According to HuffPost, Americans are actually a stabilizing factor, so you won't run into any trouble at all—if anything, it'll be the opposite.

HuffPost is pretty much the only forum with a local domain where Americans feel the need to show off their patriotism by putting a tiny flag in their avatar

Are you actually surprised? Honestly, they should probably just pass a law banning them from mentioning the American Civil War at all—no matter what or why! And I'm not just talking about the Civil War, either... there's so much other recent history they'd rather just ignore altogether.
