I had a total meltdown yesterday.
I basically told everyone that if they try to tell me I can't a) pick up my baby who just started walking,
b) take a bath,
c) get stressed out (seriously, give me a break, I'm not doing that),
d) or sit, stand, and walk around like a normal human being,
things are going to get ugly.

Yesterday, my mother looked at my husband and said, "You know, you don't really seem to care about her; we're all telling her what not to do, but you just sit there silent."

Listen, if you think I shouldn't be doing something, why don't you step in and help? It’s so easy to just bark orders and say "don't do that," while the kids just have to figure it out themselves—let them drown, let them fall, let them break for all I care.

Edit—my husband stays quiet, but he actually helps. These people are just talking nonsense. I'm not asking for help, and I'm definitely not looking for "smart" advice. My husband gets it; he knows there's no point in lecturing me on things he knows I absolutely have to do.

The rest of the world doesn't know yet, so I can't really get worked up about it (not 😁) but my mother-in-law has started acting incredibly patronizing whenever pregnancy comes up. It's gotten to the point where I can barely follow what she's saying. I usually hate being coddled, and she’s always been one to baby people, but this has become extreme. :/

"Wait, are you ten weeks along?" 😍

I'm not pregnant anymore, but I still find myself scrolling through this thread every now and then. Your post is absolute GOLD!!

Honestly, what’s killing me most is how I’m constantly getting stains on everything I eat. Since my gut is expanding faster than my patience, I can't even lean in close enough to the table without food flying everywhere and landing right on my shirt 😬

Meanwhile, my husband is just sitting there absolutely losing it...

I don't even know where to start with this one because honestly, it’s just ridiculous, right? I was reading what Jesse Hill had to say earlier, and man, it really gets my blood boiling! Like, are we seriously still debating this? It feels like every time I turn around, someone is trying to push some half-baked idea that just makes zero sense in the real world. You know what I mean? It’s like they think we’re all just sitting here waiting to be fooled by these nonsense arguments that fall apart the second you actually apply a lick of common sense! And don't even get me started on the way people are reacting to it either! It’s total chaos out there. People are jumping on the bandwagon without even checking the facts first, which—let’s be real—is basically what everyone does these days, isn't it? It's exhausting! I’m sitting here trying to make sense of it all, and it feels like I'm shouting into a void while everyone else is just busy nodding along to whatever the latest trend is. How do people live like this? Seriously, how? It’s enough to make you want to just throw your hands up and walk away from the whole mess!

What absolutely infuriates me—what truly gets under my skin—is the sheer lack of tact and basic human decency. I have never been the type of person to comment on someone else's life, let alone their most private matters. Yet, I witness this behavior daily. Whether it’s people telling me I’m "too old" or speculating about what kind of child I might have (I'm 33, apparently an old lady now), or implying we can't have kids because if we could, we would have had them ages ago (we only shared our happy news with a tiny inner circle).
Eventually, you just start tuning it out, but when someone you barely even know approaches you during your morning commute and tells you how he and his wife were just discussing us—noting that we shouldn't wait any longer because we're getting too old—🙂 you realize the world has completely lost its mind. 😵

With people like that, you honestly can't do anything unless you hit them back just as hard, and I mean zero hesitation and zero tact, right? Like, don't even bother being polite about it. Now, look, don't get me wrong—my first instinct is always to try and explain things nicely, you know? Just a calm, civilized heads-up that their questions are totally out of line and just plain rude. But if they still won't take the hint after you've been decent? Then you just let 'em have it!

Look, my mother-in-law isn't even a total nightmare most of the time, she’s actually alright, but man, sometimes she just has to stick her nose in where it doesn't belong and start acting like she owns the place, you know? Like, who does she think she is? There was this one time I absolutely lost my damn mind because she and half the neighborhood were sitting around gossiping and judging exactly how I should be running my life. Honestly, I couldn't care less what they think, so I finally just snapped and told her straight up that neither she nor the whole damn suburb needs to be having a committee meeting about my business! I told them to back off and stay out of it. And you know what? She hasn't said a single word about it since. Silence at last!

