Is it still possible to exchange those older series dollars—you know, the ones from before the redesign back in 2012—at those few small currency exchange spots that actually deal with them?

I dug up some loose cash at home and I’d much rather spend it on a decent burger than just let it go to waste. 🙂

Does anyone happen to know where I can go to swap some Chinese yuan for US dollars?

Does anyone actually have a list of places where I can swap out my US dollars? I’m kind of guessing it might just be possible in neighboring states, but let me know if I'm totally off base here!

Hey there! So, I’ve got this one US bill that’s pretty much torn in two—like, almost two equal pieces. Does anyone know where I can actually go to get it swapped out? Or is it even possible at all?

Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone could help me out here—I’ve got this old $50 bill that was actually pulled from circulation back in mid-2014. Does anyone know if I can exchange this somewhere here in the States, or am I stuck having to go all the way to the UK to deal with it? I was reading some stuff about using an exchange service, so I'm curious—if I wanted to swap just this one $50 bill (it’s in perfect shape, by the way), what kind of fee should I expect to pay? Thanks! 🙂

Hey, does anyone know if these 1988 US dollar bills are still good? Can I just swap them at the bank like any other modern cash?

Hi there, I caught a news segment mentioning that €500 bills are being phased out by 2018... I was wondering if it's possible to break them down at a Visa location? I stopped by two different currency exchanges, but since they both had signs stating they don't provide change, I thought I’d just try swapping a hundred for a five-hundred... though both places told me they didn't have enough cash on hand to give me anything back, which seems a bit ridiculous considering I wasn't even asking for ten or twenty bucks... anyway, it feels like people are already starting to dodge them, and honestly, it's making me a little uneasy... thanks 🤔🙂

"The $500 bill will remain legal tender and can therefore still be used for payments and storing value."

Does anyone know where I might go to exchange a damaged banknote? 🤷 It seems I’ve hit a bit of a wall; neither the Treasury nor the Federal Reserve, nor even a few of the banks I visited—including OTP Bank and Goldman Sachs—are willing or able to facilitate the exchange. 🤷

I actually just swapped some beat-up AUD at this random little exchange booth the other day. They didn't even try to charge me a fee.🙏🙏

JPMorgan Chase handles damaged dollars (as long as they aren't totally shredded), but they’ll slap you with a 2% fee, minimum. $6.75.

I've got a few coins from $8.25 lying around at home, and I was wondering where I might be able to swap them out for actual bills?

Why bother changing it when you can just use those coins for everyday payments as it is?🤔

Honestly, just deposit them straight into your bank account and then pull out the cash from an ATM; it saves you from having to deal with all the unnecessary back-and-forth with the tellers.

Anyone know where I can pick up some foreign currency—specifically from Madagascar?
I don't need a ton of cash—just a little something symbolic to give as a gift to someone heading out there.🙂

Maybe check eBay if someone happens to be selling them, but honestly, I'm probably chasing ghosts here.

I know this isn't breaking news, but since I was just dealing with this today...

Look, you can head to the Federal Reserve, a big bank like Chase, or pretty much any local branch. Though, they did tell me at my local Bank of America that it might take up to a week to process.
If you go to the Fed, just walk up to any teller window. You don't even need to tape it back together—they don't even care if you have the other scrap piece or not. They'll just hand you the cash right then and there. It's a straight swap, simple as that. No hoops to jump through.
There isn't some massive bureaucratic nightmare involved. 👍

Hi there!
I'm actually looking to get my hands on some vintage banknotes that aren't in circulation anymore
I've started a collection—so if anyone here has some they're looking to part with, I'd love to chat about making a deal
Thanks!
