and can go now. Family is the priority. Period.

And finally, the "is it a girl or a boy so I know what color clothes to buy" question.
I told them that anatomy doesn't dictate a child's favorite color, nor does it determine the color of a onesie. 😁
When my friends are putting together baby clothes, I couldn't care less if it’s pink, blue, or green. I am just grateful I don't have to spend ridiculous amounts of money on something they will outgrow after two wears; the color interests me no more than whether there is a bunny or a teddy bear printed on it.

A friend of mine was expecting a daughter, and everyone was buying her pink things. In the end, the "daughter" arrived with testicles, so his ego wasn't bruised by being dressed in pink. 😁

You just tell them, "Oh, nothing much—they're going straight into the chili pot," and you just sit there watching their faces😬

Nobody’s even asking about the animals anymore... people just assume we're all about kids and pets now

Nice. 🙏
Maybe mention the stew is for a baby shower, so they won't volunteer themselves.