So I heard this joke the other day and honestly? It’s freaking hilarious because it’s too real. So there’s this girl at a wedding, right? And you know how it goes—every single nosy auntie and that one lady from church who won't shut up is hovering over her, breathing down her neck, asking the same damn question on loop: "So, when are we going to see you get married?" "It's about time, honey!" "Don't you want to settle down?" Like, seriously, can we just enjoy the cake for five minutes without the interrogation?! Well, this girl finally just reached her absolute breaking point, okay? She got so fed up with the constant nagging that she decided to flip the script entirely. Instead of getting defensive or blushing like some shy little kid, she just looked those old ladies dead in the eye and started asking them when *they* were planning on kicking the bucket, since, you know, they're basically due for it any second now! God, I love a good comeback. Sometimes you just have to give people exactly what they deserve, right? 🤣🤣🤣

16 weeks in. Most people have no clue how pregnancy actually works, and honestly, I’m wondering what’s going to happen when I take this public.

So, this lady—who, by the way, packed on over 60 pounds during her pregnancy—decides she’s the expert on me. I haven't gained any weight yet. My postpartum trainer can back me up; my stomach is still totally flat.
"There is no way you look like that at 16 weeks! You're starving yourself. Don't try to tell me you haven't gained a single pound. I know myself, I was up 20 pounds by week 15."
Me: "Do you even realize the baby weighs about three ounces right now?"

😬

I’m bringing this topic back up because, honestly, I am feeling extra cranky today. It really bugs me—and honestly, it shocks me—how cold and inconsiderate people can be.

Ever since certain friends found out I’m pregnant, it’s like they’ve completely vanished from my orbit. Not one single "How are you feeling?" or "How’s the pregnancy going?"... nothing. And my coworkers? They’re acting like total jerks, unable to even offer a kind word to someone about to start a family. One of them didn't even bother to reply to my congratulatory message. Seriously, how can anyone be that rude? I’m trying my best to focus on my inner circle—the people who actually care—but with this cocktail of hormones running through me, it’s hard not to be bothered by how indifferent the world feels. It’s like as soon as you're expecting a baby, you suddenly don't matter to anyone.

It also drives me crazy that nobody has offered to let me cut in line once during this pregnancy! Meanwhile, I'm constantly stuck in lines, feeling like a whale. Humanity and kindness? Zero points.

Mostly, though, it frustrates me that I’m being so sensitive about all of this. I know I shouldn't be, because none of this actually threatens me and I have plenty of love in my life, but still. Maybe it’s just a rational fear of what kind of world I’m bringing my little golden nugget into.

That’s probably just people without kids, right? Who knows what's eating them—maybe just pure jealousy.

Yeah, definitely no kids involved here. I’m always a bit hesitant to throw the "jealousy" card around, but honestly? It feels like that’s exactly what's happening sometimes, especially with some of the women at the office. Then again, with other friends, it might just be a total lack of understanding... who knows?

And don't even get me started on those people standing in line at Target, acting like they have nowhere else to be... what's the point? All you end up with is coldness and feeling totally disconnected.

I’ll admit, I was being a bit pushy. As soon as my pregnancy started showing, I would make sure to emphasize it by standing out even more, making sure I grabbed a seat on the subway or cut ahead in lines for just about anything. It wasn't out of spite; it was simply because nobody ever stepped up to offer me a spot... so I just took it myself 🙂

I can't find a polite way to put this, but people have become absolute cold-blooded assholes

I was recently thrown completely off my game by a friend of mine—someone who actually has kids and should, theoretically, have a shred of empathy for what I'm going through... but apparently not. So, here's the deal: my placenta is low, I’ve been told to stay on bed rest as much as possible, and I am, quite frankly, exhausted all the time. I try to get out for a quick coffee or a short walk every few days just to feel human, and what does she do? She hits me with this nonsense about how women carrying girls are just "lazy." Oh, she's an expert now, isn't she? Because she carried a girl too, I suppose. ☕ Or then there's the constant comparisons, where people look at my stomach and insist it’s ooooogromous, claiming the baby is going to be ooooogromous just because of how I look. Honestly, you encounter all sorts of characters in this life, don't you? 😲 🤣

Such foolish comments.

