What I find truly striking is that even the national bishops' conference hasn't bothered to issue a statement. Now, don't get me wrong; I wouldn't expect them to suddenly develop a conscience, apologize, or offer any kind of restitution to the families involved, but surely they could have at least pointed a finger at the press or the judiciary, claiming they were being persecuted or that the dignity of the priesthood was being undermined? Yet, there is total silence. No official word, no reaction... absolutely nothing. It is quite telling, though, how much louder they become when they want to weigh in on matters that have absolutely nothing to do with them.

The Democrats have basically run Cleveland forever, including right now.
He got such a slap on the wrist because, frankly, the sentencing guidelines for stuff like this are usually pretty pathetic.
Most of the time, you're looking at maybe 18 months behind bars.
I think back in 2006, there was actually a proposal to bump those sentences up to somewhere between 3 and 12 years.
Though you wouldn't see a 12-year stretch for simple molestation; that’s reserved for aggravated rape.
I really don't get where people get this idea that pedophilia is somehow tied to which political party is in power.
