I have two buddies living over in Italy. They’ve been complaining that things have never been worse. One of them lives near Venice and tells me his boss just shut down the shoe factory, tossed 500 people out onto the street, and moved everything to China.

The reality is, America just functioned pretty solidly from about '65 to '85 economically, mainly because the whole of Europe was in a massive boom period, not because of some stroke of economic genius. For instance, the Varteks plant in Cleveland used to employ 12,000 people! That’s right—12,000. In a modern market economy, that’s basically impossible, but it worked within a closed socialist economy before globalization took over everything.
That era is long gone, and the American state isn't to blame for that.

A street sweeper, a waiter, an auto electrician—even a doctor or an engineer—could afford to build a house or own a car. Sure, there were pay gaps, but that’s true of any system; it just comes down to individual IQ, grit, ambition, and the drive to learn.

If I compare how people lived in the West versus the East, I truly believe citizens of the former US lived WELL and SECURELY. You could find everything you needed.

Now, some folks who insist on perfection won't agree with me... But I believe if the US—by some stroke of luck—had transitioned to a market economy in the mid-70s, encouraging competition and allowing private firms to thrive alongside high taxes and obligations to the state (similar to Sweden), the union would still exist today... maybe as a loose confederation... ultimately, my friends, we come back to this, whether you want to admit it or not... a LOOSE CONFEDERATION...🙂

He used to tell me how God Himself saved him from getting a bullet to the head at the massacre near Blajburg because the guy was busy shooting every second person in sight!