"The stroller you want to buy is way too expensive." Is it too expensive for you, or for me?
"You don't need a crib; the baby will just sleep with you anyway." Perhaps, but I have no intention of surrendering without a fight.😁
"You should breastfeed for at least three years." Yeah, that's definitely not happening.
"Your belly doesn't really show yet." That's because I had extra weight to lose before this started.☕
"Don't carry anything, don't go anywhere, don't do this, don't do that." I am not disabled.
"You're eating for two." I was eating for two before I was pregnant.🤦
"I don't like the name you chose." So? Here is your child—feel free to call them whatever you like.
"Why are you buying that so early?" Because I want to.

Never say never. It’s easy to play parent when you're just dealing with hypothetical kids in your head, isn't it?

What really caught me off guard was how people only started cutting in line once I was literally starving—like, my stomach was touching my teeth... before this, there was zero chance anyone would cut ahead. Even those older ladies with kids who clearly know how much standing sucks—they’d always be respectful. I get the teenagers, though; they just don't care about anyone else ☕ Yeah, people can be total jerks

And honestly, it surprised me how much I've been struggling this past month—just dragging myself along, unable to stand for long... everything used to feel fine, but now I'm watching pregnant women and thinking, "No way, it can't actually be this hard" 😵

It’s not even the fact that nobody offers me a seat or lets me pass that gets to me. I’m halfway through my pregnancy, and since my bump isn't huge yet, people can still pretend they think I’m just... well, a little extra filled out. 😬 Besides, I still feel fit enough to stand for those 10 minutes or so. It hasn't been an issue so far. I still love staying active. I’m mostly just doing stairs and walking for now, but it’s increasing every day. I honestly don't want to think about how I'll manage to get up to my floor by the time summer hits. 🤣

But the rudeness? Yeah, people are rude. Honestly, the hypocrisy is what bugs me most. They’ll lecture kids about why they aren't standing up, yet the older folks—who are busy lecturing everyone else but could easily stand because they aren't elderly or sick—won't budge either. 🙄

I wonder if things will change once my belly actually starts showing, but I’m not exactly optimistic..
I remember seeing an acquaintance on a packed bus once; she was clearly very pregnant. She had a long commute, and standing in a crowded bus like that is exhausting even for someone who isn't pregnant and perfectly healthy. Not a single person offered her a seat. Everyone just acted like they didn't see her. I actually called out to her from across the bus to tell her to come sit down when I spotted her. That moment really stuck with me. I ended up more frustrated than she was 🤣

I really don't think it will ☕ now that I'm eight months along. Just the other day, a woman in her 60s actually tried to shove me out of my seat on the subway because she claimed to be "disabled"—though, unless lightning strikes me down right here, she didn't have a cane or even look like she had trouble walking when we both got on at the same stop! Younger kids and women in their 20s or 30s usually give up their seats, but the older crowd or men? No way... Honestly, at the bank or the local post office, I don't even bother taking a number anymore; I just stand there listening to the grumbling because they won't let anyone through... 🤦

It’s honestly kind of awkward.🤣 Maybe once I’m further along in my pregnancy.😬 Next time, I’ll definitely try to sneak some deli meat past the line at Walmart.😈 One time, I felt like the entire crowd just turned on me because I accidentally stood at the front of the queue just to see what was on sale.🤣

I honestly don't get why people are so obsessed. All these questions about the pregnancy, asking how I am, staring at my stomach—and worst of all, trying to touch it. Especially since I'm only 16 weeks in and there isn't even much to see. I’ve always had a little bit of a belly anyway; I was never "flat," and right now it hasn't changed that much. I don't even let Rachel Kern26 touch it, and when someone else tries? I swear, I'm about two seconds away from slapping them. I only let my husband feel the firm part just to prove I'm actually pregnant and not just gaining weight. 🤣 Besides, I can't even feel the baby yet, so what's the point of poking me?
And don't even get me started on everyone at home. Honestly, I'd move out in a heartbeat if I could. Settling into this house is moving at a snail's pace, and it's driving me insane. I know the renovations won't be finished before the baby arrives—probably not long after, either—because new problems just keep popping up. I'm terrified I'm going to snap, and I really don't want the stress to affect the baby.
