Got a couple of things I'm wondering about:
1.) I've got some 1996 series $100 bills lying around. Can I actually swap these out for the newer versions at a bankβ€”ideally without getting hit by some crazy fee? I heard they did a total redesign of the dollar a few years back, so I figured I might want the new ones just for peace of mind. Also, am I being paranoid here? Like, can I keep holding onto these old bills without worrying they'll eventually be useless if I try to spend them here in the States?
2.) I also have a few €500 and €200 notes from back in 2002. They're pretty beat up, tooβ€”kind of torn down the middle and patched together with Scotch tape. Is there any way to trade them in for fresh ones without paying some insane commission?

This might be a total long shot, but is anyone actually interested in some Kazakhstani dollars? 😁
I ended up with a handful left over after my trip to Kazakhstan, and there's absolutely nowhere around here I can exchange them.
