10/20/2010. $6.90
11/20/2010. $3.53
12/20/2010. $0.72

--------------------------

These figures represent my accrued expenses on my prepaid debit card. My intention is to withdraw $1667 cash. Could someone clarify exactly what my total charge will be on December 20th? My billing cycle runs from the 10th to the 10th of each month, with payments due on the 20th.

The first installment of a 5000/20 agreement is $83.
A $5000*0.035 ATM fee equals $58, which is charged immediately.

In summary:
$436.06 in previous expenses
$83 the first cash installment
$58 the one-time ATM fee
--------------------------
$287

I find the mechanics of these interest charges and their application rather perplexing. Can anyone offer assistance?

I have my Visa and my total credit limit is $5667...
I've already spent about $2000.
So, if I wanted to pick up something worth $5000 using those 36-month installment plans, what kind of requirements am I looking at?
Is it enough if I just have enough room to cover the first installment, similar to how it works with my Mastercard, or can I buy something up to the difference of $3667 and then it just automatically rolls into those 36 monthly payments...
And then I wouldn't have any available credit left on my Visa?

What specific details should I enter into my JPMorgan Chase online banking portal under my US dollar account if I want to pay off an installment?
I’m trying to figure out exactly what information I need—like the recipient's account number, their full name, their business headquarters, the reference number, their address, and the purpose of the payment. I really don't want to accidentally send my money to the wrong person.

I just put my own name and info in the recipient field. For the account number, enter 2360000-72........ and then in the payment reference, just repeat those credit card digits—either the 72...... sequence or whatever shows up on your transaction receipt at the bottom.

If I want to apply for a Visa, does anyone know if I can just walk into the bank and handle everything right there (since my paycheck is deposited through JPMorgan Chase), or am I going to need some kind of employer-certified paperwork to bring with me?

I'm wondering if I can just ask the bank to show all my Visa transactions on my JPMorgan Chase online portal, so I don't have to deal with anything being sent through the mail.

If you’re an existing JPMorgan Chase customer, you can handle canceling those statements yourself online 😉.
Otherwise—if you don't have an account there—you'll just have to head down to a local branch

I had a Visa for about a year. It was a nightmare; from the moment you start spending, the bank basically owns you. Don't even get me started on the interest—who knows how much money just vanished into thin air. I barely managed to pay off the balance before rushing to the bank to cancel that cursed card once and for all. Lesson learned: if you don't have the cash, just deal with it.

I’m not entirely sure which subforum is the right place for this, but here goes: Imagine a scenario where there is a primary Visa cardholder who has also authorized several secondary users on the account. Now, suppose the primary holder runs into some financial trouble and finds themselves unable to settle the monthly balance on the card. In such a situation, would the bank have the legal standing to pursue the secondary cardholders to recover those outstanding funds?

The bank is only going to come after the primary account holder. Did the main user actually sign off on adding extra people to the account? Because if they did, they're stuck footing the bill for the whole thing...

I just wanted to share my experience for anyone currently holding a Visa... I had an outstanding balance of about $2333 which I had arranged to pay off over ten installments, meaning roughly $233 per month. In an effort to clear the debt faster and get back to zero, I decided to start paying $333 instead. After I made a payment of $333, I noticed they didn't reduce my balance down to 6,000; instead, they only dropped it to 6,300. At first, I thought to myself, "Fine, I guess those are just those notorious interest charges I have to deal with." So, the following month, I decided to put another thousand dollars toward it. This time, I received a confirmation stating my balance went from 6,300 down to 5,600—not 5,300 as it should have been. At that point, I couldn't simply brush it off as interest anymore. Ultimately, I just pulled some cash together, paid off the remaining balance, and closed the account entirely. It's worth noting that I hadn't even used the card for several months leading up to this. Even after closing everything out, they still sent me an additional interest charge of $67... I paid it just to be done with them, only to find out later that it was an overpayment and they eventually refunded it. Long story short... if you are using a Visa, please try to settle your debt as quickly as possible. If you pay close attention to your statements for even two or three months, you will realize they are essentially skimming your hard-earned money through predatory practices. I am relieved to finally be rid of the whole ordeal, and thank God for that.

Visa
deferring payments?

How does this actually work..?

Say, for instance, the 16th of the month is when my Visa statement closes, and I’ve set up this arrangement where I just pay off 5% of whatever the total balance was.

Here's the scenario:
At the start of April, I charge a few things to my Visa, totaling about $400. By what date do I absolutely have to pay the full amount to make sure they don't just automatically grab that 5% and start tacking on interest like crazy?
Is it by, say, April 15th, or
is it more like May 15th? (the following month)

thanks.

Anyone else dealing with this yet?

So, here’s my situation:
Today (March 26th), I dropped $217 on my Visa...
My billing date is the 16th of the month.
Basically, what's the deadline to pay off the full amount ($650) before they start hitting me with interest??
How long is this grace period actually?

I heard someone say it’s ten days before the payment date (so 16 minus 10 equals the 6th), which would mean April 6th? Is that right?

Not quite. That statement generates on April 6th—which is 10 days before the costs are due. If you pay earlier than that, you might just be covering old balances if you have any, but this current amount won't be officially due until the 16th.
Just make sure to pay between the 6th and the 16th. You won't hit any interest charges that way.

You need to make the deposit on the day the notice is generated—which means the 6th of the month 😉

Look, here’s the deal:
The grace period isn't just a flat thirty days from whenever you swipe that card(30days)
It all hinges on when the transaction actually hits and when the payment clears.

So, let me see if I've got my head wrapped around this. If I make a purchase on March 23rd, but the charge doesn't settle until the 16th, and then I have to settle the bill by April 6th—as you're suggesting—that means my actual delay in this specific scenario is only about 13 days, right?

But if I had made that same purchase back on March 1st, and still had to pay it off by April 6th, wouldn't the delay jump up to 36 days?
Am I tracking with you here, or am I totally missing the mark?😕

No, look... anything you charge up before the 6th of the month hits your statement on the 16th...

So, if you run up a balance on March 1st, the billing cycle wraps up on March 6th, and then that payment is due on March 16th.

But if you wait until March 7th to spend that money? You won't be looking at a bill until April 16th.

Okay, thanks.
So, just to make sure I've got this straight—if I buy something on March 26th, the bill isn't due until April 16th? Is that right?
And I have to have everything paid off by then to avoid those nasty interest charges?
